WELCOME OUR NEW CITY MANAGER, PAUL MCLARTY! The Nassau Bay Mayor and City Council have selected Paul McLarty as the new City Manager.
In partnership with recruiting firm Strategic Government Resources (SGR), a Selection Committee appointed by City Council reviewed a total of 36 applicants. During their regular meeting on Monday, April 11, City Council approved an employment contract with McLarty, who comes to the City after nearly 19 years with Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD).
"I have lived in the Clear Lake area since 1996 and love everything about Nassau Bay," McLarty said. "I am both honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to build upon the success that is already evident in our community. I look forward to becoming a part of this very special community and meeting everyone in the near future."
Since 2011, McLarty has served as the Deputy Superintendent of Business and Support Services with CCISD, and served as Chief Financial Officer with the district from 2003-2011. He has worked for other school districts including Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District and Galveston Independent School District. He also spent approximately five years as the Director of Finance & Administration/ County Budget Officer for Galveston County. McLarty holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Houston as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M. He is also a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and a Foundation Board Member of the Space Center Rotary Endowment Foundation. McLarty will officially begin on June 1, 2022 with Interim City Manager Tim Cromie continuing to serve in the meantime.
MAY 7TH ELECTION INFO The City of Nassau Bay is at its strongest when our community is informed and engaged — we are stronger when we all vote! Election Day: Election Day is Saturday, May 7th. Voting will be held in the City Hall Council Chamber (1800 Space Park Drive, Suite 200, Nassau Bay, TX 77058) from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Unofficial tabulation of results will be publicized as soon as possible after 7:00pm on May 7th.
Sample Ballot: On Election Day, along with casting a ballot for the Mayor and Council Positions 2, 4, and 6, Nassau Bay voters will also vote on two Texas State Constitutional Amendments. A sample ballot can be found at www. harrisvotes.com. Below are the City Council candidates that will be presented on Nassau Bay’s May 7th ballot: • Mayor: Phil Johnson and Mark Denman
• Position 2: Michelle Micheli, Lucie Johannes Sommer, and Bob Wilkinson • Position 4: Charles Pulliam, John P Mahon, and James Abbey • Position 6: Michelle Weller and Matt Prior (incumbent)
Identification Requirements for Voting: Photo identification is required to vote in Texas. Valid forms of ID include a Texas Driver License, Texas Election Identification Certificate, Texas Personal Identification Card, Texas Handgun License, United States Military Identification Card, United States Citizenship Certificate, and United States Passport. CCISD Election: CCISD’s Board of Trustees election is separate from Harris County / City of Nassau Bay elections – residents will complete two ballots, one for Nassau Bay’s Mayor and Council Positions 2, 4 and 6, and one for CCISD’s At-Large Position B. Residents can also vote for the CCISD Election on May 7th in the City Hall Council Chamber.
