UPDATES FROM GMP SALFORD NORTH WEST GMP Public Consultation:
Assistant Chief Constable Scott Green, who is overseeing the consultation as GMP's neighbourhood policing lead, said: "I'm delighted to be able to say that we have now opened our Neighbourhood Policing Consultation which will offer members of the public an opportunity to be involved in shaping our plans for local policing.
GMP has launched a Neighbourhood Policing Consultation in the latest step to fulfil public promises made by the Chief Constable. We're holding an event at Salford University, Mary Seacole Building on 5th April 2022 19.00-21.00pm, where the people of Salford can speak directly to one of our Chief Officers. In addition, GMP wants to hear your views on neighbourhood policing. The Chief Constable has committed to drive forward improvements to the service that GMP provide and the results of this survey will influence policing in your community. You can read more and access the survey at: www.gmp.police.uk/news/greater-manchester/ news/news/2022/february/neighbourhoodpolicing-consultation-launched/ Responses to the questionnaire will be used to assist the development of GMP's Neighbourhood Policing Plan, which is a key component of Chief Constable Stephen Watson's Plan on a Page improvement plan.
Police Cadets We are actively seeking young people to join our GMP Volunteer Police Cadets, and adults to become a Volunteer Cadet Leader. Over March, we held recruitment evenings for all cadet units across the force. It's an exciting opportunity for people to get involved in. To find out more go to the National VPC website vpc.police.uk. You can register your interest here or email VolunteerPoliceCadets@gmp.police.uk. You will be added to the waiting list for the next recruitment drive. Follow us on social media: GMP Little Hulton, Walkden, Ellenbrook & Worsley and GMP Volunteer Police Cadets 24 ON OUR DOORSTEP
The Chief Constable has been clear since he arrived in GMP that neighbourhood policing is the bedrock of British policing and therefore overhauling our previous approach is a significant component of the Plan on a Page improvement plan that he unveiled last September. We've already made some significant steps with the introduction of dedicated Chief Superintendents in each district and we are now looking to build on those strong foundations even more. A policing consultation of this scale is something that hasn’t taken place in Greater Manchester for some time so I would encourage members of the public to grab this opportunity and have their say. It is Your Neighbourhood; Your Police; Your Say. The consultation is due to last for six weeks and the questionnaire should take around ten minutes to complete so make sure you visit the GMP website and help shape our approach moving forward."
A further list of venues and dates for the public consultations are available on the GMP website.
