A Holiday Celebration for Gold Coast Mark Johnson, staff writer, with contributions from Peter Olliviere, Ian Gerada and Christy Spangler The Gold Coast Region Holiday celebration was held in “The View at Colony West.” It was a wonderful scene for a special evening for GCR Porsche Club of America. Over 70 attendees were treated to spectacular decorations, a live musician/DJ, and a sumptuous dinner surrounded by the camaraderie of those club members in attendance. In truly festive mood, PCA membership enjoyed a dinner of roast brisket, glazed salmon, or grilled chicken, the main dish in a three-course meal that included a phenomenal cheesecake dessert. Entertainment for the evening was provided by Evan Grushka. He provided a broad selection of tunes to enhance the holiday spirit with a fun beat. The music encompassed the 70’s, 80’s 90’s as well as a few modern-day hits that had everyone on the dance floor. Gold Coast Region Club President, Mr. Peter Olliviere, presented his comments about the past year and our success in events and meetings despite the challenges created by the ongoing pandemic. He also expressed his optimistic insights for a better 2022, with a return to more normal activities. Based on recent Board and Social Committee planning meetings, GCR already has a very active schedule on tap for the coming year. Peter had the floor for perhaps the most enjoyable part of the evening (not to discount the dancing); the Annual Gold Coast Member Awards for the 2021 calendar year. the GCR Enthusiasts of the Year, Noemi & Nestor Sanchez. The Region “Rookie of the Year” was won by Mike Del Pozo. The Family of the Year by Steve and Dottie Kidd. Each of these winners exemplified the spirit and passion of “It’s not only the cars, it’s the people” mantra of Porsche Club of America. Beyond these three annual awards, President Olliviere offered up 5 additional “Special President’s Awards” to those club members who jumped in and added value and enthusiasm to our GCR PCA group. These President Award winners are: Paul Laya, Rick Veingrad, Ed Blair, Christy Spangler and Ian Gerada When you next see these recipients, please extend your best wishes for their efforts on behalf of our organization. They make things happen for your Porsche pleasure and enjoyment of all our members and vehicles. We offer our thanks to all who attended and to those special folks who worked to create the magic of the evening. They are Cynthia Fluhart-Diaz, Ian Gerada, Christy Spangler. Cynthia, the very special flower arrangements were in a word: INCREDIBLE! GCR would also like to thank Foreign Affairs Motorsport for the 10 giveaways and for providing the Porsche vehicles on display. It was a beautiful Sunday evening, enjoyed by all.
