Editor’s Notes

As this month’s cover shows, Gold Coast is starting to get back on track. The cover photograph was taken by staff photographer Alejo Menendez at our Sebring autocross. As you read this issue another autocross will have occurred at Sebring, attended by Suncoast and Gold Coast region PCA members. Attendance is increasing and our regions partner well to provide a great autocross event for our members who are ready to get back to the track. More events are planned for 2021 so keep tuned for upcoming dates in our monthly “Autocross Update.” The DE team has a Drivers’ Education event planned for October 2 and 3 at PBIR. The Gold Coast DE events are very limited so sign up as soon as the registration flyer is released. Not all of our events are at an autocross track or a race track like PBIR, Sebring, or Homestead. Turn to page 10 and see our first Poker Rally. The event was planned by Steve and Dottie Kidd after the Boca Parade. As you can see our members were ready to get back to our normal Porsche

lifestyle and this event was a home run. Registration was limited to 52 teams so sign up early for next year’s event and don’t miss out on the fun. I would also like to thank our loyal sponsors who advertise in the Kassette and are always there to support the club by opening their shops and providing us with Porsche-style hospitality. Another annual event that was put on hold last year is our drive to the west coast organized by director Rick Veingrad. This year the event flyer is on page 14. “Escape to the Cape” will take us to a new location on the west coast. The event is very popular with our members so come join the group and be prepared for a fantastic weekend in Cape Coral. Staff writer Mark Johnson has created a new section in the Kassette to interview members both seasoned and new. This month’s “Member Profile” is on page 15. Mark has taken an old section, the “Members Spotlight,” that we ran years ago to a much higher level. We have over 3000

members so we hope this new section will help you to meet your fellow PCA members. One of the challenges to produce the Kassette is content. Not everyone is a writer so my in-basket is not always full of articles each month. I am blessed to have some talented staff writers and photographers and a few chairs that provide great material. Our president, Peter Olliviere, who provides an informative “President’s Corner” each month has a passion about his cars and has written another article to follow last month’s “Confessions of a 4-Cylinder Junkie.” A special thanks to our tech writer, Pedro Bonilla, who has moved to the Suncoast region, for continuing to provide a fantastic tech article each month. Articles from you our members, are always welcome. Enjoy getting back on the PCA track.
