Rolling Start

PORSCHE WILLOUGHBY - 911% PORSCHE SINCE 1969.

ILast edition we featured Sportscar Together Day, the 911 992 series GT3 and the Boxster 25 Years release in W Number 24. The 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition, exclusive to Australia was also showcased, and our client profile was Ken Dunnet with his new Taycan Turbo. Briefly we discussed the new 911 GTS which has now arrived at Porsche Centre Willoughby.

This edition we highlight the new generation Macan GTS, as seen on the cover, the all new Taycan Cross Turismo, the sensational 718 Cayman GT4 RS and the forthcoming 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design Anniversary model. Our featured client is a longstanding friend of SVM / PCW: Jay Andrews, who has owned many Porsches and recently took delivery of the first 911 GT3 (current series) to be delivered. I am confident you will enjoy his story.

We do have a magnificent Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo here on the showroom floor which we will have to keep until the end of 2022, due to supply chain issues we are currently experiencing. When I was recently in California for three weeks, I found it exhilarating to drive a Taycan 4S each day. I am even used to the quiet, which certainly received my wife’s approval! This car is a pleasure to drive.

As you may be aware, our range of electric cars has increased with the rear wheel drive Taycan having arrived in January.

We are currently showcasing a Boxster 25 Years in our showroom. This vehicle is not for sale and we would like to ensure our clients have time to at least sit in it while here for a visit or a service. I remember so vividly the first Boxsters we received. In comparison to today, they were very basic inside, yet we were all amazed at the handling and performance.

As a Dealer Group we released the new Silver with Red manual at the Sydney Convention Centre to 300 very excited Porsche owners and we have not looked back since. The original worldwide release was in Scottsdale, Arizona with 85 new Boxsters in the car park. All sorts of colours were presented on the first day, then a long drive through the desert with the help

from California Highway Patrol Officers on motor bikes waving us through red traffic lights. Later that day we were entertained by Liza Minelli at the welcome dinner and the following day we had Jerry Seinfeld giving us a stand-up routine whilst outside in the desert. The Boxster 25 Years we have at Willoughby reminds me so much of that four-day release.

Whilst writing this, am reminded (in March 2022) of the Friday 13th 2020 Dealer Meeting at the Formula One Grand Prix, when suddenly everything was cancelled due to Covid 19. We had thought it strange to see drivers at the airport on the Friday going overseas PRIOR to the race which was on the Sunday! The rest is well documented history, our business stopped for six weeks and in May 2020 took off again with a vengeance. We have not slowed up since then. Our order books are filling rapidly and the wait for a bespoke Porsche can be significantly longer than normal, at the moment. We would, historically, write an average of 40 new vehicle orders a month; this has more than doubled to 80 in some months! A far cry from the nineties when we sold 7 or 8 a month.

Due to the supply chain issues and our significant demand, we have been purchasing pre-owned vehicles when we can. Naturally the current owners are very well rewarded with strong valuations.

When you are visiting PCW please understand that many of the cars on display are not for sale. We made the decision to keep every model on our floor in order to demonstrate a full range. The recent microchip shortage still delays our vehicles, although we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

As always there will be releases throughout the year and we are awaiting some exciting new models from Germany. We can look forward to some limited run 911 models, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, the Taycan GTS, the Macan T and our Cayenne Platinum Edition. The future is very bright when considering electric vehicles with more models to come before 2025!

Until your next visit, stay Covid safe and continue to enjoy your Porsche.

The new Macan features an even sharper design with a sporty focus.

Porsche has further sharpened the visuals of its compact SUV with a number of specific changes.

The redesigned nose with an inlay in the exterior colour emphasises the Macan’s width, making it look even more imposing on the road.

On the new Macan GTS, the centre of the nose section as well as other elements are finished in Black.

The rear is now rounded off towards the road by a striking diffuser in a particularly technical design. Here and at the front end it features a new 3D textured structure, which is also extended to the car's side blades.

The LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and SportDesign exterior mirrors are now standard on all models.

A total of 13 colours are available for the new Macan, including the new colours Papaya Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic. The Macan GTS has an additional colour, Python Green, however it is only available with the optional GTS Sport Package.

With its Individual Colour and Paint To Sample options, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur significantly expands the design freedom for the Macan.

Larger wheels are also fitted as standard: they measure 19 inches for the Macan, 20 inches for the Macan S and 21 inches for the Macan GTS.

A total of seven new w heel designs have also been added to the range.

FEATURE MACAN
11 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU 10 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU

As the sporty flagship of the successful SUV line-up, the Macan GTS sits at the top of the range. Its 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine now delivers 324 kW / 440 PS (horsepower) – an increase of 44 kW / 60 PS (horsepower). With the responsiveness and power delivery typical of Porsche GTS cars, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds with the now standard Sport Chrono package and reaches a top speed of 272 km/h.

The Macan S is now also equipped with a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that produces 20 kW / 26 PS (horsepower) more power than before, with 280 kW / 380 PS (horsepower). This propels the vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, while it has a top speed of up to 259 km/h.

A newly developed, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 195 kW / 265 PS (horsepower) serves as the entry point to the Macan range. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, and reaches a top speed of 232 km/h.

All engines are coupled to the seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system.

The new Macan models also offer a wide suspension bandwidth, balancing maximum suspension comfort and dynamic sports car performance. The chassis has been optimised further: the Macan now responds with even more sensitivity and more directly to the driving situation and road conditions, giving the driver even better feedback via the steering wheel.

For this purpose, elements such as the damper characteristics of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) have been re-adapted specifically for this model. It actively and continuously regulates the damping force for each individual wheel. PASM is available as an option for the Macan and is standard for the Maccan S and Macan GTS models.

The Macan GTS now sets itself apart from the other derivatives even more than before with the sport air suspension, which lowers the body by 10 millimetres and is now standard.

The dynamic benefits of the new Macan GTS are above all due to the fact that the air suspension is 10 per cent more rigid on the front axle and 15 per cent firmer on the rear axle compared with its predecessor.

The optional GTS Sport package further increases the dynamic potential of the car with 21-inch GT design wheels, performance tyres and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus).

Larger wheels are also fitted as standard: they measure at least 19 inches for the Macan, 20 inches for the Macan S and 21 inches for the Macan GTS. A total of seven new wheel designs have also been added to the range.

The new Porsche Macan offers a substantially enhanced interior with a modern and elegantly designed centre console. Its new operating concept, which makes use of touch surfaces instead of tactile buttons, brings a clear structure to the cockpit.

A new, shorter selector lever sits in the centre of the clearlyorganised control module. The analogue clock at the top of the dashboard is now also standard equipment. A number of leather upholstery and contrasting seam packages in Gentian Blue, Papaya or Crayon are optionally available to add new colour highlights to the interior.

The Macan continues to offer many online functions and services as standard. These can be controlled via the 10.9-inch full HD touch display of the Porsche Communication Management or by means of voice commands. The Macan adopts the new multifunction and GT Sport steering wheels from the 911.

Besides the dynamic benefits and Black highlights on the exterior, the GTS Sport package available only for the Macan GTS also contains specific and exclusive equipment for the interior. This includes 18-way sport seats, the Carbon interior package, Race-Tex upholstery with extended leather elements, various items with contrast stitching and GTS lettering in Python Green.

In Australia, the Macan GTS models will be additionally equipped with the following:

Macan GTS: Sport Chrono Package including redesigned mode switch, 19-inch collapsible spare wheel, Metallic paint, BOSE Surround Sound system, Automatic dimming mirrors, Porsche Entry & Drive, Lane Change Assist, ParkAssist (front and rear) with reversing camera and Surround View, Side airbags in rear compartment, Privacy glass, Driver memory package, Apple CarPlay ® and Digital radio (DAB+).

The new Macan models are available to order now at Porsche Centre Willoughby.

The carbon side plates fitted lengthwise to the roof spoiler are GT-specific, as is the adaptively extendable rear spoiler’s lip, which is 25 mm larger than that fitted to the Turbo. This increases downforce at the car’s top speed by up to 40 kilograms.

NEW SPORTING HERO

The Cayenne Turbo GT

IIts 471 kW / 640 PS (horsepower) four-litre biturbo V8 provides the basis for superb driving characteristics. With 67 kW / 90 PS (horsepower) more than the Cayenne Turbo Coupé and maximum torque of 850 Nm (an increase of 80 Nm), the 0-100 km/h sprint is reduced to 3.3 seconds (0.6 s less) and top speed is now 300 km/h (an increase of 14 km/h).

With even sportier lines and available exclusively in a four-seater Coupe body style, the Cayenne Turbo GT comes with all available chassis systems fitted as standard and performance tyres developed specially for this model.

The powertrain and chassis also have a unique set-up specifically tuned for the Cayenne Turbo GT. The result is a harmonious overall concept with superb racetrack capability.

This has been proven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern, who lapped the 20.832 km Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Cayenne Turbo GT in a time of 7:38.9 minutes, setting a new official SUV record.

Compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the Turbo GT rides up to 17 millimetres lower. Based on this, both the passive chassis components and active control systems have been re-engineered and optimised for handling and performance. They also feature specific calibration

to guarantee perfect interaction between them. As an example, the rigidity of the three-chamber air suspension has been increased by up to 15 per cent, and the damper characteristics of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as well as the application of the Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering have also been adapted.

The Cayenne Turbo GT’s biturbo engine is currently Porsche’s most powerful eight-cylinder unit. The most extensive upgrades were carried out in the areas of the crankshaft drive, turbocharger, direct fuel injection, induction system and intercooler.

The V8 of the Turbo GT differs from that of the Turbo Coupé in fundamental elements such as its crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, timing chain drive and torsional vibration dampers. Given the increase in power to 471 kW / 640 PS (horsepower), these components have been designed for higher peak loads and improved driving dynamics.

The faster-shifting eight-speed Tiptronic S and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system have also been modified. There is also additional water cooling for the transfer case.

Sporty equipment: lots of carbon on the exterior, lots of Alcantara in the interior

The standard sports exhaust system, with its central tailpipes, is unique to the Cayenne Turbo GT. From the middle of the vehicle, the exhaust system, including the rear silencer, is made from lightweight and particularly heatresistant titanium. An additional weight saving is achieved through the omission of the centre silencer.

Optionally available with paintwork in the new colour, Arctic Grey, the Cayenne Turbo GT underlines its exceptional athleticism through the outstanding features of its progressive design.

These include a GT-specific front apron with striking spoiler lip and enlarged side cooling air intakes, which create a unique front view. A contoured carbon roof and black wheel arch extensions, together with 22-inch GT Design wheels in Neodyme, dominate its side view.

More Connectivity & Colours

Thanks to technological developments, the integration of Android Auto in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system will now be available. With the new Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus options, unconventional and personal colour choices can now be realised. For example, the Taycan can now be painted in the ‘90s classic Rubystar or in bright Acid Green.

With the new Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus* options, unconventional and personal colour choices can now be realised. For example, the Taycan can now be painted in the ‘90s classic Rubystar or in bright Acid Green.

“The latest generation of Taycan impresses with seamless smartphone connectivity, which now includes Android Auto,” said Kevin Giek, the Vice President Model Line Taycan since April.

“Our all-electric Taycan range is growing and thriving. The new Cross Turismo, which was added to the line-up in the spring, is proving extremely popular with our customers, as has been shown by the excellent number of orders being taken for it.”

Metallic colours

In the ‘90s, Porsche introduced a number of highly colourful paint finishes to its range. These quickly achieved cult status among fans of the brand and are especially popular today on classics like the 964-generation 911 sports cars. These eye-catching colours are now making a comeback.

As part of the continually developing personalisation strategy of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the Taycan is now also available with Paint to Sample and

Paint to Sample Plus in addition to 17 standard paint colours. The first option allows painting with 65 additional colours, at present. This includes the Moonlight Blue Metallic, Acid Green, Rubystar, Riviera Blue and Viola Metallic colours that are so characteristic of the brand. Paint to Sample Plus gives customers almost complete freedom in their choice of colour, even permitting them to match their Taycan to their favourite accessory.

TECHNOLOGICAL ENHANCEMENTS: MORE RANGE

IN PRACTICE

The real-world range of the latest versions will be greater in day-to-day use. Extensive technological developments have been implemented to achieve this increase. In Normal and Range modes, the front electric motor is almost completely decoupled and de-energised in the partial load range in the all-wheel drive models. Furthermore, no drive is transmitted to either axle when the car is coasting or at a standstill. This electric freewheel function reduces drag losses.

The motors are switched on again within milliseconds only when the driver requests more power or changes the driving mode.

The thermal management and charging functions have also been further improved. With the Turbo Charging Planner, the highvoltage battery can now be heated to a slightly higher temperature than before.

This means that fast charging is possible earlier and at a higher charge level. In addition, the waste heat from the electrical components is used to an even greater extent for battery temperature regulation.

ANDROID AUTO: NOW ALSO INTEGRATED INTO THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM

The sixth generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) has been fitted to the Taycan since its introduction. The all-electric sports car has always been a connectivity pioneer, starting with the seamless integrations of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts.

Android Auto is now also integrated in the PCM, along with Apple CarPlay support for iPhone. This means that compatible smartphones with the Google Android operating system are now also supported. Selected phone functions and smartphone apps that do not adversely affect driving safety can therefore now be operated via PCM 6.0 or the Google Assistant voice commands.

The satellite navigation system calculates more quickly, primarily uses the online search for points of interest (POI) and displays its information more clearly.

The layout and operating system have also been revamped slightly: there are now five menu options instead of three on the left side of the central display and the icons can be arranged individually.

Years of Porsche

Jay Andrews

1953 - 2022

In Memoriam

We share this story in memory of our wonderful client and friend Jay Andrews. Jay’s passion for Porsche is expressed in his words, telling the story of his relationship with our brand and with PCW. It was indeed a privilege to have Jay as a member of the Porsche family. Only last month he was at our cafe, beaming and smiling with glee. He often called in just to look at our cars and talk "Porsche". Jay will be missed.

W magazine speaks with Jay Andrews about his long relationship with Porsche cars and Porsche Centre Willoughby during his pickup of a new 992 911 GT3. Jay, a retired lawyer having been a partner at Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has been dealing with Porsche Centre Willoughby for forty years. Let’s go back to the beginning of his Porsche ownership journey, when in 1982 a 911 SC caught Jay’s eye.

1978

1. 911 SC 1978

Ibought my first Porsche in 1982 second-hand. Indeed it was many years before I kicked this habit. This car was white with tan upholstery and tartan seat inserts. No sunroof or spoilers but it did have aircon. It was fitted with cookie cutter wheels.

A highlight was an early morning weekday blast to Jindabyne in 4 and a half hours - who said you need more than 180 hp to make quick progress?

Over the years we have completed countless trips to the snowy mountain region of NSW. On one occasion, driving out of Perisher Valley late one afternoon, I hadn’t put our chains on, through laziness and tiredness, when a bus intervened! Driving the 1978 911 SC with the road covered in sheet ice had us completing a 360 degree spin at 5 kph, ending in us driving around the bus and continuing on without grief. Luck was on our side that day.

The clutch was replaced at 165,000 kms and the motor required a full rebuild at 190,000 kms in 1991.

CLIENT PROFILE

My 911’s motor was in pieces in the Willoughby workshop. Surely this was the perfect time to trade in?

There was a Guards Red / black leather 944 Cabriolet with only 10,000 kms in the showroom. I fell in love. Two interesting points - the boot in a 944 Cabriolet must be the shallowest boot of any car and for some reason the heated rear view mirrors are permanently on when the car is running i.e. there is no off switch.

In 2002 I had my one and only big accident when a driver drove through a stop sign. The 944 was brilliant and I was not injured.

1989

This car was white with black leather, a brilliant car. I could accommodate two sets of golf clubs in the back seat or a bassinet. All went really well until 1999 when I snapped the rear window wiper.

I dropped in for a wiper late on a Thursday. While it was being fitted Sean dropped by for a chat and 15 minutes later I had a Forest Green (special paint) Coupe with soft grey leather.

Sean sealed the deal by cancelling the bill for the replacement wiper…

was killing time on a Saturday morning. You know the rest of the story. This one was black with black and gorgeous Minilite look, Carrera Sport wheels.

Not sure how I came to buy this but there was chatting to Sean and he pointed out a silver Cabriolet with full navy leather and sports bucket seats. I was smitten.

I still had a full head of hair at this point so a cabriolet sort of made sense if you use the hardtop in summer and leave the top down for the rest of the year.

I just had to have it. White with black. It was my first GT love, such a greatly balanced and involving car, manual of course! Just mind blowing.

So I sent Sean an email around midnight asking about delivery times. Was a little surprised when he responded within the hour. What service! I must be a special customer.

No, Sean was in Europe, so my timing was perfect. What followed was a fantastic 6 months due to delays while Porsche replaced the first batch of 3.8 litre engines. Basically, Willoughby gave me a selection of cars whenever needed ranging from Boxsters through to Cayennes.

The 991 GT3 is white with black and without doubt the best Porsche so far.

For some reason the car had been advertised for a while so on a quiet Saturday afternoon I dropped by for a chat with Sean...

GT silver with black - my first car with gear shifting warning lights.

This car was quite scary and could easily break traction in third gear.

I added a cargraphic suspension lift.

All was going well until I saw a Chris Harris video in 2014 with the new 991 GT3. wonder how much commission he receives for each sale?

My wife Jenny has had a silver 987 3.4 Boxster S, a 996 triple black 2003 cabriolet tiptronic and a black Macan diesel S. The Boxster was short lived though. She took it home on Saturday morning and injured her knee at tennis in the afternoon. I rang Sean at 9.00 am on the Monday and told him that we have a problem with the car. Sean replaced it with the 996 Cabriolet and was extremely relieved that I was not calling to say we had pranged the Boxster given it was still owned and insured by Porsche Centre Willoughby at that point. Porsche Centre Willoughby really is unique in its customer relationships. We believe the whole team treats us as part of the family. My wife Jenny and love dealing with people who understand what we want and go that extra step to deliver a great ownership experience. For example, when my 2014 991 GT3 was in for its annual service at Willoughby, I mentioned to Albert Howard as I was booking in that we were moving house and garage space was tight. Albert managed to squeeze the GT3 into Willoughby for two weeks while we moved. We were both surprised and delighted.

I have enjoyed participating in numerous Porsche activities over the years from driver training with Jenny to Targa High Country and drive days at various venues. If you have a Porsche you must drive it! We hope to attend an Ice Experience Finland event at some point when Covid recedes.

Jay took delivery of his 992 GT3 in November. This is his third GT3 amongst a diverse selection of Porsches over a 40 year period ranging from a 1978 911SC to a 997 GT2. His 992 GT3 2022 is a special car, with options carefully selected with expert guidance from Stewart Budd. Does it get any better than this?

Jay has his sights set on a great South Australian road trip in his Gentian Blue 992 GT3. Vineyards, art galleries and B&Bs are the order of the day guided by the 911's Porsche navigation system. Where to next?

The Taycan Cross Tourismo is brilliant and it is difficult to imagine a better and more versatile car. But I will need to apply some man maths to the issue first - although this has never been a problem before…

NEW ELECTRIC MOTOR NEW MODEL VARIANT

The new Porsche Taycan GTS

The sporty sweet spot of the Taycan range

G“I am particularly pleased that we now also have a Taycan with the legendary GTS moniker. It is positioned above the Taycan 4S and below the Taycan Turbo derivatives, so it represents a real sweet spot in the range.”

TTwelve years ago, Porsche introduced the first GTS version of the 911.

Now, there is a derivative featuring this legendary combination of letters in every Porsche model series. With Porsche revealing the new version of its electric sports car the Taycan GTS at the LA Auto Show.

"The Taycan model range has grown steadily since its world premiere in 2019. Up to five variant options offer something for everyone," said Kevin Giek, Vice President Model Line Taycan.

GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport. Since the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS of 1963, these three letters have held special significance for Porsche fans.

SThe Taycan GTS is the sporty all-rounder of the model range. It has an impressive 440 kW / 598 PS (horsepower) of overboost power available when using Launch Control. The Taycan GTS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The maximum speed of the model is 250 km/h.

The adaptive air suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), is specifically adapted to the GTS, to the benefit of its lateral dynamics. The set-up of the optional rear-axle steering is now also even sportier. The richer sound pattern of the modified Porsche Electric Sport Sound underscores the character of the new GTS model.

A Cross Turismo

Its origins: unmistakably Porsche. Its design language: a statement to the future. The Taycan Cross Turismo brings out its distinctive character, continuing the Porsche Design DNA.

Sometimes the soul reveals itself in the urge for personal freedom. With 20mm more ground clearance than the Taycan, the new Taycan Cross Turismo extends the limits of our possibilities – and unleashes exceptional performance in Gravel mode on rugged terrain. The optional off-road design package increases the ground clearance by a further 10mm at the ‘middle’ chassis level and underlines the fact that it stays on its feet off the beaten track: with integrated off-road design flaps for the lower valance, side skirts and rear diffuser.

This pronounced self-confidence is clearly visible in the perfect proportions and its impressive appearance with the specific Taycan Cross Turismo design. Front and rear aprons and side skirts have a distinctive design. The external appearance is perfectly complemented by wheel arch mouldings and unique wheel designs.

With 20mm more ground clearance than the Taycan, the Taycan Cross Turismo shows that its versatility extends beyond everyday life even when stationary.

The optional off-road design package also provides a further 10mm of ground clearance at the ‘middle’ chassis level as well as integrated off-road design flaps for the lower valance, side skirts and rear diffuser.

The profile reveals not only the iconic Porsche flyline, but also the rear in Taycan Cross Turismo design with a painted roof spoiler in black (high-gloss), large tailgate and flat rear screen – providing more headroom for rear passengers. This is particularly worthwhile in view of the extra-large panoramic fixed glass roof embedded in the shape of the vehicle.

It reaches way beyond the second row of seats and offers spectacular views of the passing sky. Optionally available roof rails make it possible to install a practical roof box.

Interior Design

From the outside, it is a mere formality to quickly identify a Porsche as such. And in the interior, you can also sense distinctive Porsche genes in the new Taycan. The basic features of the interior architecture are sporty, minimalist and clear; the wing extending from the centre console catches your eye and appears to be floating. The innovative cockpit displays are clearly driver-oriented, allowing you to keep an eye on the most important information, even during dynamic driving.

The ascending centre console underlines the deep, sporty position of the driver’s seat. This takes the form of a 14 or 18-way adjustable seat with narrow headrests. In addition, the interior also focuses on sustainability. So you can optionally select the sustainably treated OLEA club leather.

Behind the wheel, you feel that the Taycan has been tailormade for you. While your front and rear passengers enjoy an equally comfortable, sporty ride on lightweight seats with solid lateral support.

Recesses in the design of the battery integrated in the underbody ensure comfortable legroom for rear passengers. On request, your Taycan can also be fitted with a 4+1 seating configuration.

As well as the 84-litre luggage compartment at the front for smaller items, the rear boot in the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo has 446 litres and the Taycan 4S and Turbo Cross Turismo have 405 litres litres of storage space that can be flexibly expanded, thanks to individually folding rear seat backrests. In other words: the Taycan is a highly sophisticated electric sports car. And yet, like all its predecessors, totally suitable for everyday use.

Sporty, modern and exclusive like the Taycan, but there is still more to discover – this is how the interior of the Taycan Cross Turismo reveals itself. Compared with the Taycan, its cockpit that is clearly focused on the driver offers for example, an optional integrated compass on the dashboard. From the B-pillar, it focuses on a particularly generous amount of space – for the next shopping trip or a long-weekend break.

But the Taycan Cross Turismo not only provides drivers and passengers with a comfortable travel experience and plenty of space. The same applies to the flexible storage areas. The front luggage compartment is complemented by an enlarged rear boot, which can be extended up to a total of 446 litres to a total of 1,212 litres when the rear seat backrests are

What applied to the legendary model 356 from 1948, applies even more so to the new Taycan and new Taycan Cross Turismo: a vehicle concept that reflects changing automotive times requires a soul with the prestigious Porsche title.

We call the Taycan and the Taycan Cross Turismo cockpit ‘Advanced’, because it has many pioneering features. It uses technology to increase its simplicity – while providing inspiration.

folded down. In addition, the functional and foldable luggage compartment cover can be easily stowed behind the rear seats and the vehicle can be conveniently loaded and unloaded via the enlarged tailgate.

This not only makes it possible to create weekends that include a wide range of activities, but also to master the demands of everyday life.

Performance

The Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo are designed to be comfortable at any speed. And their Porsche Crest guarantees that they have intelligent systems to ensure that their drivers are equally comfortable. Adapt your car to your requirements, by selecting up to six driving modes. You can use these to optimally adjust various vehicle systems such as the air intake flaps, rear spoiler, thermal management, drive or chassis for every situation.

In Normal mode, the car achieves a perfect balance between efficiency, comfort and dynamics. The driving mode for all those who don’t wish to select a driving mode.

In Sport mode, the systems are set for enhanced emotionality and performance. Damping and spring rate are significantly adjusted to sporty driving, battery cooling is intensified and the chassis is tightened.

A newly developed, automatically switching two-speed transmission on the rear axle ensures noticeably improved dynamics. The extremely short-ratio first gear benefits initial acceleration, while the long-ratio second gear holds acceleration reserves for high-speed manoeuvres.

If you select Sport Plus mode, the systems are honed further. The chassis descends to its lowest level, the front air intake flaps open on demand and other systems, such as the rear-axle steering or chassis, are primed for maximum performance.

In Individual mode, the vehicle settings can be combined, based on Normal, Sport or Sport Plus modes. In Range mode, the entire vehicle is tuned for maximum efficiency and range. It starts in second gear – as in Normal mode. In addition, top speed is limited and the air conditioning is turned down,

although you can modify individual settings, of course. Gravel mode is reserved for the Taycan Cross Turismo and optimises driving in easy terrain, for example over gravel or mud. For even more freedom – also off the beaten track. The Launch Control function also produces maximum acceleration from a standing start. It can be activated in both Sport and Sport Plus mode to prepare all systems for a rapid get-away.

Porsche Centre Willoughby takes customers to a pavement to enjoy and indulge in their Porsche passions in a stunning private country facility, the result? Pure Bliss.

When I was a kid I bought a Porsche matchbox car and I said to myself, “one day I will own one of these!” says Graham Campion at the Porsche Centre Willoughby Drive day at 70 North. That day came after a visit to the Porsche Willoughby dealership showroom recently, where there were some beautiful cars on the floor. Graham continues; I recall a Taycan was available, but I thought to myself, no I’ll stay true to my charter of a ‘911 will be my first Porsche’ and I’m glad did. For me the Carrera S is the sweet spot in the range, I don’t need anything more or anything less.

I am here to enjoy my first Porsche, a 992 911 Carrera S in Crayon, I’m not here to break records; I’ve been to a drive day at Eastern Creek and also completed the level 1 Driver Training course, and today is the first time I’ve been up here to this amazing private country road.

What a lovely excuse to go for a drive on a Wednesday. I’m in the hotels and pubs game and no exaggeration, we’ve had a very busy few weeks with the reopening, we were closed all up for 200 days over the last 18 months. really appreciate days and events like this, which break up the week and certainly like the approach of just being out on a spirited country road with no oncoming cars to worry about. My mind is free to worry about staff shortages! Ha.

It truly is an amazing piece of equipment. Every time I get out of it, I say so to anyone who will stand still. All the glowing articles about them do not lie and the experience of driving something like that is why I go to work.

Willoughby Drive Experience

Johnny Lee who drives a 991 911 Carrera 4 GTS is here for the first time. Johnny who has enjoyed the Willoughby Drive the Range days up to the Hunter Valley was excited to experience 70 North, he says: I tried to get a spot at the last event, but positions were filled very quickly.

Stewart Budd calmed my nerves at driving the much talked about private road by saying to me that it’s just a nice country road with no oncoming traffic and no police. First time out I took it easy in Sport mode, then moved to Sport Plus in the next session, I felt a bit looser and the fun level was increasing with the speed. I admit was getting cranky at myself for not holding firm before breaking at the end of the straight but really that’s not the point is it. We are not winning anything out here. My car is a 911 Carrera 4 GTS, the last of the natural aspirated 991 models. It’s been amazing. had liked it before but now I love it.

Shen Wong and Yoon Chung are discussing the day, lets grab a few words: I’m driving the Night Blue 991 911 GT3 Touring says Shen. It’s fantastic, the people here are fantastic which makes the event experience so smooth. For a drive day this really is a chilled out and relaxed environment for the drivers, everybody’s open to talking about their cars, themselves and the journey.

Meet Yoon, it is his first time here also, he has a 996.2 911 GT3 in Silver, he shares: I’ve only had the car a couple of months, it’s my first Porsche, first time at the 70 North, first GT3 - so I’m learning everything all at once today! This event has a great social environment, it’s sensational. In the first session was having a ball in the car, it’s so capable! I’m really enjoying the fact that there’s no nannies; no traction control, stability control, it’s all me. do love how any input, no matter how subtle, the car reacts accordingly. I’m loving exiting corners in the GT3, it’s just beautiful around here. I have a lot to learn in the 911, coming from a BMW I’m adapting to a different driving style in the 911 which is a pure sports car.

MICHAEL DONNELLY

SERVICE CONSULTANT

What is your role at PCW?

am a Service Consultant here at Willoughby, I take pride in developing relationships with current and new PCW customers.

Tell us a little bit about your motoring background?

qualified as a trained motor mechanic in Ireland before relocating to the United Arab Emirates to work in the motor industry over there, now here in Australia for a new chapter.

What appealed to you about working with the Porsche brand?

The biggest appeal for me was to fulfil my childhood dream to own a Porsche! Working at Willoughby really does define the differences in customer focus between other marques in the industry, I really appreciate that.

What has been your experience working with the PCW team?

This really is an amazing opportunity, the team at Porsche Centre Willoughby have become my second family, this place is part of my life.

Do you have a favourite model?

The 911 of course and it would be a 997 911 Carrera 4S new enough to use everyday and old enough to provide some analogue classic charm.

Describe your perfect day at Porsche Centre Willoughby?

The perfect day at PCW is everyday, I get a great sense of achievement in helping our clients solve any issues they may have. it's my goal to meet and exceed their expectations.

How do you relax and unwind from a busy day?

After a busy day I spend time with family, I find relaxation in cycling, listening to music and catching up with friends.

How long have you been with PCW?

My PCW journey began in 2019.

How did you find your way here?

I had taken a break from the motor industry when a friend of mine who was an employee here asked if I wanted a real job?

So in the end I came recommended, the rest is history.

What has been a highlight during your time at PCW?

The memorable moments for me have been many, the 50th anniversary was brilliant as it involved so many customers in the celebration that totally transformed the dealership. Another was the launch of the 992 generation 911 in Australia which provided the opportunity to drive the Porsche on the race track.

How have you found PCW compared to the likes of the other luxury car brands you have worked for?

That is a simple answer, PCW and Porsche are ahead of the game, the systems and value on customer experience means that no other dealership or brand can compare.

Tell us about your life outside of PCW?

Life outside of PCW is all about family, making family memories is the best kind of busy.

718 CAYMAN GT4 RS POWERED BY SYNTHETIC FUELS

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS and its Clubsport variant have caused a stir at the GP Ice Race in Zell am See. Beyond the spectacular drives on ice and snow, their fuel also garnered some attention: they were powered by renewable petrol.

TThe Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is an uncompromising driver’s car designed to impress with its lightweight construction, extremely agile chassis set-up, sophisticated aerodynamics and unique soundtrack. At its first European appearance in Zell am See, the flagship of the 718 family demonstrated all this in impressive fashion – and with significantly reduced CO₂ emissions.

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS models were powered by synthetic fuels, which can make an important contribution to lowering carbon emissions in the transport sector. In this case, the fuel was a renewable petrol based on an advanced biofuel made of food waste products. The fuel had previously demonstrated its suitability for use in high-performance Porsche engines in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, where it was used in all the teams’ 911 GT3 Cup cars for every race of the 2021 season.

Lowering carbon emissions.

Porsche Board Member for Research and Development

Michael Steiner explains: “The huge number of vehicles on the world's roads – some 1.3 billion according to the latest figures – means that the transition to electric mobility is not happening fast enough to achieve the goals set out in the Paris Agreement. In addition, different regions of the world are adopting electric mobility at varying speeds, meaning vehicles with combustion engines will remain on the road for decades to come.”

With fuels produced in a virtually CO₂-neutral manner, existing vehicles could make their own contribution to rapid CO₂ reduction. “We urgently need a solution for the sustainable operation of existing fleets,” stresses rally legend Walter Röhrl. “This goal can be achieved with green

fuels, which are a sensible complement to electric vehicles.” In order to actively drive this development forward, construction of the first factory initiated by Porsche for the production of eFuels kicked off just a few weeks ago. eFuels are produced using electricity generated by wind power. Water is broken down into its components, hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2), via electrolysis. The hydrogen is then processed with CO₂ extracted from the air to produce e-methanol. In the next step, known as methanol-togasoline synthesis, it is turned into a synthetic raw gasoline, which in turn is processed into a standard-compliant gasoline fuel that can be used in all gasoline engines.

The Haru Oni joint project, involving Porsche, Siemens Energy and various other international partners, is the world's first integrated, large-scale commercial plant to manufacture these synthetic, almost carbon-neutral fuels. Located in the Magallanes Province of southern Chile, the plant takes advantage of the region's ideal conditions for generating wind energy, which will be used as a sustainable source of electricity to produce synthetic petrol.

From 2022, the pilot plant is expected to produce some 130,000 litres of eFuels per year. Porsche will purchase this volume in full – and will initially use the renewable synthetic fuel primarily in its motorsport activities. In the future, Porsche will use the eFuels in its own models with combustion engines – including classic cars.

“It’s a great hope of mine that in the future I will be able to drive old cars without a bad conscience because I am running them on eFuels,” adds Röhrl. “Fuelling a 50-year-old car with eFuels – that's pure sustainability.”

CAYMAN GT4 RS POWERED BY SYNTHETIC FUELS

NEW FLAGSHIP MODEL IN THE 718 FAMILY

The naturally aspirated flat-six engine, familiar from the 911 GT3 Cup racing car and the 911 GT3 series production model, forms the centrepiece of a sports car that has been designed for maximum driving pleasure. The engine revs as high as 9,000 rpm. Compared to the 718 Cayman GT4, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS has an extra 59 kW / 80 PS, resulting in a weight-to-power ratio of 2.83 kg/PS. Maximum torque has been increased from 430 to 450 Nm.

Among the striking features of the new, top-of-the-range 718 are the process air intakes behind the driver and passenger windows. The 718 Cayman normally has small side windows here. The new air intakes improve both the intake airflow and, at the same time, create a thrilling intake noise right next to the occupants' ears. The characteristic air intakes in front of the rear wheels have been retained and are used for engine cooling.

Like every modern RS model, the new 718 GT4 RS is exclusively available with the Porsche dual clutch transmission (PDK). This gearbox shifts through its seven gears at lightning speed and guarantees maximum performance. The gearshift paddles allow drivers to keep their hands on the steering wheel even when changing gear manually. Alternatively, they can use the re-designed selector lever on the centre console.

The sports low-ratio PDK underpins the incredible acceleration of this mid-engined sports car. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is capable of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds (GT4 with PDK: 3.9 seconds) and has a top speed of 315 km/h (GT4 with PDK: 302 km/h), which it reaches in seventh gear.

You have great plans for the future and we don’t want anything to stand in your way. In our experience, the better you plan your goals the easier they are to achieve. Our solution?

Porsche Guaranteed Future Value (GFV)^.

Porsche GFV^ is a flexible finance program that allows you to guarantee the minimum future value^ of your Porsche Macan at the time of purchase, giving you peace of mind knowing the value of your vehicle is secured.

How it works

1. Select your Porsche Macan model.

Whether you are selecting your Macan for business or personal use, you can choose the contract term that best suits your requirements. The interest rate is fixed for the life of your loan and there are no account keeping fees. At the end of your Porsche GFV^ contract, you will enjoy the choice of three options: trade-in, retain or return.

Benefits of guaranteeing your future value

Peace of mind knowing the minimum future value^ of your Porsche right from the start

A selection of three options at the end of your Porsche GFV^ contract

A personally tailored finance solution, based on the term and kilometre usage of your Porsche

Upgrade to the latest Porsche Macan model more often, enjoying the best of high performance, innovations and technologies

Maintaining your Porsche Macan

2. Select your preferred term from either 36 or 48 months, an annual kilometre allowance and repayment options that suit your lifestyle.

3. At the end of your chosen term, select from one of the three below end of term options:

Trade-in:

If you wish to trade-in your Porsche Macan for a new vehicle, all you need to do is return it to your Official Porsche Centre. If the trade-in value is higher than the GFV^, you can use this equity towards your new Porsche Macan.

Retain:

If you prefer to retain your Porsche Macan, simply let us know. Provided that you also meet the relevant payment obligations under your contract, you can purchase your vehicle outright for the GFV amount locked in at the start of the contract^.

Then your vehicle is yours to keep. Or you can choose to refinance your balloon at the end of the term.

Your Porsche is an investment in quality, so naturally you’ll want to maintain it accordingly. If you wish to return your Porsche Macan at the end of your finance agreement, it must meet the criteria set out within the Fair Wear and Tear Guide. Your vehicle must also not exceed the pre-nominated kilometre limit (set by you, based on your anticipated usage at the beginning of your contract). For more information, the Fair Wear and Tear Guide can be downloaded by scanning the QR code below. It can also be found on porsche.com.au/PorscheGFV.

^Porsche Guaranteed Future Value consists of an option to return your vehicle to Porsche Financial Services (PFS) ABN 20 097 071 460, Australian Credit Licence 389344, at the end of the term and requires PFS to purchase the vehicle at an agreed price determined by PFS, known as the Guaranteed Future Value (GFV). At the end of the term, you can elect to: (1) trade-in; (2) return; or (3) retain the vehicle by paying the GFV, which is a lump sum owed to PFS at the end of the loan term after all repayments have been made. You will be liable for any loan contract deficit and additional charges if you exceed the nominated kilometre allowance and/or the vehicle is not in an acceptable condition. Available on new and demonstrator Porsche Macan models. Contact your Official Porsche Centre to verify eligible vehicles for this program. PORSCHE DESIGN 50TH AN NIVERSARY

TTwo very special cars are the highlights of the anniversary year: the exclusive Porsche 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design and a historical 911 S 2.4 Targa from Porsche Design’s founding year of 1972, which has been faithfully restored by Porsche Classic.

What unites them is the colour scheme, which, in recalling the legendary Chronograph I designed by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972, sees both the exterior and the interior dominated by the colour black. The Porsche Museum will be celebrating the anniversary with its own special exhibition, opening on 19 January 2022.

“When you rethink the function of something, the form sometimes emerges as if by itself” – this was how F.A. Porsche described what still drives the engineers and designers at Porsche Design today. In 1972, he founded Porsche Design with his brother Hans-Peter. The designer of the Porsche 911 envisaged a company that would carry the principles and spirit of Porsche beyond the boundaries of the automobile. Porsche Design has long since become an internationally renowned premium lifestyle brand, known for functional and durable products with a purist aesthetic.

Totally unique: a 911 S 2.4 Targa signed by F.A. Porsche

For the past two years, Porsche Classic has been working on a unique project to celebrate 50 years of Porsche Design. A 911 S 2.4 Targa from 1972, the year Porsche Design was founded, has been restored for the anniversary.

“The vision was to produce a historical counterpart to the new 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design,” explains Ulrike Lutz, Head of Porsche Classic.

“With the aid of the new Sonderwunsch (special wishes) programme, we were able to implement the idea of a unique pair of vehicles. The job of the designers and works restorers was to carefully transfer the specifications of the new car to the classic.”

The base vehicle, a 911 T 2.4 Targa from 1972, was in a poor condition and was missing some parts. While this would normally be a tricky start to a restoration project, on this occasion it wasn’t important for the planned modifications. The Porsche Classic experts completely upgraded the engine and chassis to the specification of the S version. The top-of-the-range model in its day, it had a displacement of 2,341 cc, which generated 190 PS at 6,500 rpm, and was equipped with mechanical fuel injection.

In tribute to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, this one-of-a-kind vehicle features the same colours as the legendary Chronograph watch that he designed in 1972, with Black dominating both the exterior and interior. Classic side stripes with a Platinum satin finish and integrated Porsche Design lettering adorn the flanks. As a special highlight, the Targa roll bar has also been lasered in a Platinum satin finish – a new interpretation of the brushed stainless steel of the original classic model. The Targa lettering is finished in matt Black. Like the special edition model, the grille on the rear engine cover features a ‘Porsche Design 50th Anniversary’ badge with a reproduction of F.A. Porsche's signature.

“Good design must be honest,” F.A. Porsche always emphasised.

He designed the legendary Porsche 911 and founded the design studio in 1972. Today, Managing Director Roland Heiler and his team still follow that philosophy. Using authentic materials, they design carefully thought-out, functional and durable products with a purist aesthetic. As the in-house design team of the Porsche Design brand, their inspiring high-quality products include watches, sunglasses, luggage and leather goods.
