WREATHS It’s been said that less is more. While that may be true of architecture, Mies van der Rohe was not referring to holiday decor. This time of year, as Clark Griswold and like-minded people will agree, more is better.

One of the easiest and most effective ways to deck the halls is right at the front door. I like to begin with a color palette and some inspiration from iconic seasonal elements, especially Mother Nature. Here is an unexpected combination inspired by the hues of cinnamon and marshmallow. Sturdy evergreens paired with southern magnolia provide the base of this handcrafted wreath. Accents of frosted pinecones, copper-gilded branches, and faux leaves add seasonal f lair. Dried lotus pods and pheasant feathers enhance the natural and organic theme; thank you, Mother Nature. Rusted jingle bells and bleached ruscus unify the color palette.
