Most of all, the warmth of summer reminds us to be grateful, and this year the reasons are many. Celebrating 20 years in a vocation that intrinsically became a lifelong passion. How did we discover this treasure in the Gem State? Sometimes a little serendipity goes a long way. A while back, one of our executive team members was attending a conference where he met Russ Van Wagenen,
the owner of a small builder in Boise. After comparing aligned missions, conjuring up a splendid vision, and shaking hands on a new partnership, they soon realized that Idaho would be the perfect place for our fourth Schell Brothers division.
Chief Growth Officer, Jon Beaver, elaborated on the thought processes that brought the Idaho idea to fruition. “Remote employment has been expanding the universe for new home buyers,” he said. “These days, people are gravitating to beautiful places that offer a more fulfilling lifestyle. From outdoor activities to a lively downtown scene, Boise has so much to offer.”
Wondering when you’ll see our Schell Brothers homes on the Idaho landscape? According to Russ, it won’t be long. “We’re in the process of setting up offices, identifying communities, and assembling top trade partnerships,” he explained. “I’m excited to be part of the team. Look for us to be creating Schell happy stories by the end of this year.”

Be mindful of your bathroom size. Larger tiles, such as 12 x 24, in lighter colors can expand the feel of a small bathroom. Likewise, penny rounds, mini hex designs, and other small format tiles may diminish the perception of a large bathroom space.

DO: Be inspired by the latest trends.
DON’T: Chase those trends too far!
These days, trends fade quickly, so I suggest using them sparingly as inspiration for shapes, textures, colors, and patterns. Save time and money by not falling for color trends that require constant updates—especially when it comes to bath tiles that are not easily replaceable. Lean toward neutral styles and hues in modern tones and shapes. Accent the overall look with paint colors, lighting, and bath accessories. Remember: It’s your home. If it makes you happy, do it—just don’t get caught up in fads!
DO: Mix shapes and sizes of tile.
DON’T: Go overboard. Limit yourself to 2 or 3 different shapes and sizes. Mixing styles and shapes is a good way to create visual interest. However, too much variation may overwhelm your space, especially if the color scheme is not cohesive. Try using the same tile collection on the floor and walls of a bathroom, while adding a fun pattern for the tiled shower pan. Stay within your goal of incorporating 2 or 3 shapes and sizes, and coordinate countertops, cabinets, and bath hardware to pull the look together.
DO: Begin by identifying a starting element such as a cabinet, countertop, or paint color.
DON’T: Dismiss your starting element. First, choose your starting element. It’s the most important design feature in your bath—the touch of happiness you just can’t live without. Get inspired by scrolling through bath design photos as you consider cabinets, tiles, countertops, and more. If your favorite feature is a bold choice, you’ll want to keep the surrounding areas neutral and complementary. On the other hand, if your starting element is neutral, you can amp up the remaining design landscape. The key is to balance the space and ensure that the elements play well together. They can’t all be the star of the show!

When developing your bath design, take cues from the rest of your home. For example, if your kitchen island accent color is navy blue, consider a patterned floor tile in the powder room that incorporates a matching blue tone. Connections are the perfect way to share your home’s story.
DO: Balance the mood by varying the tile sizes and tones.
DON’T: Overdo your combinations.
Patterned tiles in multiple colors are today’s popular show stoppers. To balance the mood and prevent overstimulation, pair them with large, neutral wall tiles or subway tiles. Select a color from the patterned tile to find the perfect match. A little goes a long way, so limit the combinations of colors and small-scale tile patterns to avoid a cluttered, chaotic look. Afraid of the commitment? Start by adding patterned tiles to the floor in a powder room or a less-frequented guest bath.
If you could write your own story, perhaps you’d find your dream home, start a family, meet neighbors that become lifelong friends, and have close family right around the corner. Funny thing.
For Billy and Kaitlyn Roedel, that’s exactly what happened.
When Billy Roedel’s company gave him the opportunity to work remotely from a location of his choosing, it unleashed a world of possibilities. While they were ready for a new adventure, Billy and his wife, Kaitlyn, wanted to explore their options without moving too far from family and friends in their Long Island, New York community. Having heard about Lewes, Delaware, the couple headed to the First State for a visit. As soon as they arrived, they knew it was home.
“Lewes checked all our boxes,” said Billy. “It’s a beautiful, family-oriented area with a true sense of community. And the location makes it easy for us to stay connected with family and friends back home.”
Having decided on Lewes, the couple’s next step was finding the right neighborhood. Setting their sights on smaller, intimate communities, they envisioned a place where friendly people and a laid-back lifestyle were the main amenities. After a few weeks of researching
builders and embarking on home tours, Billy and Kaitlyn discovered Hailey’s Glen, and the search was over. “We fell in love with the quaintness of the community,” Kaitlyn explained. “It’s a close-knit neighborhood, which is exactly what we were looking for.” Billy added, “We like the idea of a small community where we can put a pool in our own backyard.”
Once they landed on the community, choosing the right home was a quick decision. “As soon as we walked into The Southport, we knew it was the home for us,” said Kaitlyn. “Actually, we didn’t even consider another
model. I love to cook, so the island sealed the deal for me!”
Along with the kitchen, it was the home’s combination of openness and versatility that sold the couple on The Southport. They were drawn to the floor plan’s cozy, inviting atmosphere. “We especially like the way the loft overlooks the living room space,” Billy said. “And we immediately began visualizing how we could use the large, unfinished storage room. After considering many ideas, we’re excited about our plans to transform it into a kids playroom.”
With the initial decisions behind them,
they were concerned that a new home build would be difficult to manage from a distant location. “We were first-time home buyers living in another state, so we had no idea what to expect. But building with Schell turned out to be a wonderful experience,” Billy said. “The process was seamless from start to finish.”
As home-buying newbies, the couple had plenty of questions along the way, from selections and building details to walkthroughs and closing procedures. “Any time we had a question, Tarah was so responsive and willing to talk us through it. We really enjoyed seeing our choices come to life as the house
was being built,” said Kaitlyn.
Having lived in Hailey’s Glen for a year, Kaitlyn and Billy reflected on their new home, explaining that they have enjoyed decorating every space and making it their own. While most of their time is spent in the living room, loft, and kitchen, another room has recently stolen their hearts. With a new baby girl on the way this summer, the couple has spent hours of time creating a nursery and imagining their future life as a family.
And, as their family grows, what could be better than having grandparents nearby? Soon after making their purchase decision, the couple learned that Billy’s parents, William and Mary Roedel, would be their neighbors at Hailey’s Glen. What began as a joke soon turned into serious conversations that resulted in a second Roedel family’s move from Long Island to a Southport of their own. “We had been considering a move, but building a new home in Long Island was out of the question due to the real estate taxes,” William explained. “It took a while for us to seriously consider moving to Delaware, but
the tax benefit is a no-brainer, and of course we’re thrilled to be near family.”
Now that they’ve settled into a Southport of their own, William and Mary are enjoying the extra space it offers for their collections and hobbies. As an avid collector of model cars and trains, William plans to convert the unfinished storage room into a panorama for his railroad display. In addition to their new home, William and Mary have quickly embraced the benefits of their beach lifestyle and proximity
to family. Mary said, “We couldn’t be happier with our decision,” as Billy quipped, “If it’s possible, I think they may like Delaware even more than we do!”
Knowing that their daughter will grow up with grandparents nearby has further confirmed the young couple’s decision to move to Hailey’s Glen. “It’s been such a blessing for us to have family here, especially with a baby on the way,” Kaitlyn said. “When Billy and I decided to move to Delaware, we

knew we’d be doing it all alone. But quickly after we moved here, his aunt and uncle purchased a home in Milton, and now his parents are right on our same block! We went from having no family support in the area to being surrounded by loved ones. Now I need to work on getting my side of the family here, too!”
As Kaitlyn and Billy described life at Hailey’s Glen, it became clear that, for them, the community’s strongest attribute is the friendship factor. “This neighborhood is truly special,” Kaitlyn said. “Billy and I often joke that we’re busier here than we ever were on Long Island.” Undergoing some health problems last year, Kaitlyn was heartened by the number of neighbors who stopped by to check in with her, send flowers, or reach out to see how Billy was doing. “It’s truly amazing to be surrounded by such caring people,” Billy said. He explained that there is no such thing as a quick walk in their neighborhood because everyone stops for chats that ultimately turn a short jaunt into an hour’s journey. “We wouldn’t have it any other way,” Kaitlyn chimed in. “We’ve already built an extended family here in our little community. Neighbors are quickly becoming lifelong friends.”

enjoy year-round opportunities to explore new places, although they are partial to a summer afternoon on the Rehoboth boardwalk with their Yorkie, Boo. “Some of our favorite days have been spontaneous ones where we end up wine tasting in Frankford or checking out the boardwalk in Ocean City,” said Billy.
As a self-described Target girl, Kaitlyn was quick to admit that she has made frequent trips to Dover for her shopping fix, citing this convenience as another benefit of the Lewes location. When she is not busy shopping,
Kaitlyn often can be found conjuring up a recipe in her new kitchen, with sourdough being her current obsession. Along with tackling the couple’s DIY projects, Billy enjoys watching the New York Knicks in his spare time.
Together, some of their favorite outings are culinary themed, so the two foodies are always on the lookout for a new restaurant. With easy access to some of the area’s finest local eateries, a few of their top choices include Kindle, Agave, Salt Air, Eden, and 1776. “And, we’ve had amazing brunches at Somewhere in Rehoboth and Harbour in Lewes,” Kaitlyn said. Mary agreed, saying, “Along with their list, William and I would add Victoria’s, Tokyo Steakhouse, and The Station on Kings.”
Now that both couples have moved in, they’ve begun to truly understand what a gift it is to have neighbors who are also their family. “Most of all, we look forward to sharing the milestones,” Mary said.
For Billy and Kaitlyn, what started with the charm of Hailey’s Glen turned into a tale wonderfully interwoven with family. Perhaps that sentiment is summed up best in a photo of Mary and William that was taken inside their new home while it was under construction. As Billy’s parents smiled for the camera, a message they had written on the unfinished wall of The Southport behind them read: “2024 Great Year! New House + New Grandchild!”
And so, a new story begins.

Grilled Crusty Bread with Wild Mushroom Salad and Fire Roasted Tomato Bruschetta
Yield: 6-8 servings
INGREDIENTS
CRUSTY BREAD:
1 baguette
2 sticks butter, room temperature
1 bunch fresh thyme
1 bunch parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
WILD MUSHROOM SALAD:
5 cloves garlic, crushed
1 shallot, sliced
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
10 ounces wild mushrooms, sliced
Sea salt and black pepper to taste
FIRE ROASTED TOMATO
BRUSCHETTA:
4-5 large ripe tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
(optional)
1 small bunch fresh basil leaves, chopped
INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE CRUSTY BREAD:
Slice baguette at an angle, with pieces approximately ½-inch thick for expanded surface area.
In a bowl, mix softened butter, thyme, parsley, sea salt, and black pepper. Spread butter mixture on each bread slice and place them butter-side down on a hot grill. Cook the bread about 2 minutes, until nice grill marks and a crust start to form.
FOR THE MUSHROOM SALAD:
In a mixing bowl, combine crushed garlic, sliced shallot, olive oil, vinegar, and turmeric. Mix well and add sliced mushrooms. Allow salad to sit in the refrigerator for 10 minutes and then toss before serving.
FOR THE FIRE ROASTED TOMATO BRUSCHETTA:
Preheat grill or broiler to high heat.
Rinse tomatoes, pat them dry, and cut in half horizontally. Place tomato halves, cut side down on the grill or under the broiler. Cook for 5-7 minutes until skins start to blister and char. Flip them over and cook another 3-5 minutes until the skins are charred and tomatoes are softened.
Remove tomatoes from heat and allow them to cool slightly. When cool enough to handle, remove and discard skins; then dice tomatoes into small pieces.
In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes with minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar (as preferred). Mix well.
Add chopped basil leaves to tomato mixture and gently stir to combine. Adjust seasoning to taste.
TO SERVE
Place wild mushroom salad and fire roasted tomato bruschetta in separate bowls and arrange crusty bread slices on a platter, allowing guests to create their preferred combinations.
Roasted Baby Potatoes
Yield: 6-8 servings
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds baby potatoes, washed and dried
1 tablespoon sea salt
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 yellow onion, julienned
1 tablespoon thyme
4 tablespoons (½ stick) butter
Cracked black pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 400˚F.
In a mixing bowl, toss potatoes with salt and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Place potatoes on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 15 minutes or until they become soft to the touch. Remove potatoes from the oven and cool at room temperature.
Adjust oven temperature to 450˚F.
Once potatoes are cool, cut them in half and add to a mixing bowl with the onion, thyme, butter, and pepper. Mix well, ensuring that all contents are coated.
Place seasoned potatoes on a baking sheet in the oven. Cook at 450˚F until potatoes are golden brown and onions have developed a slight char.
Before serving, allow potatoes to rest for approximately 5 minutes to retain a nice crunch.
Summer Squash Salad
Yield: 6-8 servings
INGREDIENTS
2 zucchini squash
2 yellow squash
1 pint cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
2 tablespoons basil, chopped
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon sherry vinegar
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
1 cup arugula
INSTRUCTIONS
Under running water, scrub the zucchini and squash, and trim off tops and buttons. Use a vegetable peeler to cut long strips, peeling until you get to the center seeds and then turning the squash and repeating the process on all sides. Discard seeds.
In a mixing bowl, add the peelings, tomatoes, basil, parsley, olive oil, sherry vinegar, and salt. Gently mix together, trying not to break the squash and zucchini ribbons. If preferred, add crushed red peppers to spice up the dish. Carefully add arugula just before serving.
Oven Roasted Salmon with Herb Salad Topping
Yield: 6-8 servings
INGREDIENTS
HERB SALAD TOPPING:
1 bunch Italian parsley, rough chopped
1 bunch dill, rough chopped
¼ cup shallot, diced
1 cup arugula or spinach, rough chopped
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ tablespoon olive oil
¼ teaspoon fresh lemon juice
SALMON:
1 side of salmon (about 2.5 pounds), skin removed
2 tablespoons sea salt
½ tablespoon sugar
½ tablespoon dill, chopped
½ tablespoon thyme, chopped
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
2 tablespoons olive oil
INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE HERB SALAD TOPPING:
In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and toss lightly.
FOR THE SALMON:
Preheat oven to 400˚F.
In a small mixing bowl, combine salt, sugar, dill, thyme, and crushed peppers (if preferred). Slowly add olive oil to create a nice paste.
Generously rub salmon with the prepared seasoning mix and place on a parchment- or foil-lined baking sheet.
Place salmon in the oven and cook for about 10 minutes, checking for doneness with a food thermometer. For fish that is fully cooked through, the recommended temperature is 145˚F. Note that cooking times may vary depending on salmon size and oven characteristics.
Allow salmon to rest a few minutes before carefully transferring to a serving platter. Top salmon with the herb salad before serving.
Summer Berry Trifle
Yield: 6-8 servings
INGREDIENTS
SCONE:
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
Raisins or currants (optional)
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg (for egg wash)
TRIFLE :
3 cups whipped cream
½ pint blueberries
½ pint strawberries, quartered
½ pint raspberries
3 tablespoons honey
6 scones
INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE SCONES:
Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add cold butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. If preferred, stir raisins or currants into the crumb flour mixture.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour the wet ingredients into it. Stir gently with a fork or a wooden spoon until just combined. Do not overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a 1-inch thick round. Using a circular cutter or glass tumbler, cut out scones from the dough. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving ample space between each.
In a small bowl, beat the egg into a wash and brush it on top of each scone.
Bake scones in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown. Allow the scones to cool on a wire rack.
FOR THE TRIFLE:
In a mixing bowl, add blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Drizzle honey over the berries and allow them to sit for 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
Break scones into bite-size pieces and separate into three even piles. In a trifle dish or clear glass bowl, add a pile of scones and then layer 1 cup of the mixed berries on top. Next, layer 1 cup of whipped cream over the berries. Continue these layering steps until all ingredients are used.
Note: You may need to alter the recipe to accommodate the size of dish used. Don’t have a trifle dish? Create a summer evening dessert by cutting the scones open, spooning berries in, and topping with whipped cream.
Welcome Batched Cocktails Summer Refreshers:
Summer Day Lemonade
INGREDIENTS
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
5 cups cold water
Ice cubes
Lemon slices and fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Recommended Adult Add-on: Dogfish Head
Compelling Gin
INSTRUCTIONS
Juice lemons to produce 1 cup of fresh juice. Use approximately 4-6 lemons, depending on their size and juiciness.
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the granulated sugar. Warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved, creating a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.
In a pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, remaining 4 cups of cold water, and cooled simple syrup. Stir well to combine. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar as desired. Tartness may vary depending on the lemons used. Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour fresh lemonade overtop, and garnish each glass with a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh mint, if desired. Stir lemonade before serving to ensure that the flavors are well distributed. Serve and enjoy refreshing homemade lemonade on a hot summer day!
Summer Spiced Tea
INGREDIENTS
4 bags black tea
16 cups water
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
9 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
Ice cubes
Lime wedges for garnish
Recommended Adult Add-on: Tequila or Mezcal
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large pot, combine tea bags, water, grated ginger, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing flavors to infuse into the liquid.
Remove pot from heat and cool contents to room temperature. Then, strain liquid into a pitcher to remove tea bags and spices. Stir in granulated sugar until completely dissolved. Taste the tea and adjust preferred sweetness by adding sugar.

4 teaspoons sugar (adjust to taste)
4 limes, juiced
4 cups fresh watermelon cubes
Club soda

INSTRUCTIONS
In a large pitcher or beverage dispenser, add mint, sugar, and lime juice. Muddle until mixture is well combined and the mint becomes very fragrant.
Place watermelon cubes in a blender and mix until well liquefied. Note: Smaller watermelon cuts and the use of an immersion blender will simplify this task. When liquified, strain the mixture if desired to remove excess pulp.
Add watermelon juice to the sugar-mint mixture, stirring to ensure it is well combined. Slowly stir in club soda to fill the vessel.
Garnish the drink with watermelon slices and a sprig of fresh mint.
Optional: Rim the glass with sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.

Meet Drew Duklewski and his wife, Ivana, and see why their kids’ smiles are biggest when the waves are crashing.
HOW DID YOU END UP IN LEWES?
DREW: I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved here in 2015. My parents were originally from Baltimore, so they decided to retire in Rehoboth to be closer to family. After graduating from the University of Memphis, I followed suit.
IVANA: I was raised in Milford, and the beaches have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My first job in high school was scooping ice cream at Cold Stone in Rehoboth. I love it here and wouldn’t want my kids to grow up anywhere else.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LIVING IN LEWES?
IVANA: My favorite part about living in Lewes is its accessibility to the open ocean. The amazing array of food, festivities, and smalltown camaraderie are all icing on the cake.
DREW: Coming from a landlocked state, the beach was most intriguing to me. Also, the proximity to Pennsylvania and Maryland was appealing as I considered potential jobs after college.
”HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT SCHELL?
DREW: After graduating and moving from Memphis, I settled in Sussex County. I took a bartending job at Big Fish Grill located next to Schell's main office and noticed their billboards around town. Their homes were unlike the others, and I could see that Schell was different. While continuing my career in the restaurant industry in Lewes, I watched Schell’s growth and deep involvement in

the community, and I wanted to be part of that. At the time, my parents were living in a townhome in Rehoboth and needed a bigger place that would accommodate visits with the grandkids. After I saw how happy my parents were with their home and the building process, I knew I wanted to work for Schell. I’ve been in the Warranty Department for five years now and it was the best decision of my life.
DREW, TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOB. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT IT?
DREW: My job in Schell’s Warranty Department consists of acquainting new owners with their homes and making sure
they understand how everything works. Most importantly, I set expectations by giving people the knowledge they need to succeed in keeping their homes beautiful and functioning. I also manage our trade partners when follow-up work is needed in a home after settlement. This is all possible through our operating system called Heartbeat, which gives me the opportunity to be in constant communication with homeowners throughout the warranty period. As corny as it sounds, I truly enjoy helping our homeowners throughout their journey.
FAVORITE MEMORY WHILE WORKING FOR SCHELL?
DREW: From volunteering at Schellville to helping with various projects, I’ve enjoyed being part of the team that supports our trades
and the community every year. It’s really been rewarding to see the homeowners become part of their new communities.
WITH SO MANY NEW HOME COMMUNITIES TO CHOOSE FROM, HOW DID YOU LAND ON MARSH ISLAND? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT ABOUT LIVING AT MARSH ISLAND?
IVANA: As soon as Marsh Island was announced as an upcoming community, Drew and I had an eye on it. It was a no-brainer for us due to the accessibility to Rehoboth Bay and the awesome dock that is basically in our backyard! Did I mention that it’s time for us to get a boat?! An added plus is that we live one street over from my parents and only five minutes from Drew’s mom and dad.

WHAT FLOOR PLAN DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
DREW: We chose The Mayberry with a finished basement and bonus room. Since we have young children, we love having all the main living areas and bedrooms on the first floor—with a wide footprint that gives us the distance all families appreciate.
IVANA: We were moving out of a two-story townhome with the primary bedroom on the first floor and the other two bedrooms upstairs. We love the single-floor living The Mayberry offers. As a young growing family, we wanted all the babies on the same floor.
DREW: And the finished bonus room upstairs is like a secluded studio apartment for guests.
IVANA: A few other features that were superimportant to me were a dedicated mudroom and a separate laundry room as well as a basement where the kids can run wild. The Mayberry delivered on all my hopes and dreams while still maintaining that cozy ranch feeling.
WHAT IS THE FAVORITE ROOM IN YOUR HOME?
DREW: I would have to say that our finished basement is my favorite; it’s like another house down there. We have so much room,
along with the ability to finish future spaces as needed. To me, the basement is a must.
IVANA: My favorite room is the mudroom. We decided to add built-in lockers for the kids, and I just love the look and functionality. It keeps the mess contained and feeds my internal need for organization. But the great room is a close second. I love walking into my house and feeling so refreshed with the light drenching our main living area. It feels bright, airy, and homey.
WAS IT DIFFICULT CHANGING GEARS AND GOING FROM BEING AN EMPLOYEE TO A CLIENT?
DREW: Honestly, it was cool seeing what our clients experience and now I can really relate to it from their perspective.
YOU'RE BUSY PARENTS OF 3 BEAUTIFUL KIDDOS. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO AS A FAMILY?
DREW: We love anything that keeps us busy, whether it’s the beach, hanging out in the basement, or taking bike and scooter rides. We usually gravitate toward activities that keep us out of the house; that way we don’t have to clean up as many messes.
IVANA: Our happy place as a family is definitely on the sand and in the waves where our kiddos love the freedom of running in the
crashing water. We spend a lot of time on the drive-on beaches and at after-school family dinners at the beach. In the winter, we like to count down the days until summer!
HOW ABOUT A TYPICAL DATE NIGHT? WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL SPOTS?
DREW: An ideal date night for us would be a summer evening in Lewes eating at our favorite spot—Lewes Oyster House—before popping over to Kings for some local ice cream.
IVANA: We don’t have as much time for date nights these days, but some other favorites have been a night at La Fable, Dogfish Head, the Starboard Raw Bar—or Northbeach if we’re feeling really spicy! Now that we bring our kids along with us, we frequent Dewey Beer Company in Harbeson because it has a laidback vibe where they can play while Drew and I chat over drinks.

Located just off Broadway, the impressive venue is a must-see addition to your daily plan. After you’ve perused the exhibits, head upstairs to recap your favorites over lunch at Assembly Food Hall, one of America’s largest eateries of its kind.

HOUSTON ART CRAWL ↑
Hosted on the first Saturday of the month, the Wedgewood-Houston Art Crawl is the key to the city’s legit underground art scene. Featuring 10 contemporary gallery spaces interspersed with a variety of restaurants, coffee houses, and bars, this neighborhood is quickly becoming the visual arts center of Nashville. While you’re in the area, be on the lookout for Louis, who also happens to be a gallery VP. When you’re ready for a break between exhibits, he recommends Dicey’s Pizza and Tavern along with the espresso martini at Americano Lounge.
