Must Visit New restaurants making moves!
New restaurants making moves! Whether they’re moving from Cape Town to Johannesburg, from Rosebank to Sandton, or opening their doors for the very first time, these fine restaurants are making serious moves, bringing fresh, exciting new dining experiences to South Africans and visitors alike. Here are this season’s must-try new restaurants.
THE SHORTMARKET CLUB
Cape Town’s beloved establishment, The Shortmarket Club by Chef Luke Dale Roberts, has embarked upon a new chapter by opening its doors in Johannesburg. On the fine-dining menu of this elegant eatery, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating, is a mouth-watering smorgasbord of Asian-influenced small plates, decadent seafood platters, and succulent prime cuts of the finest meat cooked to order by Head Chef Taryn Smith. And the vibe? Heritage brasserie meets sultry, smoky cigar lounge (without the actual smoke). Rosebank, JHB www.theshortmarketclub.co.za
ETHOS, JOHANNESBURG
There’s a whole lot of “new” going on at the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Ethos. For starters, they’ve transitioned to a new space at Oxford Parks in Rosebank; for entrées, they’ve teamed up with culinary superhero Chef Luke Dale Roberts, who has designed a brand-new menu and appointed Executive Chef, Ken Phuduhudu to lead the team; and for desserts, diners can expect a casual fine-dining vibe. The philosophy here is that you eat with your eyes first, so diners can expect food as beautiful to taste as it is to behold. Rosebank, JHB @ethos.sa
