SINGLE OR IT’S COMPLICATED: Steps To Keeping The Blues At Bay This Holiday Season Well, Honeybuns, it's that time of the year again. The holidays are upon us and, like clockwork, our emotions are in full bloom. You're either singing Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" or you're mumbling the lyrics to "I Want To Come Home For Christmas '' by Marvin Gaye under your breath. This season every year seems to call for a full-on reality check, a good, hard look in the mirror. Will I be alone again this year? Will I be spending another 365 days with someone who makes me stick to my stomach? Or, if you're among the blessed ones, is it time to pop some champagne because the holidays are about to be lit? Whether you're single, taken, or it's complicated, the holidays can be as tough as a three-day-old bagel. But, never fear, I'm here to offer you a "how-to" guide on navigating this festive chaos without falling into the pit of despair because your life isn't looking like a Hallmark movie. And let's be real, whose life actually does? For our single souls, this isn't a season to flood your mind with thoughts of why you're still single. You're fabulous, and here are five ways to make sure you remember that this holiday season: 1) Treat yourself: You're your own best date. Take yourself out for a fancy dinner, buy that expensive bottle of wine, or splurge on that gadget you've been eyeing. Girl, get the new dress and the shoes too. 2) Friendsgiving: Who needs a significant other when you have friends who love you? Arrange a friends-only holiday party and celebrate the love you share. Don’t forget to tell each other how much you appreciate them and oh yeah, you can’t forget the wine and the chocolate!!!!! 3) Volunteer: Give back to the community. It's a great way to spread joy and you might meet some amazing people while doing it. If nothing else, you will start to appreciate the great things about your life. 4) Self-care: Take a spa day, read a good book, or simply relax. You're under no obligation to be "busy" this season. Stop and smell the freaking roses. Okay maybe not, roses don’t actually smell like anything to me but that dish at your favorite restaurant smells really good. Solo dates are nicer than you think. 5) Travel: If you can, take a trip. Experiencing a new place can be a fantastic way to rejuvenate and gain new perspectives. You never know, you just might meet your Wow Factor. Now, for those of you who are taken but not exactly on cloud nine, here are five ways to ensure that you and your mate sail through the holidays with as little tension as possible: 1) Communicate: Talk about your expectations and fears. It's cliche, but communication really is key. Stop walking on eggshells and learn to express yourself to your mate. In a diplomatic matter of course. 2) Create new traditions: If old holiday traditions are causing stress, create new ones that you both enjoy. 3) Time apart: It's okay to take some time for yourself. You don't have to be joined at the hip. We all need a break from our realities every so often. 4) Be forgiving & considerate: The holiday season can be stressful for everyone. Be easy on each other. Take the time to talk to your mate and ask them how they are doing and wait for an answer. 5) Seek help: If things are really tough, don't hesitate to seek professional help. There's no shame in it. Therapy or a life coach can make a big difference in your life. Are you ready, Honeybuns?. The holiday season is here, and it's going to be a wild ride. But remember, whether you're single, taken, or somewhere in between, the holidays are about joy and love. And you, my dear, are deserving of both. You got this! It’s all in how you choose to move. How To Find A Good Partner BY Kisha Green First, let's understand and fully grasp the concept that NOT every time a single person is single is because they cannot keep a partner. Everyone's looking for someone instead of using that energy to become the best version of themselves. Sometimes, they seek peace, which comes from within, and once that is obtained, they can put their best foot forward before expecting it to be it for someone else. The most important rule is to be the kind of person you want to attract So many times, there are red flags, BLOODY RED flags, but we will pretend that we do not see them, which sets us up for more disappointment than we could ever imagine. Often, after being hurt many times, we will put up a guard to repel the losers, but it also scares off the good ones because of past hurts and traumas. You must keep reminding yourself that one bad apple does not necessarily spoil all of the bunch, and you must remember that a suitable mate will always possess reliable and steady characteristics that make you feel physically and emotionally safe. Even though you grew accustomed to lies and deceit in the past, this new potential will not lie, cheat, or steal. It may sound like common sense, but many people have accepted those flaws to say they have someone, and if it is a serious, committed relationship you desire, a healthy relationship of any kind does not contain either of them. Lastly, being supportive is a must-have, and this does not mean that you are constantly saying yes, but it means you need to offer aid when needed and celebrate while showing up fully and not holding yourself back.

Good Luck and Happy Dating!

Triune Training’s Monthly Health Tips/Advice By Calvin W. Howell III Everyone is dealing with SOMETHING. We all go through rough patches, where things aren’t rainbows and lollipops. The fall is fast approaching, which means the holidays aren’t far behind. Although the holidays are typically considered a joyous occasion, for some it’s not. According to the American Psychological Association, 38% of people surveyed said their stress increased during the holiday season, which can lead to physical illness, depression, anxiety, and substance misuse. The reasons given: lack of time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family gatherings.

So, if you or a family member are dealing with something, feeling a little down, feeling a little off, there is nothing wrong with asking for help. Break free from the mental health stigma that plagues our community. There are various resources at your disposal, for example if your employer has an EAP (employee assistance program). EAP is one of the benefits that is significantly underutilized, take full advantage of your resources. I’m a big advocate for EAP services. I’ve taken advantage of the services provided through an EAP in the past. Please note that EAP isn’t just mental health programs, but also includes, but not limited to, health and caregiving, family services, substance abuse, and financial services.

Also a quick Google search for Mental Health Resources pull up various online mental health resources that you can always access. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. ... Crisis Text Line. ... Mental Health America. ... Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) ... 7Cups. ... The Trevor Project. ... Moodfit. ... Happify.

You can eat all the kale, lift all the weights, even hustle harder than William Roberts II, but if you don’t take care of your mental health, it’s all in vain.

Take care of yourself; mind, body, and spirit!

Calvin Howell III Triune Training Fitness Trainer (NASM Certified Nutrition Coach & Weight Loss Specialist) The mind, body, and spirit are three of the major elements of any major wellness plan. Triune Training provides full cycle fitness consultation.

Her Name Is Sadie Star

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 10

KDesigning The Future Of Media Radio Host| Shoe Designer | Entrepreneur Sadie Star By Lissha Sadler "My mission is to help rebuild the Black community so we can return to our roots of loving and serving God." Sadie Star came across wanting to be a radio personality in the early 2000's. Her mentor and radio personality from v103 first introduced her to radio. From that point in her life, Sadie Star knew she wanted to become a Radio Personality. In 2017, she enrolled in an Illinois media school in downtown Chicago, Illinois. She signed up for Windy City Underground radio, where she became very popular on and off campus with talk radio. In 2018, Sadie Star graduated and continued to host Windy City Underground. She soon started her first shoe design, and from that excitement, she decided to start a shoe line in 2019 named after her mother, Sadie, who passed away in 1992. Later, she decided to leave Windy City Underground and start her own radio station, WSWT Internet Radio, where she interviewed celebrities and many more. In 2022, Sadie Star wanted more in the media world, so she decided to buy a Roku channel, Stand TV. Her vision for media was high, and her purpose was to have a family- oriented channel where families could come together to see positive things on television. In October of 2023, Sadie Star became the new host of Soul 106.3, The Sadie Star Show, and gave all thanks to her mentor, Seandale from Power 92, her brother Tyrone Walker Delle Del, and Jerome Pace. What inspired your journey into fashion and design? SS: It all started in an art class while in college. My professor gave a project on what you see yourself doing in 10 or 20 years. So, I went home, I thought about it. And I remember when I was a little girl, I always wanted a pair of fabulous shoes. Because growing up, I never had the cool shoes all my friends had on Track Nikes. My mother only bought those shoes for me when I was a certain age. So, I would always tell myself when I get older, I will buy my own shoes, however many I want. And that's what I did. Then, when I became a senior, I said, I am going to design shoes and then Sadie shoes. When I was old enough, I found a website to show me how I could design my own shoes. As time passed, I lost sight of that dream until I was in that class. So, for the project, I designed a shoe, and the actual first I created was that same show from college. And I was like, wow, look at God.

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 11

What was the best advice you received along the journey? Coming up as a kid, my mom passed away when I was like 11 or 12. I didn't have many people in my corner. But the ones that did encourage me when I wanted to give up on certain things. They would always tell me to never give up on my dreams. I'm going to fight. I've been fighting my whole life spiritually. And I had a couple of people that took me under their wings. And just tell me that one day you will be something in life. I didn't see myself as they saw me because I didn't know who I was then. And as I got older, I always kept that in my memory, that I would be something great one day. I may not feel right now, but I will be something great one day. So, I carried that in my spirit throughout my journey. When you think about the contributions of AfricanAmerican women to the fashion and beauty industry, what is the impact you want your brand to have? SS: I see so many great Black women doing wonderful things, and I love it. I love seeing our men do wonderful things, too. But as Black women, we go through so much in life. We carry a lot on our backs. I love that. Another Black woman encouraged me as well. With my shoe line, I want to make us aware. My shoes will fit different personalities, so when women wear them, they feel confident, fashionable, and comfortable. I want my legacy to keep going on and on and on for many generations. Outside of fashion, you have your own television station and radio show. Talk a little about your journey. Yes… When I graduated, I wanted to create a reality show in Chicago. Many shows are based out of LA, New York, and Atlanta, but Chicago is another big city that you don't hear of a reality having shown for some reason. Therefore, I did the research, and I purchased a Roku Channel on Roku TV. My station is all about rebuilding the community, education, and loving ourselves. You all check me out on Stan TV channel on Roku. I interviewed Chicago artists like Coldhard from Crucial Conflict, K Easy, and Kenny AJ, who has an incredible testimony. I am also a radio personality on Soul 106.3, which is the home of the Rickey Smiley Show here in Chicago, every Sunday from 8 to 9 p.m. God is good; my station is growing, and I genuinely appreciate it. You have your radio and TV stations, your shoe line, what's next? I have a show coming out, which will be called Sadie. It is going to be up on my website, which is www.wswtinternetradio.com. To listen to the full interview, follow Hardcore Grind Podcast on IHeart Radio.

DC Yung Fly says Goodbye to his longtime Partner Jacky Oh!

by Nayomi Charnelle

WILL AND JADA...AGAIN???

Whew, Chile!!! Get your tea ready because we are about to be Petty over here!!! America's favorite couple is back at it again. I mean stop the madness already! So it has been revealed that Will and Jada have been separated since 2016 and guess who revealed it? It was Jada on the Today Show. She stated she and Will live totally separate lives, however, they are still married on paper. WTF???.... What’s the point? Come to find out, Will does not believe in divorce. He was in love with Jada while he was still married to his first wife Sheree. He was not going to divorce Sheree so Sheree took charge of her life and divorced him on Valentine's Day of all days. Let’s talk about Tupac and the reason why Jada can never get over him. Tupac was a sexy Thug and Jada comes from that background. It’s almost like Will has spent all this time trying to provide Jada with a lifestyle that could never replace the love she had for Tupac. It’s also been revealed that when the SLAP that was heard around the world happened at the Oscars Will yelled those words “Keep my wife's name out your F*****! Mouth!” Jada admitted that she and Will have not referred to themselves as husband and wife for years and she was just as shocked as everyone else. Jada stated she realized there was something seriously wrong with Will at that point. We all know about the Entanglement Jada had with Augus Alsina but were we aware that Will had his own affairs going on? He stated they gave each other trust and freedom to do what they needed to do to be happy. In other words, they were in an open marriage and so the rumors were true even back then. He admitted to having affairs with Entertainment Tonight. His fantasy was to have a harem of girlfriends. Jada is now coming out with a tell-all book about her life and this I believe is going to be the nail in the coffin. I believe the divorce will happen eventually, but she will have to file because Will sees divorce as a failure, and as far as he is concerned, they will just stay married on paper and do their own thing which makes no sense. Whatever they decide to do, I hope they just take us all out the group chat because we are tired at this point. Tell us: Who is Bryant Marshall? Bryant Marshall: I am just a man who loves God, and people, spreading love and living life to the fullest. I come from a close family unit that helped shape my love of family and community. I developed a love for entertaining others at an early age as my family realized I could sing; I was often called upon to sing at various functions. I grew up discovering the many gifts that I had been blessed with, among those, singing, dancing, acting, modeling, writing songs, and producing music. I also discovered a knack for organizing events and creating entrepreneurial endeavors early in life which extended into adult life. I am a man of strong faith in God and I am driven and determined with a no quit attitude. Motto. "If there is no door. make one and kick it open" THS: When and how did Atlanta’s Hottest awards come to fruition? BM: Prior to the ATL's Hottest Awards I was producing events from fashion shows, weddings, expos, parties, concerts, and more. I was motivated after hearing multiple individuals and businesses claim to be The ATL's Hottest. I had a vision to create a platform that would shine the spotlight on those who were truly providing quality experiences and doing great work. I wanted to allow the fans and followers to vote on who they felt was the ATL's Hottest in various categories of entertainment. The 1st Annual ATL's Hottest Awards took place in 2009. THS: Did you have anyone that influenced you along the way through this creation process? BM: Yes, over the years there have been many people who have been a part of the shaping of the awards from the early days till now.

HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 21

THS: How was the response from the community the first year? Where was it held and how many attendees? BM: The first year was met with a mixed bag of reactions from mostly positive to a few not so positive. I chose to focus on those who would participate and focus on attention making the awards so good, so big that others would have no choice but to get Involved. Any difficulty came from the fact that no one had ever produced a club award and some just didn't know why I was the one who wanted to do it and there were of course financial struggles. How do we pay for this and how to get the right people involved? The finances came and so did the people. Overall there was enough positive reception to continue the vision. The first year, the awards team pounded the pavement going from venue to venue introducing ourselves and the concept of Atlanta's Hottest Club Awards which was the original name. The 2nd year brought great growth and three times the attendance of year number 1. This growth came as a result of hard work and the addition of the entertainment awards categories such as hottest band, vocalist, and many others. There was no such awards show such as ours named after and dedicated to the ATL Entertainment scene. The first year saw about 150 attendees THS: Are you an Atlanta native? If so tell us about growing up in the “A”. If not tell us about where you grew up and how you came to ATL. BM: Yes I am a Georgia native, literary born in a hospital in downtown Atlanta. However I was raised primarily in cities surrounding downtown, but I spent a lot of time in and around the ATL as my family was all over and I was performing everywhere as a singer with my group Raggtyme. THS: It's sometimes difficult to start communitybased projects and services. Did you get any assistance from anyone outside of family and friends? BM: Yes, I received assistance and well wishes from people who saw and understood the vision. The assistance came in the form of small sponsors, advice and connecting me with others who had shared interests. THS: What advice can you give other individuals who want to create and assist the public? BM: I would say know your what you want to do and know your "why" you want to do. Educate yourself on the topic and don't be afraid to hear the word no. Use it as fuel to keep going. Know the joy of victory is worth any difficulty you may face.

THS: Any other interests/hobbies outside of your business that you would like to share? BM:I love taking walks through the woods exploring nature, and spending time with my family and friends. I am the Minister of Music and Director for Piney Grove Baptist Church in Carrollton GA. I love cooking, grilling, and entertaining. THS: Do you plan to continue your journey with the awards show? Have there been new categories added this year? Where and when is the next show? BM: The ATL's Hottest Awards celebrates 15 years of Awards presentations and we look forward to many, many more years. New categories have been added such as ATL's Hottest Social Crew and a few other modifications. This year the ATL's Hottest Awards Winning Week is November 25th-December 3rd which is the Grand Finale of a week's worth of awards events. THS: Who inspires you the most? Is there anyone you could think of that you would like to work with? BM: Media mogul Byron Allen is my inspiration. There is no one particular person I'd like to work with but I am always looking for the opportunity to connect with positive, like-minded individuals. Please list your website and/or your social media platforms. BM: ATLHottest.com and PKCE.tv THS: Is there anything else you'd like us to know about you? BM: Just know that I am a man who loves people, having a good laugh, and God. I am a man who does not quit. I love making a difference in the world by putting a smile on someone's face and hope in their heart. Then, my mission has been accomplished. Georgia native and multitalented professional Bryant K. I am thankful to share his experiences with The Heat Seekers Magazine.

HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 25

The Heat Seekers Magazine: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Terry Ware Sr: Let’s see, I am the Father of 3 Wonderful Children, Aniah, Terry Jr., and Teara Ware. I am a Writer, Author, Poet, Actor, Motivational Speaker, Publisher, and Entrepreneur. Most of all though I love God with every part of my being, without Him I know I would not have been able to accomplish the things that I have or will accomplish! I love to see others win in life no matter what it is which led me to start my company, B.O.S.S. & Company. B.O.S.S. stands for Building Opportunities Stirring Success. I have 3 entities under that umbrella, B.O.S.S. Publishing, B.O.S.S. Clothing & Apparel, and B.O.S.S. Productions. I have been in business since 2016 and have been Blessed to help many become Self-Published Authors. I myself have published a total of 6 books, Love’s Recipe; Motivational High - Inspirational Growth; Daily Breath of Prayers, PoEtIc XpReSsIoNs, Volumes 1-3. I have been Blessed to appear in quite a few Major Productions as an Actor doing background work and also being able to be a part of a few films that I was Blessed to have a speaking role in. I love what I do because it gives me the opportunity to meet so many different people hear their stories and be able to see how God has really brought them through some tough times in life. I endeavor to see everyone I come in contact with WIN because I feel like no matter what, there is enough room for us each to be successful, we just have to keep God first and make sure we are listening to Him as He leads us. THS: Most of your books correlate to motivation and helping others get through tough times. How did you come up with these concepts? Tell us about your journey. TW: It was no one but God!:-) I grew up as a very shy person and never really liked talking much or being around a lot of people let alone talking to different people..lol But I realized that there was something within me that God had given me and that no matter what I felt, this is not about me but about doing what it is that He has me to do. As I mentioned above, I love to see people WIN, so whatever I can do to be a help in that process I am always willing to do, even if it’s just being a listening ear, giving a hug here or there, or just encouraging someone to never give up because there is greatness within them, I am all for it. So, I guess you can say that dealing with a lot of things in life and getting closer to God allowed me to not be ashamed of my mistakes or struggles in life but to use the wisdom that God has given me to help pour into others. THS: Who pushed you through the writing process? TW: To be honest I never imagined myself as a writer, but I would share a lot of my poetry with those that were close to me and they would encourage me to put together a book, my mom being one of those people. I dismissed it for a while until one day I was just like, ok, let’s see if I can actually put a book out. Was introduced to a publisher and it went from there.

THS: Are you an outliner (someone who outlines the story) or a pantser (someone who writes by the seat of their pants)? TW: I’m actually a little bit of both. When it comes to putting books together, I’m an outliner, but when it comes to writing poetry, I’m more of a pantser. THS: What are some of your hobbies? TW: Some of my hobbies include singing (I don’t do it as much as I used to though ), listening to music, and just really meditating from time to time. THS: How long have you been creating literature? TW: I have been writing for quite some time now, about 20 years or more now. I started out writing poetry and have evolved with wanting to get into eventually writing novels. God has actually given me a few book ideas, one of which will be on relationships and love which I am really excited to get started on. THS: Is there anyone you desire to work with or cowrite within the future? TW: I’m honestly not sure but I am open to working with anyone that promotes positivity, impacting the lives of others, motivating others to be great, and just all-around creating literature that touches the hearts of others. THS: Name 3 people that you would like to meet one day pertaining to the literary world. TW: Tony Robbins, Iyanla Vanzant, & Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu THS: How do you juggle all your different projects along with family, career, and motivational speaking? TW: It’s really tough but what I try to keep in mind is that family comes first, and you should always make time for family. I have been a bit slack in one of my book projects, but I am getting back to it here soon. I try and just really remind myself of the “WHY” factor, and also remind myself that whatever God is leading me to has nothing to do with me so if I stop completely or if I decide I don’t want to do something, then I am depriving others of something God is trying to get to them, do for them, or even partially keeping them from seeing the greatness within themselves. Also, it just doesn’t sit right with me when I know I should be doing something but I’m allowing life to get in the way. I have to find that extra push so that I can push through whatever is going on to do the things I am supposed to be doing.

😊

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 26

THS: What do you like the most about writing? TW: What I enjoy most about writing is being able to share life experiences or the knowledge God has imparted to me. I enjoy being able to tap into different areas of life that someone may be struggling with and be able to give them a different perspective, a different way to view something they may be dealing with. I enjoy being able to share my thoughts and having my words be a Blessing to others. THS: What’s next for you? TW: I am eager to get started on a few book ideas that God has given me, the main one being on love and relationships, whether it be friendships, marriages, spiritual relationships, etc… Stay tuned….. THS: Please list your website and/or your social media platforms. TW: Facebook: AuthorTerryL.WareSr. Instagram: Author Terry Ware Sr LinkedIn: Terry Ware Sr. Twitter: Author Terry Ware Sr THS: Is there anything else you'd like us to know about you? TW: Well, I took some time off from writing as well as Acting, but 2024 is about to be BIG! lol, I am looking forward to releasing about 3 books being in some Major films, and maybe even producing a few myself…. STAY TUNED!!!!

A few months back I met up with Chef Karisha Rice. She's a local chef in the Upstate of Greenville South Carolina who specializes in fine dining cusine meals. Her story is that she started out as a small child cooking in the kitchen with her grandma and it just fit with her.

We met at her local Spot on the Parkway in Greer SC where Chefs can rent out space to prepare their meals or do interviews & food reviews just as we did with Tasteful Tips and Trips of the "Focus Forward with Robin" Brand. We started off with an appetizer of crab stuffed shrimp with a Cajun cream sauce that was my favorite as I love shrimp. The Flavor wasn't too spicy and the cream sauce was seasoned just right.

his is a catering business you want to utilize for your next event. To contact Chef Karisha, you can reach her on social media and email: chefkarisharice@gmail.com. She is a ACF Certified Chef in the culinary arts & pastry degree. Chef Karish is a beautiful spirited woman who started out as a child in the kitchen with her grandma and now is making her wayvworking in excellence as a professional chef. IG: https://instagram.com/chefkarishari ce?igshid=MTIzZWMxMTBkOA== FB: https://www.facebook.com/ChefKari shaRice?mibextid=LQQJ4d

We also had the sweet and spicy salmon bites. Now this was top of the line salmon and I know this because salmon is one of my favorite fish to eat and I'm very particular with flavors of salmon. It was slightly crusted on the outside but savory and tender on the inside. It was spicy but enjoyable.

Chef Karisha out did herself as she prepared me two dishes to taste. The first main dish was Parmesan stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans. Since cheese is one of my favorites, I felt it added flavor to the stuffed chicken. The chicken has a slight more salt than I would have liked, but it still tasted very well with flavor. The green beans was lightly seasoned with butter and the mashed potatoes had a special ingredient that were no ordinary style of potatoes. It all blended well .

The other course meal to flavor was the Herb lamb chops with creamy mashed potatoes and broccolini. Now, as a food blogger I have tasted lambchops from the south and the North of Baltimore to the west coast of Hollywood. I'm very harsh on my reviews with lamb-chops. Up until I tried Chef Karisha's lambchops, I had not found any that out beats the perfect review of lambchops other than Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. However, her chops were uniquely prepared as I watched. She lightly seared them in butter in a deep dish frying pan with seasoning. Then she baked them in the oven This way they were made to perfection!

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 29

Of course all of the meal could not be eaten and portions were sent home with me. I enjoyed all of her meals so much so that she came to an event I hosted with my business partner Michael A Embry. And she catered another great meal. Chef Karisha Catering & Co. LLC had plenty of food to serve the guest. The meal included chicken marsala, green beans mashed potatoes roll tea and lemonade. There was so many positive reviews about the food!

Upcoming Release! Murder In Drury Lane By Vanessa Riley Pressed into a union of convenience, Lady Abigail Worthing knew better than to expect love. Her marriage to an absent lord does at least provide some comforts, including a box at the Drury Lane theater, owned by the playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan. Abigail has always found respite at the theater, awayfromthe ton’sjudgmentalstaresandtherisks of her own secret work to help the cause of abolition—and her fears that someone from her past wants her permanently silenced. But on one particular June evening everything collides, and the performance takes an unwelcome turn . . . Onstage, a woman emits a scream of genuine terror. A man has been found dead in the prop room, stabbed through the heart. Abigail’s neighbor, Stapleton Henderson, is also in attendance, and the two rush backstage. The magistrate, keen to avoid bringing more attention to the case and making Lady Worthing more of a target, asks Abigail not to investigate. But she cannot resist, especially when the usually curmudgeonly Henderson offers his assistance. Abigail soon discovers a tangled drama that rivals anything brought to the stage, involving gambling debts, a beautiful actress with a parade of suitors, and the very future of the Drury Lane theatre. For Abigail the case is complicated still further, for one suspect is a leading advocate for the cause dearest to her heart—the abolition of slavery within the British empire. Uncovering the truth always comes at a price. But this time, it may be far higher than she wishes to pay.

Glenn Gordon Business Spotlight of The Month

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 34

Heat Seekers Magazine: You have created a dynamic tool for back relief. Tell us how that idea got started.

THS: Can you give us tips on the steps to take when starting a business?

THS: Did you had anyone that influenced you along the way to create your product.

Glenn Gordon: I was a 5 ton to 25 ton Crane, 10,000 Pounds Rough Terrain Forklift, and Frontend Loader operator in the US Army. Operating heavy equipment on rough terrain bouncing around all day or sitting in the cab of a crane operating all day is extremely hard on your lower back. I was also an Army drill sergeant for awhile and marching 15 to 20 miles to rifle ranges carrying back packs weighing 50 pounds or more is also hard on your lower back. When I left the military in the 1980’s the government didn’t want to give me any disability for my back injury and still hasn’t to this day but they are still willing to give me any kind of dangerous pain killer drugs there is. I have be given 800mg EXTRA STRENGTH TYLENOL and pain killer shots but no disability for my lower back. I have been going to the VA hospital for over 30 years and seen so many veterans in the VA to me I felt didn’t needed all the dangerous pain killer drugs but I am NOT a doctor. Other Veterans even told me if I would only take the drugs, that would increase my chances of getting disability for my lower back which I refused and of course the government refused me disability for my back. Some of those very same Veterans I see today is now eating their dangerous pain killer medicine as food in hopes to manage their pain rather than eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, limited exercising, and using body compression to help control their body chronic pain. I refused pain killers years ago and started experimenting with body compression to control my chronic pain back in 1988 which is when I made my first back support belt. Being an inexperienced inventor in my late 20’s in the 1980’s, I had no idea what I was doing but I knew I didn’t wanted to e trapped relying on dangerous pain killer drugs for the rest of my life to help ease my pain so I started on my journey to create a lumbar compression support belt that can be wrapped around any major part of the body to help with chronic pain without the use of so much dangerous pain killer drugs. Finally after well over 30 years of researching compression material for the human body and with God’s guidance I was able to create one of the very best lumbar compression support belt/back support belt on the market today that’s truly in a class all by itself.

GG: Sure the first thing you must do is research the business you think you want to be in. So many of us feels that if that person can make money in that business so can I but that’s not always true. I am the kind of person that always wants to march to my own drum beat so I hope I don’t come on too strong but if being in business was easy, everyone would have a business. I don’t believe in doing anything as far as business without researching it first. If you’re going to start a business be honest with yourself and ask yourself are willing to give it your 100% effort and are you willing to invest in yourself on a major scale. Before you spend any money creating a business find out what does it cost to be in that business, business location such as online, brick and mortar or both, product, services, competitors, etc. It’s not cheap to start a business and it’s NOT always about money but about the mental and physical makeup of a person.

GG: Unfortunately no I did not but it was not discouraging none at you all. You see when God gives you a vision others may not see your vision including family and that is absolutely understandable. Some of us who are inventors will create new products simply out of personal need like myself but many will not agree with your approach and will be quick to point out to you that your idea has been created hundreds of times which in many cases may in fact be true but the fact of the matter is, it might have never been created before like the vision God is giving you. I find it was and still is extremely helpful for me to ignore the negativity and noise that comes from individuals well in my case who are not inventors telling me that I am wasting time on worthless ideas. I find comfort in staying focused on many inventors who have lived hundreds of years before me and like minded inventors today. I am a songwriter, singer, bass player as well and I get the same response from many non-singer, songwriters, musicians but they are experts at what the general public are interested in and will accept. My music is unique and different because i approach it in the same manner as I approach my inventions. Music is music but it’s okay to create your own sound that helps you get recognition for making a contribution to music that people loves and can appreciate. What drives me is not being afraid to dance to the sounds and beat of my own gifted talents, ideas and visions. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to introduced my product “WE GOTCHA BACK” to Professional Healthcare Providers and over 300 of them have endorsed the product. So when you ask me who influenced me along the way, I can humbly say in addition to the inventors I have researched, it was when I was and is individuals like Dr. Leola Williams from Culver California who is a retired USMC TRAUMA NURSE of 34 years, Dr. Christopher Scoma DC who is a leading Chiropractor not only in Atlanta Georgia but throughout the country, and 8 times Guinness Book World Record Holder Mr. Olympia himself Mr. Lee Haney. When these professional individuals accepted, endorsed, sell my product through their businesses and practices, as well as personally using the product themselves, I knew I had a product truly in a class of it’s own. When these 3 wonderful professionals told me that they are willing to be my Professional Healthcare Advisory Team for not only my “ WE GOTCHA BACK” product, but for any of my other body compression products I am in the process of developing now before going to production with it, they are willing to review and test the product rigorously before offering it to the public which is what my company need. They have come to understand me well enough to know that I am 100% committed to offering the public only the highest of quality FDA approved medical devices possible that I can create. So the answer is yes after all I am being influenced along the way the create the best medical devices possible by company Professional Healthcare Advisory Team.

I will use me and my business as an example to try and give you some kind of understanding you should have before deciding on a business. I realized I wanted to be an inventor but I had no idea on how to get started so before I spent any money, I researched inventors and their inventions to see what they had to go through and am I willing to do the same if necessary. I used this very same approach towards my music as well. Once I made a decision about that then I moved on to what kind of product I wanted to invent and what has already been invented similar to my invention idea. My next step was to research my competitors who are on the market now, who has the best product, what is the cost of their product, who are their customers, and how many products they are selling monthly and yearly. This type of formula is recommended for anyone who wants to go into business regardless of the business, the formula is still the same. If you still feel good about the business you think about starting then you will need to get business license, rather to incorporate, company, product, or service trademarks, in my case patents, copyrights, trademarks, etc. I think you get the idea but just in case you feel you need more help, contact a business consultant or you can take free classes on starting a business. I am writing a book which will be available in 6 to 8 months from now for individuals who wants to learn how to approach their inventions, manufactures, product raw materials, etc. I get so many people who wants to send me their inventions drawings after hearing me talk about inventions on podcasts and I am truly flattered. But you must realize I am an inventor meaning if you send me your drawings and if I feel I can make it better, the potential invention is no longer yours and I haven’t stole ANYTHING from you. But you might have given me a great idea about an invention. So please don’t send your invention drawings not to me not to anyone. If you still need help after March or May of 2024, please email me for information on how to get my book if you are an inventor.

TTHS: How long have you been in the industry and where can we find your product? GG: I have been in the industry since 20215 with the product “WE GOTCHA BACK”. I don’t sell my product through no platform other than our own company at the present time. Although I sell my product retail on my own platform which is great, I am also focus on working with major companies with hundreds of employees because they are carrying insurance coverage on their employees working construction, riggers, office workers, transportation workers/drivers, government workers, labor companies, sports, warehouse workers, truckers, hotel workers, etc., because my product the “WE GOTCHA BACK” is FDA approved and is covered by insurance. I also would like to work with women organizations and nonprofit organizations in addition to the ones I am already working with. They are many female physicians who have recognized my product as being a great product to assist females as young as 8 years old to manage female cramps and other chronic pains primarily because of the large pocket sewn into product to support hot and cold gel packs. To purchase my product please go to my website at Wegotchaback.com which is the only place the product can be purchase at the present time. THS: It’s sometimes difficult to start up a business. How did you succeed in starting your business. GG: I agree starting a business is definitely not easy. You have to have a serious conversation with yourself which is what I did. You must introduce yourself to yourself and understand your capabilities plain and simple. I will tell you some of the things I did before I made the decision to become a business owner. I first had a serious meeting with myself in the mirror by just simply looking at myself not staring but looking. You may think that’s crazy but you will be amaze at the questions and answers you will be able to share with yourself by just simply spending some alone time listening to yourself. I’ll tell you what I have learned from my mirror meetings with self at least 2 to 3 times a week. I was not answering my self out loud but I was learning and understanding who I am simply by allowing myself to take a good look at me and what am I capable of as well as what is my talents and qualities are because we all have some. What I learned from listening to me was that I knew I wanted to be an inventor which is one of my talents but I had no money and no knowledge of being the kind of business person I wanted to be. I also knew I didn’t want to work for someone else all my life so I decided to start small businesses that I had no intention of growing but it would allow me to survive with a decent life and pay my bills while I learn more about how to become the business person I hope to be. So I started a house painting/pressure washing business, later a landscaping business, later a janitorial service, later taxi cab owner, later limousine owner, later courier service, etc., but I never had no intention of growing any of these businesses. When I found a business I could grow with and the time was flexible to where I could focus on my music and invention business, I stuck with it for 22 years while educating myself about inventions, patents, copyright, music, trademarks, etc. When I made money I invested in myself and educated myself so well about my inventions and there market until I was able to secure investors who believed in my product with just drawings on paper.

So the moral of my story is to my opinion if you want to start a business, you should find businesses you have no plans to grow but you can earn good money to pay your bills while you learn more about the business you do want to grow. I don’t believe in working for any company that I don’t have any flexibility in my time if I decided I want to learn more about possible starting a business of my own. As long as someone else controls the majority of your time, you will find it difficult to find time to legitimately educate yourself about the business you really want for yourself. Remember if being in business was easy, everyone would be business owners. The main thing about starting a business is educating yourself about the business you want to be in first not the other way around. That is called putting the cart before the horse. No way a business like that can continue to move forward. TTHS: What advice can you give other individuals that want to create products for the public? GG : If you’re serious about producing products for the general public consumption you need to steady the public’s behavior and see what they are consuming now and why are they consuming what they are consuming. When you say producing products for the public that is a very broad question because there are countless products being consumed worldwide on a daily basis by as little as seconds depending on the product. You have to steady what it is you want to offer the public because if you don’t have a clue at what you want to offer, you are truly just wasting your time. Most inventors invent products out of personal need or know of someone what might benefit from something that they might create. I invented my my product from personal need but I educated myself about others who would benefit from my invention. Once I came to that conclusion I decided to research the product to see how many might be already in existence. Once I found that out I wanted to know how large is the market for a product like what I have invented. There are many things that goes into making a decision on creating a product. Consider these things when you talking about creating your own product: Public need, customer, what’s on the market, where is the market, competitors, patents, product trademarks, product raw materials, manufacturing, product samples, production cost, wholesale cost, retail cost, which the pricing will be determined by the quality of the finished product. Never go into producing products for the public if your goal is not to offer the highest quality of product. Always let money be secondary to giving the consumer the highest quality of products which will play a major role in the pricing of the product. I will explain and answer a lot of your questions if you are an inventor when my book becomes available. While NOT being a patent attorney, or copyright attorney, nor a paralegal, I have many years of knowledge and experience the in the patent, invention, product raw materials, and trademark world that might be helpful to someone. I own 4 US PATENTS and filing for 6 more in year 2024 and I believe I am capable of sharing some very valuable information that might help someone on their journey in pursuing patents, manufactures, product raw materials, or product trademarks a little easier than what my journey was. THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 36

THS: Any other interests/hobbies outside of your business that you would like to share?

THS: Do you plan to create anything else in the future? If not tell us your desires about your goals and desires for your product.

GG: Well I would like to share the fact that I am truly blessed because God has never given up on me and allowed me to have gained another talent which allowed me to continue to pursue my business. I didn’t wanted to start another business but in order for me to share the gifts that I was blessed with to others, you must have order when teaching so that required me to create a business so I can teach in an orderly fashion. If it wasn’t for me given an opportunity by my brother, friend, and investor Andy Hansel, “WE GOTCHA BACK” would’ve been non-existence. He gave me an opportunity to become an entertainment rigger for 22 years and invested in my product as well. He and I worked shoulder to shoulder like brothers for many years and we made a commitment to training military veterans on how to become a good entertainment rigger. We wanted to help veterans find a good paying job after military so i created an online entertainment ground rigging 101 training course that trains anyone worldwide online. But I am also in the process of creating a hands on entertainment rigging course in Griffin Georgia. Andy and I worked together for many years in the entertainment industry behind the scenes setting shows for BEYONCE, JAY Z, TAYLOR SWIFT, STING, FRANKIE BEVERLY, PRINCE, MICHAEL JACKSON, MARIAH CAREY, KISS, EARTH, WIND, FIRE, JANET JACKSON, TINA TURNER, ELTON JOHN, CHER, BABYFACE, and so many others. My website is groundrigging101.com and it is dedicated to training military veterans but anyone can take the online course. The hands on course is designed strictly for military and ex-military personnel male and female. This hands on course should be available February 2024. I also love performing with my band “GG AND FRIENDS BAND” which can be google and based in Atlanta Georgia. I am a recording artist and have a CD on the market titled EXPOSURES. You can find my music on all the major music platforms but many of you have been giving me great support by purchasing from my platform at ggsmusic.com and I want to thank you so much for that. When you purchase directly from my platform I get the lion share of the purchase payment. Again I humbly thank you for your support.

GG: I have asked God through many prayers to please allow me to be the very best human being I can be but I need help financially to do the things I want to do to help others. So no my “WE GOTCHA BACK” product is just the beginning of a long trail of products I hope to create in the coming years. I don’t need anyone’s financial support but I do need everyone’s purchasing power and support especially those of you who have the ability to purchase my product in bulk for their employees or to resell. All 3 products are FDA approved and is covered by insurance but The “WE GOTCHA BACK” product is the only one available at the present time. An FDA approved certificate can be made available upon request to anyone through email at anytime. I hope to have 3 of my products: “WE GOTCHA BACK”, “I GOTCHA POCKETS”, and “GG’S COMPRESSION WRAPS” on the on the market within the next 6 to 8 months. Doing the year of 2024 I will file patents on 6 more inventions I have created. My goal is to work with the BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB in my little hometown in Hemingway South Carolina. I want to help train the 13 to 17 year olds in working in the entertainment industry behind the scenes, landscaping, farming, business, creating music and entertainment, etc. Once I have helped my little hometown then I want to focus on other near by small towns that have BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB and give them support but again it will take capital for me to accomplish this mission. So all I ask is for everyone to please purchase my FDA approved LIFESAVING MEDICAL DEVICES.

THS: Is there anything else you would like for us talk know about you? GG: I would like for everyone to know that I am a firm believer in God and is constantly working on myself every single day asking and praying to God to please continue to make me a better man tomorrow than I am today and always keep me humble and grateful. I am extremely grateful that my publicist saw in me someone that is worthy of her time and expertise. Of all the clients she could have, she chose me to be one of them and for that, I am grateful.

THS: Who/what was the inspiration for this product. GG: Thank you so much for this question THS. The inspiration for this product was ME. I am a Vietnam Era Disabled Veteran that don’t like drugs of any sort and especially dangerous pain killer drugs. I am also not crazy about being stuck with needles taking pain killer shots and the government had made it clear to me that if I don’t take the drugs, no disability benefits for my lower back. So I started experimenting with body compression and with the grace of God and 30 plus years later I have created a product that’s in a class it’s own. I never worn a lumbar support belt that supports me perfectly and moves with my body without any body restrictions like this product. If I didn’t have chronic lower back pain, I would’ve never thought to create such a product. It’s important to me that anyone reading this clearly understands that The “WE GOTCHA BACK” product is NOT a miracle worker and will not take your body pain away 100% but I can promise it will help you reduce pain and make it easier for you to manage your pain on the daily at a very low pain level. 90% of the time my pain level is low because of the use of this product when needed and that’s only about 1 to 2 hours when needed. Most of the time I might need to wear the product 2 to 3 times a week and when I do it’s for about 1 to 2 hours. THS: Please list your website and/or your social media platforms. LYRIQ LUCHIANO The Heatseekers Magazine Exclusive Interview

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 39

Lyriq Luchiano is best known for the song FaceCard. His song soared to top with over 1 million on Apple Music. This song is now being recognized as the female confidence booster and is sweeping the nation. In October Lyriq’s smash hit made it to # 1 on facebook and tick tock Teresa B.: How do you feel about the impact your music has on people and what kind of messages or emotions do you hope to convey through your music? Lyriq Luchiano: I'm grateful. I'm also shocked that my message has actually spread across the world. I feel like as far as my messages goes… people need it. There is much that's unanswered and so many emotions that we have as humans that are unanswered. And even though we can't answer all emotions, I can tap into a couple or a few. You don't have to give up. There are other people going through what you are going through. That’s big and very important to me as an artist and to other listeners. I want people to pick up what I'm saying and to try and pull through: I care about that the most. TB.: Can you share any specific stories or feedback you've received from fans about how your music has positively influenced their lives? LL: I've never told anybody this one, but in this particular case a lot of fans told me that I saved their life. Someone was about to commit suicide or they were about to give up. They were on the edge of life and ready to go. For someone to tell me that I saved a life, one person being saved is enough for me. But to have multiple people tell me that my music helped save lives or I helped them with a decision that they struggled with, that means the world to me, also. TB: think a lot of women are connecting with that song and the vibe because they want and need that confidence Builder. Your song helps them to build their confidence. LL: that's what I was aiming for here. I know the dating market sucks. I don't know what's going on, but to your point face card is definitely a confidence booster. I wanted women to understand that you are beautiful no matter what you look like inside or out.

Building up is the goal because all this destruction that I'm seeing is not going anywhere. We're staying in one spot. Somebody has to build up people and also with the platforms that I do have and the amount of followers, I choose to use my platform differently. I want to do what I feel like other people aren't doing. I’m on the minority list. so I want to build up women instead of people tearing them down. TB.: Where do you see yourself going in your music career? And what are your aspirations for the future? LL: I consider myself a staple in Hip Hop, somebody that is not like other rappers. Somebody who stands out and somebody who cares about the art form. Also, a person who cares about women, about black people, and about people going through depression. I mean being somebody who actually has power but also cares... you don't usually see the two together. TB.: How do you stay grounded and focused on making a positive impact on people's lives amidst the pressures and challenges of the music industry? LL: It’s hard sometimes being from the streets. So it's hard making a transition to being positive. But what I do is stay focused on the goal. I focus on the end goal at the end of the day. Will people be happy with what I did with my life when I'm no longer here or when the curtains are closed? Would they be happy with it? Will it help somebody that I know? Will it help to point children in the right direction? Teresa B.: How did you first get into music and what inspired you to pursue a career as a rap artist? LL: I used to write poetry but a friend of mine from high school produced music which led me to record a song over his house. I fell in love with creating my own sound and yeah, I fell in love with hearing my voice played back to me. I started adding a little method to the madness and thought about what music that hasn’t been created just yet.

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 40

TB.: How did you first get into music? What I said that one number seven. Can you tell us about your journey from starting out in the music industry to gaining viral success? LL: You got time for that? lol I mean okay this is actually probably the greatest question I've ever been asked In all of my interviews. As a rapper coming from where I'm from, Virginia. There are no opportunities here. You have to literally create every opportunity knowing that everybody who came before you gave up. So there's nobody who came before you around your area. Except for Chris Brown, but everybody who's raped gave up. It's like I hear, I can't do it, we can't make it, It's too hard. But you have to literally be the only person out here doing it. It's like you are the only person walking the streets at night talking about passing out CDs. I'm talking about hand-inhand contact with people and posting flyers up on every corner. I'm talking about open mics in different locations but yet getting cheated out of my money, There's so much that has happened. But if it all didn't happen, I wouldn't know all that I know now. I needed to go through all of that in order to understand the business. So once I went viral, I was like this is my time. Believe in yourself. even when everybody fails, when everyone gives up on a dream... you don't stop. Everybody’s telling you, you can't do this, it's never gonna work. It's impossible. You gotta be the one that will feed that fire inside of yourself. It is like what? Okay, I'm gonna do it. And I'm determined to win at the end of the day. TB.: Can you share any memorable moments or experiences that have shaped your perspective as an artist? LL: So being shot, losing my mother, being homeless, being depressed, trying to commit suicide but the gun jammed all shaped my perspective as an artist. Also, the fact that I lost friends, lost many family members, being at multiple funerals had an impact of how I saw everything .Yeah, I spent some time in jail, had no visits, I’ve been cheated on and experienced plenty of bad.

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 41

TB.: Hey, don't even feel bad about it. We're twinning the same exact stuff. I never got shot though. Ain't never got shot. But the rest of that stuff is definitely happened to me. How do you balance your personal life with your growth music career, especially after going viral? LL: That is the hardest thing right now. Let me tell you, this is the hardest thing got me because when you are in a relationship and you are dealing with different people plus going viral, your relationship requires your attention as well as everything else. I can see why rappers , musicians and singers stay busy. We have so much stuff going on. TB.: Can you discuss the creative process behind your music and how you navigate the changing trends in the industry? LL: I try to stay timeless that way you can't box me into a certain kinds of music. I don’t want to be boxed in and I want to stay current. When I'm recording music, I don't write it for a certain era. I don't write it for a certain time. It has to be something that they can play back years from now or if we could go back in time it’s considered timeless. I mean, I use past experiences to get my point across TB: Okay, That's a good way to think on how to do it too because some people are just about here and now, so that's good. What are your future aspirations in the rap game?

LL: This may sound crazy, but I have plans on building a Boys and Girls Club or a shelter for kids. Weather they were born strung out on drugs or they're born in poverty. I want to build something for children and mothers. But, I will cross that bridge when I get to it. My plan is to help out, single mothers and children. Also I want to help convicted felons. I want to put them back into the neighborhoods and let them work security for the neighborhoods they are from. Instead of just going back on the street selling drugs again, I'd rather give them a job and make sure the neighborhoods are safe. We are losing souls and losing our creativity out here. We should be able to love and help one another.. We are in a bad state right now and the bad is starting to become normal. We’ve got to revert back to the positive. We've got to find our souls again.

LL. Learn the game before you make any sudden moves The reason why I say that is when you're younger you waste a lot of time because you don't know what you're doing. So learn the business and use your talent. Your talent can go across generations. I’ve had three labels reach out to me based off of my talent.

TB.: Thank you for allowing me to interview you today. All continued success to you.

Teresa B.: How do you plan to build up your viral success? LL: By gaining supporters and getting new fans. But still making music that touches the heart. I'm getting a strong team together. I mean right now so far I don't need a team. Do I want to team? Yes, because I can't handle all these moving machines at once. I can drive the ship. But I need somebody to fix the maintenance of what’s going on outside on the streets. Yes, I plan on putting out better music than I had before. Soul touching music if its possible because my music is a Soundtrack of my Life. TB.: What advice do you have for aspiring rap artists?

Hip-Hop Corner The World is not Ready for Scottie Clinton

Issu e #10

Jay “M@DH@TTER” Cadena

Scottie Clinton Interview of a Superhero!

Today, I am super proud to have my first- ever interview be the incredibly beautiful spirit, Scottie Clinton. We vibed on many levels from music to mindfulness and talked about her many talents and passions. She is a mother, a daughter, a strong powerful woman, an artist, and a super-fit, superhero! She is the daughter of Legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient George Clinton of Parliament- Funkadelic fame and her biological dad Daryle Scott who is credited for. I have the amazing pleasure of saying I am on a hip-hop project which Scottie Clinton is also featured. My partner in rhyme, producer and other half of our MadSlapp ENT brand, Slapp Turner, created an amazing album called “We My Ethos” featuring many incredibly talented artists from all across the US and Scottie Clinton who is by far the shining star of that incredible project. Born and Raised in Houston, TX Not only is Scottie Clinton a dope ass rapper, but she is an amazing singer as well which is why the World is not ready for Scottie Clinton!

@jodycorbone Jody Corbone Photo 2017

Everyone Has a Story, Scottie what is your story and what is your purpose of existence:

Scottie Clinton: My Purpose for existence get caught up in their flaws just helping within my career and everything that I do is them gain confidence. Just expressing to help the younger generation have an outlet themselves in the way that they would like to be themselves. So, non-profit too. That’s the example that I am leading as organizations in the poverty areas, give them an artist and as a person to help people feel access to things like, instruments, sewing more comfortable in their skin.

MOVIE POSTER FOR SPINNING GOLD 2023

Madhatter: machines, canvasses and all types of art Yo, I really resonate with that because I’m supplies. Also, other facilities such as wood working on a Project right now Called City shop classes, things like that. Teachers as Built and we are developing a non-profit well in order for these kids to learn these portion to help give back to the different trades as well as give them an outlet communities in San Francisco, Ca where to further identify with their individuality. we all grew up. City Built Music is about just give them space to grow in their giving back to the communities that we all creativeness. A lot of children in these grew up in. We took a lot from the poverty areas don’t have access to these types neighborhood, now it is time to give back. Scottie Clinton: One other thing I forgot to youth are really struggling because of the mention that is one of my main purposes is phones and social media. They are going LOVE. Understanding that a lot of people through lots of depression and anxiety That’s do not love themselves and I genuinely did my purpose, to help people not only not love myself and I had to break myself children but adults as well. I want to help down to build myself back up. I’m being them further identify as an individual and not transparent in my journey to obtain self-love and showing others that it is a journey and this is what you to realize it.

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 44

I’m Just kind of being open about that Scottie Clinton: Michael Jackson inspired because that’s the first step to loving others is me I use to watch the “Thriller video” and to first love yourself. Madhatter: Wow, I the one where Michael Jackson is in the one-think that’s dope! Not a lot of people delve piece glitter outfit (Rock with you) over and into that part of themselves. I believe that is over again. I think I had a VHS at my something that is completely missing from grandma’s house, and I had, of course, the music in general, but mostly Hip-hop. Hip-Thriller jacket. Hard Rock fashion kind of hop took a left turn somewhere and that had me on the edgy stage of my life back whole aspect of love and speaking about then growing up as a kid. I was also inspired love, no one talks about it anymore, you’re by SADE and of course my dad George soft if you talk about love. Scottie Clinton: Clinton and Prince. I also used to listen toexactly, it’s like talking about Love is the Maxwell and Kenny G. I had a lot of wack thing to do nowadays, but I’m going to different elements; my biological dad as well change that, that’s what I’ve been doing with influenced me. His name is Daryle Scott, future concepts I’m doing with future songs and he was a huge DJ in Houston and he that I have coming out. created “Chopped & Screwed” music and passed it on to DJ Screw. My first job was

WHO INSPIRED YOU GROWING UP working at a record store on MLK in Houston, TX. I had a job as a 12-yearold dubbing and selling cassette tapes at the record store. All of these things in my life and also my mother, she was a manager of a rapper from Texas named Big Mello who was really big in Houston. My mother was recruited by Rap-a-lot Records. Seeing my mom as an entrepreneur and all of these artists Madhatter: I totally feel that I am on that same vibe. Next question, who inspired you growing up, and what inspired your persona? Your funny, crazy, wild, witty, bright and colorful, literally and figuratively, my favorite line in “Drippin Sauce” is “ass spinning like a wheel, would you like to buy a vowel” LOL Scottie Clinton: Hahaha, its because I always use to watch Wheel of fortune.

Carl Nargle the painter guy was also the start of my art side. I am an artist in every aspect.

Madhatter: As an artist, how do you balance the “Work/Life” Balance as a single mother, how you tackle the obstacles? Scottie Clinton: The obstacles that I have experienced as a single mom is playing both parts when I go on the road, I sometimes have to leave my children at home. When I went to Tokyo, Japan I was there for two weeks, and had to leave my kid at home for two weeks.

Picture caption: Picture Caption: To make your document look professionally produced, Word provides header, footer, cover page, and text box designs that complement each other.

Scottie Clinton Continued: I was ordering groceries to my home and having them delivered and sometimes the financial situation was tough, and I wasn’t able to provide as much. People don’t see these struggles, but they get my 1000% energy on stage and that is a part of my testimony, it doesn’t matter what obstacles you have you just have to continue to give love and at the end of the day you’re going to come out on top.

Madhatter: One of the messages that you want to get out to the people is one that I support 100% No Cap! I truly believe drinking water is extremely important. Please tell our amazing readers why you want to get that message out. Scottie Clinton: The reason why water is so important is because our brains are the largest muscle on our bodies and when we are dehydrated means, our brains are dehydrated, and so many people are not aware of the power that water has in addition to smiling at people. It many just be a simple wave, but just part of my superhero powers, helping an older person, that’s part of the superhero powers. We all have superhero power, but we all have to understand how to use them.

Madhatter: I just wanted to take this time to thank you for giving me your time for this interview, I had a blast for real. I also want to thank you as I’m an artist who shares an album with you. I’m truly blessed to say that I am on this project with you. Thank you, with that said, tell me about “Drippin Sauce” and working with my brother from another mother, Slapp Turner. Scottie Clinton: Well, I was inspired to do “Drippin Sauce” by a video that I saw on a reel on Instagram, the person in the video was in court and said to the judge, “I pops flavor, and drip sauce” and I took that and created a dope song out of it

@scottieclinton333 Instagram Photo shoot 2018

Slapps beat went right with it, whatever I visualize doing as an artist is how I put together my words.

Madhatter: Thank you for that, I truly appreciate your time and I’m grateful to have met you and hope that we can continue to work together whether on music or in print. End of interview: Some of you may not know that I am also a rapper and I have released many albums over my 30 plus years. But mostly recently I have been building a catalog of dope music with an extremely talented producer out of the Bay Area, California. My partner in rhyme and music is Slapp Turner, he released an album last year that features many different talented individuals most famously, Scottie Clinton. They recently recorded a dope video for her smash single “Drippin Sauce”. The video is available on Youtube please click the link. https://youtu.be/EeNEWVR1q8Q? si=eA7_8QHN Xoox2B4P or search Slapp Turner and Click the Video and Enjoy. Peace

We are excited to have you featured as one of our top creatures. Tell us: How did you get your start in the music industry? Jay Madhatter: When I was 13 years old my love for hip-hop was beginning to change my life. Somehow, I wanted to be a part of this amazing art form. At a local record store in Pittsburgh, CA, damn I’m dating myself lol I found a 12 in copy of a local rapper’s record and began writing a rap to his instrumental on the B side of the record. While writing this rap and rapping it in my window at the apartments where I lived, a guy who was about 6’7 came up to my window on the first floor stuck his head in my window and said, “what you doin’” I said, “ Rapping” he said, “ I know that, what are you rapping” and I said, “ I wrote it” he said, “you wrote that” and I said, “yup” he said, “do you know who I am” I said, “no” and he said, “I’m Chill E.B, that’s my record your playing”. My eyes got big as I was embarrassed and shocked, but I was mostly excited to see a guy I had admired as a rapper in front of me. He said, tell your dad to bring you to my apartment tomorrow, I have something I want you to help me do. He ended up being the founder of a program rapping against drugs with a focus on drugs in schools. So I started performing with him at all the high schools around the Bay Area, Ca. Through Chill E.B I met my partners who would forever be why I still record music today. THS: Who inspired you to take this journey in music production?

JM: Hip-hop Music and culture inspired me to take this journey into music. I have always loved music from early in my life, my mom had a wide range of music taste from disco to classical music, my father loved R&B and the music of the 70’s, but it was my older brother that got me into hip-hop and funk and soul music. I remember breakdancing when I was little and listening to the Fat Boys and Kurtis Blow but it wasn’t until I bought Public Enemy’s “Yo Bum Rush the Show” and the Beastie Boys “License To Ill” that I really fell in love and wanted to be a part of this music. So I would say it was these two albums that inspired me to take this journey into music. If we are talking about a particular person in my life, I would say that it was my first rap group the Def Line Express. Kevin Smith (DJ K-Luv), Lynne Brown (MC Diss), Jeremy Massey (Prince Jay) Domino from the Hieroglyphics, and Jason Melton (Assassin MD) inspired, influenced, motivated and made me feel that a career in hip-hop was a real possibility especially with such a talented group of young hungry hip-hop heads. My newest project, CITY BUILT MUSIC is a new collaboration of a majority of my Def Line Homies along with a bunch of new artist we work with. We are still at it

THS: How does your creativity flow in the studio? JM: I get inspired to write songs based on what the track is telling me, what the universe wants from me. I believe that songs are supposed to exist where they are No #1 billboard hits, independent underground or only 1,000 listeners. Art by definition is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. I feel that music as an art is supposed to impact the listener, make you feel something whether its positive or negative, it makes you feel some type a way. I have always felt my creativity comes from the place I am in the moment, but really it’s the music that tells me what style to use, what words to use, what tone to use, what the song is going to say to the person listening. THS: What keeps you going? JM: My Love For Hip-hop Music and Culture, My kids and family, The homies I work with, we are all older, and its inspiring that they are still willing to create dope music with me. The therapy that is writing and recording your thoughts and words, taking your feelings from your mind to paper to recording and then hearing the result. The idea that you are never to old to create art, and the possibility of peer recognition. I don’t have to be famous, I just want to be recognized among the hip-hop community.

THS: Do you ever get discouraged, and why? JM: I get discouraged all the time, I second guess my talent for rapping and rhyming almost daily LOL Sometimes I tell myself, “what the hell are you thinking”, “Your old, and the game has changed”, “Your wasting your time” “you’re not good enough, that why your still nobody” then I play my music for people and the look on their faces makes me believe that I am just as good, if not better then the others out there. I listen to the music and I think, who cares if its not streaming millions at the moment, our CITY BUILT MUSIC is deep, introspective, controversial, personal and relatable. WE ARE GREAT!! Discouragement is part of the process, it helps me humble my words and keeps me grounded in reality. I want to be on a human level with my music, not above you, but right here with you. THS: The music industry has changed tremendously since the creation of digital music and uploads. Do you think this is a lasting trend? How do you feel about the changes? JM: I have mixed feelings about the changes in the way music is recorded and shared. Technology was always a part of music recording so it was only natural that it would grow at rapid pace. I think there is a warmth lost in digital recordings, the emotions in live music recording is gone, the way music spread through the street organically is gone as well, now you can upload something and have the right machine behind it and it goes viral and that is the stamp of a hit song, that’s BS. On the other hand, I love that I can be in another state and still work closely with my folks and create music and share instantaneously. I remember having to drive to the studio and spend the whole day or two or three producing, recording, mixing and mastering songs. Then having to wait to see your friends to share it with them. LOL I’m totally dating myself now. But, I love it and I hate it, but I respect it. More people can create and share there art with the world and we need more of that.

THS: If you had a chance to work with anyone in the rap game, who would it be? JM: Producers: Kanye West Dr. Dre DJ QUIK Pete Rock Dj Premier Rappers: Eminem Busta Rhymes Xhibit Scarface Kendrick Lamar But, if I had to pick one I’d say it’s a toss up between Eminem and Kayne West. THS: Give us some information on a few of the artist you help produce and write for? JM: Well, since I’m a rapper and I don’t make the beats, I primarily just write for myself or my group mates. But, that is rare since real rappers don’t need ghost writers LOL

THS: How can your fans reach you? JM: I have a website that www.citybuiltmusic.com Email: mad@citybuiltmusic.com

I am working on two solo projects for next year, “Get M@D” produced exclusively by Slapp Turner, and a personal EP called “The Ex- Factor” produced by DJ Jrama, which is a personal introspective album about how failed relationships create a path to understanding how to be a better partner for your next love. Slapp Turner and I are partnering with a dope MC and personal friend of ours named Sandpaypa to do a project called, “Trauma Music” under the group name “ Mad, Paypa, Slapp”. The album that will be coming out very soon, is my CITY BUILT MUSIC Project, with my old homies from my first group. CITY BUILT MUSIC will be a collective, collaborative music project with 5 producers and Multiple Rap and R&B artist. The plan is to grow CITY BUILT MUSIC to the level of a Dj Khalid type format with different artist collaborating on future projects, the core will always be the founding members (Domino, DJ KV, LYNNE BROWN, and MAD) CITY BUILT MUSIC is also creating a Non-Profit portion of the label to give back proceeds of sales to the urban neighborhoods in San Francsico, CA that we all grew up in. All these projects are slated for release in 2024

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST

ZEMILL

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 49

The Heat Seekers Magazine: How did your career get started in music? E. Zemill: Hello and thank you for having me. I’ve been writing for years yet didn’t do anything with all the Poems and Songs. A friend gave me a Gift Card for a Music Workshop run by the incredibly talented Producer and artist Joel McCray. I had words and melodies; he wrote, arranged, sang, and performed. We teamed up and magic happened with our music. He hears what I hear. We’re now five live shows and four CDs strong! THS: What made you decide to be serious about your music career? EZ: Good Question. My company talked about “Transformation” ergo “cutbacks in staff,” and although I was well established and did make the cut, I no longer wanted to give them that kind of financial control over my life. It was time to nourish the Gifts I’ve been given and take greater control of My Destiny. THS: Who are your major musical influences in the music industry? EZ: I’m a big fan of Barry White, Will Downing, Stevie Wonder, Langston Hughes, and Jeffrey Osborne. THS:Do you come from a family of musicians or singers? EZ: Yes, my father was in a group called The Festivals in the 60’s. They were like the O’Jays. He, my uncle, and other family members could really sing! They toured with Major Acts Around the country. THS: Do you still write poetry? Tell us about your poetic experiences. EZ: Why yes, of course, it’s in me and I’ll never stop! It is the bedrock of what I do. I’ve written two Books, Thoughts In Vision and Love Unleashed – The Fire And Passion Of Poetry, and I have an upcoming release of my Spoken Word CD, The Audacity Of Truth. This release will join my four other Musical CDs that I have already released and am blessed to say have been received well. I only write when the words flow from a place beyond my current consciousness. I write about love, life, social conflict, and oppression. I write about what I see and feel in life’s moments, triumphs, and struggles. Some very personal, others poignant and philosophical and often piercing. I write about intimacy.

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE 50

THS: What do you like best about writing poetry and music? EZ: What do I like best… I love having the ability to invoke a myriad of emotions that come from an infusion of words and music. It’s the positive responses of the audiences, the readers, and listeners that I find so gratifying. To have someone say, they needed to hear that or man that song got them in the mood really speaks to why I really enjoy what I do. A young lady said to me “your words made me fall in love with love again”. That says it best about what I like so much about poetry and music. THS: What advice can you give other individuals who want to go into the entertainment profession? EZ: Plan, Practice, Be Realistic about your goals, Stay Disciplined, Persistent and Consistent. Work on your craft daily. Work to find those who believe in you and will follow you for what you bring to their lives. Believe in what you do when no one else will. Stay Focused! … and Learn Marketing! I spent more time on creating content than I did creating the audience to share it with. That is my main focus at this point and a concept you really have to grasp. THS: Any other interests outside of music? EZ: Yes indeed. I love sports, live music, vacationing on the ocean and old school R&B. I enjoy my family. I find science fascinating and enjoy looking at new inventions. THS: Any new projects or collaborations coming up soon? EZ: Absolutely! I’m finishing the edit of my Zemill’s PoJazz Experience Concert for streaming. I’m releasing a new single, writing a Play for Black History Month in collaboration with The Irving Black Arts Council and developing a documentary and creating two New CDs. I also have the launch of my online store on Shopify to sell My Music, Apparel and other Merchandise launching soon! The goal is to have them all done in the next few months. It’s both ambitious and exciting! THS: Tell us about your books and what inspired you to write them? EZ: Thoughts In Vision and Love Unleashed were inspired by my desire to offer a mind engaging escape for the reader. I use poetry as a vehicle to express liberating thoughts, to show how Poetry is a world in and of itself that can inspire, entertain and lift you up! I wanted to take my passion for writing about love, life, inspiration, about what’s happening in our streets, the struggles so many experience and say in print what some have difficulty expressing in words. THS: What was your most favorite/memorable place to sing or perform? EZ Wow! Good question! I have lots of memorable moments! One of my favorite moments was my 8/22/22 Zemill’s PoJazz Experience Show at The Black Academy Of Arts And Letters here in Dallas. It was Sold Out 4 weeks before the performance! The Crowd was electric! I preformed seven new songs & poems, and the audience loved them all! My brother Byron came to me and said, “Big Bro, You did that thang”! It was a truly Magical Evening!

Please list your website and/or your social media platforms. EZ: Yes Thank you! You can find me at: Zemill.com online Zemill@AttentionRequired.com is my email addressZemill’s PoJazz Experience On Facebook & YouTube And Zemillspojazz on Instagram & Tik Tok. THS: Is there anything else you'd like us to know about you? EZ: I waited until I was passed the age of “Silver” to pursue my true calling. I’m blessed to be headed to another level. I’d like to thank you and Desirae L. Benson PR for this opportunity. She’s amazing at what she does. Follow me for more elevated grooves… Peace and PoJazz Always, -Zemill
