There have been many mornings when I have ended up balancing the bathroom mirror on the windowsill of the kitchen to get the best light when applying my makeup, the EKO iMira does away with careful angling by providing you with full visibility, even in the darkest of rooms.

The mirror measures at H40 x W24 x D13cm with the mirror size being 20cm, it features a built-in rechargeable battery with an included USB cable. One charge lasts up to four hours of continuous use which works out at about three to four weeks of average daily use. This freestanding bathroom mirror has three light settings, Natural that simulates sunlight for daytime looks, Bright that delivers a cool bright light for finer definition of details and the Warm setting helps you get the right look for indoor warm lighting, like evening occasions. The iMira comes with a 5x magnification portable travel mirror which is handy for work or trips away, it has a built-in magnet that lets it attach to the main mirror and comes with its own travel bag to prevent it from becoming damaged on route.

The main mirror can be tilted 180 degrees, so you can find the best angle for a comfortable view while at the same time the slimmer profile makes it easy to store away if needed. The glass used is fingerprint resistant meaning it requires less cleaning, always a bonus in our household, the main mirror provides 1x magnification for a clearer reflection. The lighting is 1100 lux and has a colour rending index (CRI) of 93 for more natural skin tones, there is an optional sensor function that can be activated to detect when you are in front of the mirror (25-30cm away) and automatically lights up, giving your half-asleep brain one less thing to do in the morning. The light will then automatically switch off again after 12 seconds of you moving away from it. The smart mirror makes getting ready a breeze, with clear and natural reflections, a handy motion sensor and fingerprint resistant finish to keep both the mirror and you looking your best.

iParcelBox I have been looking for a top-class delivery box for a while and was very excited when I came across iParcelBox. I have deliveries fairly regualar and especially this time of year when I start the christmas shopping and sometimes I am stuck hanging around the house because I know a delivery is coming. If I go away for a few days I normally come home to find a number of cards posted through the door saying parcels have been left with multiple neighbours or or I need to make contact to reschedule the delivery.

The iParcelBox alleviates that problem and not only does it make sense from a practical point of view, it also allowed me to feel more relaxed when I am away as sometimes packages are left on the doorstep and that worries me.

Pricewise I don’t think the £199 is a bad and with that initial cost comes a free 3-month subscription to the premium features, after those first three months to carry on is £2 per month. Before the item arrived, I was discussing the product with the Editor and some of the questions she raised and wanted answered were…

What’s to stop someone just walking off with the box and the deliveries?

How is it powered, what if there is a power cut?

How big is it?

How does it alert you of deliveries?

So, firstly on the topic of an opportunist taking the iPacelbox with all the packages inside, this is alleviated

by being able to actually fix the box to the floor or a wall with the pre drilled holes and it is also supplied with multi fixings. If the thief comes equipped with power tools however, they will be able to gain access, as they would to your house, I would check if it was broken into that it is covered by your home insurance.

The box is powered via a 5v DC power supply, and is provided with a 5v DC mains adapter, we fortunately already have an outlet on the outside wall where we wanted to install it. We get a lot of power cuts being out in the sticks and I was relieved to find out that if the power is cut then the iParcelBox automatically locks. The dimensions are Height: 42cm, Width: 60cm, Depth: 40cm. It can accept parcels up to a total size of 55cm wide, 35cm deep and 39cm high.

If your iParcelBox is empty, it will automatically unlock to allow a delivery. For subsequent deliveries you need to have access to your smartphone to remotely unlock to allow a delivery. If you have an iParcelBox Premium subscription you also have several options to allow unattended deliveries.

This is a well thought out product that does everything you need and will allow you to pop out without having to worry that the couriers are annoying the neighbours.

Shark DuoClean Upright Vacuum Cleaner NV702UKT Shark have been steadily growing their reputation for producing powerful vacuum cleaners at reasonable prices, to the point where they have become recognised as one of the go-to brands and are competing with the big boys.

The DuoClean is a corded upright that uses two cleaning technologies in one unit, this lets you move from carpets to hard floors without stopping and adjusting the settings.

The two motorised brush-rolls work in unison in the floorhead drawing up large and small debris whilst lifting stuck-on dust. moKee WoolNest

When I heard the word moses basket when I fell pregnant, I thought “oh my god” ?? what century are we in, the 1800s? But the fool that I am, I soon found out that they are one of the baby must haves, a product so good it has stood the test of time. This doesn’t mean it needs to be all frills and lace, the moKee WoolNest is one of the trendier baskets out there, they even claim it to be “the coolest, hippest, comfiest little nest”.

It is made from a blend of wool, felt and polyester which makes it both flexible and sturdy, the base of the Moses basket being made from birch plywood and a beechwood stand, giving it a pretty low carbon footprint thanks to the sustainable materials. The main basket is grey and then you have a choice of four flashes of colourful detail, Summer Dash Yellow, Azure Drop Blue, Neon Pumpkin Orange, and Pink Mallow. There are six liners available (from £16) and nine mattress covers including a waterproof one (from £12).

This nest is suitable for babies up to 6 months old or until they can sit unaided, roll over or push up on hands and knees and can hold up to 9kg (19lbs). I loved that whole thing comes flat-packed and needs minimal assembly, I know you are thinking, who wants to assemble anything? But being flat-packed also means that it can be folded away.

Brilliant for popping in the car without taking up too much room and whipping round to grandparents or the in-laws, lets make sure there is no excuse for them not to watch baby for a while.

The reflex foam mattress provides a comfortable sleeping spot, the version we received came with the optional Aloe Vera infused quilted cover, this is removable and machine washable and aims to aid in reflex soothing and cooling whilst remaining a breathable mattress (fully safety regulated for newborns).

So, is it worth the price, well for your money you are getting a light, compact, portable, modern and comfortable space for your bundle of joy to sleep and that for many would be priceless.

Salomon Wildcross Moving from the city to countryside changed up my exercise routine in ways I didn’t expect, aside from trying to get in a run before it gets dark at 3pm in the winter, the increased amount of off-road trails meant it was time to switch out my road runners for something a bit more appropriate.

The Wildcross trail shoes were much more suitable, available in Meadowbrook / Black / North Atlantic, Black and the India Ink / Wine Tasting / Black version I got the pleasure of testing. These rugged shoes feature chunky multidirectional lugs for solid grip on muddy and wet terrain, whilst the SensiFit shape cradles the foot all the way from the midsole to the lacing system, keeping a secure fit for a precise fit all the way around the foot. This secure foundation lets you confidently push yourself further and rack up the speed without the fear of slipping or sliding. The optimized drop and stack height add to the steadiness, with the 8mm drop and reduced amount of cushioning keeping your foot close to the ground, letting you feel the surface beneath your feet.

The full rubber Contagrip TA outsole has the right amount of flex for a natural feel and have been built for maximum grip on loose, soft, rugged, and uneven surfaces. DreamTex wings and water-repellent TUP mesh keeps your feet dry when running through wet grass while letting them breathe from the inside. The toe box is roomy enough for a natural spread of the toes, the quick lace system means you just need to slide your foot in, pull on the toggle and off you go, giving you less time to find a reason to stay at home, the excess lace can be stored in the handy pocket on the tongue.

Weighing 290g these tough shoes are suitable for both training and race days or muddy, soft and technical terrains. It is hard to find fault with these shoes, the sharp lugs saw me safely across waterlogged fields and uneven footpaths, the fit was comfortable and precise straight out of the box and my socks were dry when I got home.

The QuietOn are noise cancelling earbuds designed to help you get a quiet night’s sleep, they can also be used to prevent noise distractions whilst working. These wireless earbuds have a small design with memory phone ear tips in sizes large, medium and small, to provide a tight seal whilst remaining comfortable through the night. These are the smallest active noise cancelling earbuds in the world, the active noise cancelling uses a microphone to sample the sound, and a speaker to create a phase-shifted sound that cancels the original sound. There is a small button on each ear that can be pressed to activate hearing mode in individual ears, you don’t want to miss out on your partner offering you a morning cuppa.

The issue here is you have to press into the ear to switch it off, it might be easier to take it out, but the option is there.

It is worth noting that these earbuds cannot be connected to your phone to play your own sleep casts or white noise, it is just the noise cancellation which was a surprise when you look at the price tag. If you need quiet not noise to help you drift off or concentrate and are regularly in situations with lots of noisy distractions these might be worth the investment.

Childhome Care Backpack Leatherlook Brown

As a family we have a preference for the neutral and unisex baby items making it easier to share the parentally responsibilities as much as possible which means the look of the Childhome Care Backpack was right up our street.

With a slightly more masculine look it is nice to see an item aimed at the chaps this time. This bag has a simple design and with the necessary storage making it suitable for day trips, nursery or hospital, measuring up at 31 x 17 x 41cm it might be a little too small for those parents who like to pack the entire house with them. The 100% PU Leather looks great and feels lovely and soft to the touch, however it is a little delicate and can get scratched on rough surfaces, better suited for an urban environment than the wilderness. I liked the front compartment designed for quick location of all the nappy essentials, it has a changing mat and two pockets for all the accessories. Inside the main part of the bag there is an elasticated band for bottles and another pocket for whatever you fancy (you can never have enough pockets).

There is a neat little detachable information tag for your details, so the nursery knows whose bag belongs to who. Back on the outside there is a little zipped pocket and two netted side pockets for storing drinks, snacks, toys or anything else you might need quick access to, if you child is like mine, they will be filled with stones, feathers and conkers.

The fastenings are good quality with strong zippers, however we would love see fully waterproof zips added for piece of mind, although during my testing I didn’t find any leaks. The two padded adjustable straps mean both hands are free at all times but the Pu Leather and zero ventilation and the back panel means you might find yourself with a sweat patch on warmer days. If you are looking for a bag to handle rugged adventures this might not be the one for you, but if it’s a stylish, functional and unisex bag ready for playdates and weddings alike this bag has got what you need.

Nokta Makro Midi Hoard and Mini Hoard This would have been my absolute dream present as a child, me and my sister used to dig about in the garden and find bits of broken plates I still don’t know where they came from, but we would convince ourselves that they were ancient pieces of treasure.

If I had the chance of finding pieces of metal, I would have dug up the entire garden. The Midi and Mini Hoard from Nokta Makro is a metal detector specifically designed for your treasure hunters with a size and weight appropriate for small hands and a child friendly interface. The Midi has a shaft that retracts down to 83cm (32.5") and weighs 880g (1.9lbs) whilst the Mini will drop down to 63cm (25") and is 780g (1.7lbs) in weight. The two detectors work in very similar ways but with a few different features specifically chosen for the target age groups. The Midi is best suited for ages 8-12, it uses three audio tones with adjustable volumes and has a seven-inch search coil with a good amount of sensitivity. The Mini is aimed at ages 4-8, a gentle introduction to treasure hunting with a six-inch

search coil which is a shallower detector making sure that little hands can get to the items they can detect, both units work at a 15kHz frequency.

These are the world’s first waterproof kids’ detectors with an IP68 rating making them fully submersible up to 1m (3 ft), great for taking down the beach or marshlands without worrying about them damaging the unit. Both detectors have child friendly menus and basic settings to play with, there are LED battery life indicators and depth indicators. They can find, discriminate and pinpoint items. The Mini really breaks things down for the young detectorist by showing them if it’s a good target or a trash or ferrous target and will let them know if the coil is in the right position. These detectors have found the perfect balance between kid friendly use but with the same reliable technology you would find in adult detectors setting them up to fall in love with the hobby and get outside into the natural world.

Ordo Sonic+

Ever since I had the pleasure of wearing braces for two years (along with the removal of 5 teeth) I have been careful about looking after my teeth, anything to avoid the chance of having more needles stuck in my mouth.

Thankfully sticking to a good oral health routine involves very little effort if you have the right toothbrush and these tend to come in the form of electric tooth brushes like the Ordo Sonic+. This toothbrush comes in three designs Black, Rose Gold and White/Silver, it comes with bespoke brushing modes to get a personalised clean every time, each setting has a two-minute timer to ensure you are brushing for long enough (most of us don’t). The four brushing modes are Whitening, Clean, Massage and Sensitive, with the Sensitive setting being particularly useful for those whose gums can bleed easily.

The Timer breaks up into four parts helping you to focus on each quad of your mouth for an all over clean, the sonic pulse technology pulsates 40,000 times per minute helping to remove plaque for a deeper clean. This leads us nicely to the subscription options, these are not compulsory as brush heads are available separately (£5 for one) as well as toothpaste, mouth wash and other bits. A Basic Refill costs £10 and gets you one Sonic+ Brush Head, 80ml toothpaste, 25ml travel toothpaste, the Recommended Refill comes with one Sonic+ Brush Head, 25ml & 80ml Toothpaste, 18 Interdental Brushes, Dental Floss and Mouthwash Concentrate. You can choose to receive your subscription every 1, 2 or 3 months. The Sonic+ has lots of great features however it seems to missing one biggy, there is no pressure sensor to prevent you from pushing too hard, a bad habit a lot of us have. Manduca Twist

£50.90 All baby carriers claim they provide the best for comfort and safety but this is no sales pitch when it comes to the manduca Twist, I didn’t expect to feel jealous that I was not going to be carried around in comfort in my local supermarket. Constructed from 100% certified organic cotton it is silky soft to the touch and gentle on baby’s skin, it comes in five colours including craspedia rouge, craspedia olive mint, craspedia gold, anthracite-black and grey-mint.

This carrier is ready to be used from 3.5kg (7 lbs) all the way up to 15kg (33lbs) with the size-adjustable pouch with a bridge that is easily adaptable by simply turning the cloth over. It uses the M-position hold which meets the CEN/ TR 16512:2015 standard and has been acknowledged as a “hip-healthy” baby product by the IHDI (International Hip Dysplasia Institute). That should set any expectant mothers mind at rest.

There is integrated neck support for those wee ones with

no head control that doubles up as a head rest as they get a bit bigger, it has been designed for wearers of all shapes and sizes, I am on the larger side and found it as comfortable as my partner did. One major highlight is that the Twist can be worn on the front and back, letting you and bubs find the most comfortable position for different occasions. If I’m just browsing in the shop then I am more than happy to carry little one on my front for a cuddle but when it comes to doing the weekly shop, it is so much more convenient to carry them on my back for a hands-free experience.

The only negative point I could see was like so many carriers it takes some time to get the hang of the technique for putting on, although the drawstring helps with binding and twisting. The gorgeous designs and comfortable fit make this a great choice for those looking to transport baby in close contact and handsfree way.

Hedkayse One The Hedkayse One is far from your standard helmet. Rather than being made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) with a polycarbonate shell like most of helmets we review, it is largely constructed from a product called Enkayse, which is a flexible expanded polyurethane (EPU). Press your thumb into the Enkayse and you will leave a slight dent that then disappears within a second or two, I found this strangely satisfying.

The EPU design means you can have the odd bump and fall and the helmet will still retain its integrity, whereas the common helmet material (EPS) can take one impact which crushes the lining which the means the helmet will need to be replaced. This material makes the Hedkayse One the only cycle helmet which actually recovers after receiving a knock.

"Because Enkayse dissipates energy rather than deforming on impact, it also cushions small bumps," says Hedkayse. "Polystyrene can't do this, meaning forces which are too weak to deform it are transmitted through to the brain.

Enkayse provides comfort in protecting from small bumps. This may also have long-term benefits as researchers believe the cumulative effect of small knocks contributes to brain disease over time.

The Hedkayse One is created for Urban life and commuting, Hedkayse’s theory being that, in a busier / higher risk environment the priority focuses on robustness and reliability. Having a recovering core material means the customer doesn’t have to look after their helmet, it looks after them. It’s the steel toe boot of the cycle helmet world! Enkayse also isn’t affected by deodorant, sunblock, insect repellent or other sprays which can damage most cycle helmets.

You need to bear in mind a few compromises, though. First, the Hedkayse One is pretty heavy. At 496g, it's twice the weight of some EPS helmets.

Admittedly, it's sports-type helmets that tend to be lightest, but the Hedkayse One is also heavier than most commuter-style lids. No one wearing a helmet like this is going to be bothered about setting Strava KOMs but you can feel that difference in use.

The TAF (Tough and Flexible) outer shell, is "a specifically engineered ripproof military grade ballistic nylon" that's rugged enough to put up with plenty of abuse too. Cleaning with soapy water isn't difficult although the woven texture means it's not quite as simple as with a smooth EPS shell.

We feel the product is both worth it’s price and place in the market and if you are looking for a durable social helmet then look no further.

This pump has a soft silicone inlay in the funnel for a comfortable fit against the skin, this is one of the top priorities when picking a pump, but the downside is there is only one size to choose from, ladies come in all shapes and sizes and a one size fits all approach isn’t necessarily going to work for everyone. The whole unit is BPA and BPS free which deserves a massive thumbs up.

In 1967 at The Californian Monterey pop festival The Jimi Hendrix Experience were introduced on stage to 90,000 people. Jimi, Noel and Mitch played a set which immediately won over a huge number of new fans, using a basic rig played through the legendary Monterey sound system. The crowd were spellbound by Jimi’s guitar performance and the press were hugely impressed by Jimi setting fire to his Fender on stage (an obvious publicity gimmick which clearly worked, perhaps too well). Over 50 years later guitarists are still trying to replicate the Jimi Hendrix sound.

Keeley have produced the Monterey Pedal as a ‘Jimi Hendrix in a box’ product to give any guitarist a chance to get close to the Hendrix tones in one hit. If you do not already have a basic old school Fuzzface with vintage semiconductor transistor plus a uni-vibe pedal and an auto wah pedal, then this pedal will give you all three in one and with more besides.

Straight out of the box and I am old enough to have owned a shirt with the same colour scheme and pattern as the pedal, however, the guitar effects have remained popular much longer than the shirt pattern of the time.

Keeley have included a lot of options in this pedal which will please most people and annoy others, as there is a need to explore the pedal carefully to find the tones you are looking for.

The foot buttons are standard right for fuzz and left for moderation. Starting with the fuzz side as this is the easy part with only two controls. The top right knob adjusts the amount of fuzz while top left is the output level. No tone adjustment or any other tweaks because in 1967 these did not exist. This transition-based fuzz effect will give you the Hendrix type clean tone which is more awkward to achieve with a modern digital fuzz. The trick is to not turn down the fuzz on the pedal but to set it towards the max, thereby rolling off the volume on your guitar until it sounds just right for a Hendrix clean tone which is warm and just a little bit dirty when played softly but starts to fuzz if you dig in harder. This way you have control at your finger tips rather than grovelling on the floor. To adjust the level simply up the volume on the amp to compensate, remember louder is always more gooder! You should then have a good approximation of a Hendrix clean tone which can instantly be rolled into full fuzz by using the guitar volume knob.

The modulation side is more complex. It includes a central mini 3-way toggle switch, presumably chosen to keep it protected from the user’s wayward foot. The downside of this being that it is difficult to see where it is set from above. The switch engages the rotary effect left, vibe effect centre and wah effect right. Three significantly different effects which work well individually and are adjusted with the two knobs immediately to the right for depth and rate of modulation and the far-left knob adjusts the level of modulation. The final knob, marked octave, is essentially an additional effect which works well with the wah and vibe setting but acts more as a tone control in the rotary setting.

At 12 o’clock the octave knob is off, by turning it to the left a loco octave will be gradually added to your sound, turned to the right and a higher octave will be added to provide another Hendrix option.

The vibe setting gives a whooshy-swooshy effect and the rotary setting is the more subtle Leslie speaker effect. The toggle right engages the auto wah, which is another Hendrix tone, this fine on its own but to fully control the wah effect you will need a separate expression pedal plugged into the back of the unit. Playing this side with the fuzz pedal off you have a good selection of interesting tones, kick in the fuzz button and you should be able to find a reasonable match for the Hendrix songs you wish to play.

As with other Keeley pedals, they have included a bonkers button at the rear to choose between normal Hendrix set up fuzz into modulate or reverse this pressed in, from modulation into fuzz. This later option tends to have a mind of its own and produces some wild effects, which I guess have a novelty value.

It will take time to set up the tones you are looking for and remembering where to find them again but then all that is required is to spend a lifetime trying to lean to play all the licks and tricks which Hendrix made famous. Alternatively, you may find a sound to make all your own, which is better still.

I use a standard American Fender Strat to get my Hendrix tones but any reasonable guitar will work well. Hendrix could have used a basic tube amp (Solid State amps will not respond as well to this driven sound) and an expression pedal into the back of the unit would be a good investment. Restringing your guitar with the special Hendrix strings gauges is probably not worth the faff. Although Hendrix was left-handed and played a right-handed Strat upside down with the strings reversed, I suspect this has little influence on the sound. Try not to become too obsessed and definitely stay away from setting fire to your fender in your bedroom, or anywhere else.

Beldray Cordless Roller Cylinder Vacuum

The Beldray Cordless Roller Cylinder Vacuum is a bit of an anomaly squeezing in between cordless vacuums but with a two-piece design, handy for those short of space for storing bulky uprights.

This cylinder vacuum has a 200-watt motor that can be changed between low to high-speed suction power of 10KPA and 16KPA. The battery takes about four hours to receive a full charge, this will give you a run time of up to 20 minutes on its highest setting, which is longer than some premium cordless vacuums, however it will only last an extra 10 minutes on the lower setting which was a surprise. The motorised floor brush helps to whip up dirt, dust and hair from both hard floors and carpets, there is also a small round brush ideal for upholstery and delicate furniture as well as a 2 in 1 crevice nozzle for getting into those tight spaces under units and along tight edges. When it comes to doing tricky spots like the stairs there is a carry strap that can be attached to the rolling cylinder which can then be worn on the shoulder.

The downside to this is that the strap needs to be removed when you are rolling the unit on the floor again, the strap then needs to be tucked in a pocket or somewhere. The cylinder itself is light and pulls around the house easily, like many of these floor units it can get stuck on corners or in doorways but is easy to wiggle free. This cordless vacuum can hold up to 500ml in the dust bin before it needs to be emptied which is slightly on the conservative side. This vacuum handles itself well on both hard floors and carpets, the dual unit system although easy to navigate may seem like a step back for some but having a chunk of the weight on the ground means the handheld part is much lighter and more user friendly.

FlightScope Mevo The FlightScope mevo is an entry-level launch monitor that offers advanced ball flight data for only £400. When it was first announced, golfers were excited by the list of parameters it can measure, which are the following: Carry distance, club head speed, ball speed, smash factor, vertical launch angle, spin rate, apex height, and flight time.

There are some features that the Mevo does not have, metrics such as path, face-to-path, angle of attack, offline measurement, and descent angle. However, we are not all professional tour players who have £10k down the back of the sofa.

I’ve tested almost every launch monitor on the market at various price points ranging from £250 all the way up to £20,000. Each of them has their strengths and weaknesses. I was curious to see where mevo fits in, so I tested it both indoors and outdoors to see how it stacked up regarding accuracy and ease-of-use.

The mevo uses radar technology to measure ball flight and might not always be the best choice of monitor if you have limited space indoors.

These are attractive earbuds producing a consistently clear signal with an enjoyable sound, perfect for clocking out from the world when you are out and about.

Arc’teryx Beta AR Jacket Men's

The Arc’teryx Beta AR is a Gore-Tex shell Jacket that is so light it only weighs an astounding 1lb, it packs away compactly and the AR stands for All Rounder so is built to withstand the most extreme alpine conditions.

We have certainly had the weather recently to give the jacket a true test, with the second lockdown has come the second instalment of daily walks round our village, now it wasn’t windy but the rain was teeming and I didn’t care, the jacket kept me both warm and more importantly dry.

Now it is made to withstand wind, rain and snow with the Beta AR being made from Gore-Tex Pro, a material they developed in collaboration with Gore to deliver maximum durability. I haven’t been able to test this in the snow but it has an inbuilt collar that is separate from the hood and will block out these conditions. The brimmed hood is helmet compatible. This is very useful if you are into snow sports, mountaineering, or any other activity where you need both

a helmet for protection and a hood to keep you dry.

In general, my size of jacket is a large but I found the sizing a little baggier to my normal fit so you may want to consider this before purchase, however it was so comfortable, you feel so mobile with no restrictions across the entire jacket this is made for trekking. When you are really getting accosted by the heavens you will find drawstrings practically everywhere across the jacket to pull it tight and seal yourself away from the elements.

This is a big statement, but so it should be with the £500 price, this is hands down the best rainproof jacket I have ever worn. If you are an active outdoorsman save up and purchase this jacket because I have never reviewed a jacket like it.

It is lightweight, weighing in at less than 2kg which is great for those long treks from the car, over the dunes and to the beach or to your favourite picnic spot.
