Girafus Pro-Track-Tor Pet Tracker I have lost track of the number of times I have been calling one of my fur babies to come in for the night only to have my anxiety build with every minute I don’t see their fluffy face appear over the fence. In my mind kitty has gone, jumped into the nearest delivery van and is halfway across the country, however when I put my coat and shoes on, grab a can of treats and head out to find them nine times out of ten they pop up just mere metres away. If you have a four-legged friend who acts in a similar way and you don’t want to get a reputation by peering into the neighbour’s gardens looking for them the Girafus Pro-Track-Tor Pet Tracker might be an ideal solution. The Pro-Track-Tor is suitable for both cats and dogs, it uses a safe 2.4GHz radio frequency technology that comes in the form of a small tag transmitter and a handheld base unit receiver. The tag weighs 8g with the battery installed and measures up at 38x25x11mm making it one of the smallest and lightest in this field, the base unit is 95x65x14mm making it comfortable to fit in the palm of your hand and slip into your pocket. The tag comes with a protective silicon splashproof sleeve, ideal for those pets who aren’t afraid of exploring in the wet. The base unit can connect up to 4 individual tags, it comes with all the batteries you need as well as a Velcro strap to attach to the collar, a lanyard for the base unit and a mini screwdriver to secure the battery case. The tracker comes pre-configured, no complicated pairing or syncing processes, no apps to download or subscription fees, this is an ideal unit for someone looking for a simple and cost-effective approach. The tag offers up to 500 metres connection in a clear line of sight with a directional LED indicator that will show you the right direction to search area. There are also signal tones that will beep as you get closer to your pet, the audio can be switched off if you want a more discrete search, the smart sleep mode helps conserve the battery giving it up to two months use, we would love for the Tag to be rechargeable to save replacing the batteries rather regularly. The Pro-Track-Tor Pet Tracker is a light weight, low cost and fuss free way to find your pet when they are playing silly buggers, as it uses RF technology instead of GPS the signal isn’t as effective over long distances, it is best suited for cats and dogs that don’t wander too far but like to play hide and seek.

A handy tracker for those cheeky pets that like to hide just out of sight. Pros Low cost Light and compact tag Track up to 4 pets from one base unit Directional tracking with LED and audio indicators

Uses safe 2.4GHz RF technology Splash resistant case Smart sleep mode Ready to go out of the box Zero subscriptions, apps or complicated connectivity

Cons Batteries require replacing regularly Struggles in built up areas Limited range For more information on the Girafus Pro-Track-Tor Pet Tracker click here

Ruffwear Vert Jacket When the weather is as bad as it has been lately most of us will opt to stay indoors in the warm, however if you are a dog owner you probably don’t get that luxury and as much as we wrap up warm it is always worth considering your pets needs too. The Ruffwear Vert Jacket is a waterproof and windproof jacket made for dogs of all shapes and sizes, it comes in sizes XXSmall all the way up to XLarge with a handy size guide on the website to help you out when ordering. It is available in two bright colours, Sockeye Red and Blue Atoll helping you spot them easily when they are off the lead. There is also reflective trim detailing which will be picked up by torches and headlights as well as a light loop for attachment point which can be one you already own, or you can look at getting the Beacon light from Ruffwear designed to work with the jacket. This shell jacket has a soft polyester fleecy lining with an anti-pilling coating and DWR finish to keep off the rain, however if pup likes to get a good workout, they won’t become too warm as the Vert remain breathable. The leg loops can be used in particularly bad weather to keep the jacket in place and the wind out, there is a hole for the lead to be passed through which allows the Vert to be worn over most harnesses. The collar can be folded up to create a longer storm collar for further protection from the elements or folded back out of the way in calmer weather. Getting the jacket on the dog is made as simple as possible although we know some dogs just see this is as a big game, it has a relaxed fit with the release buckles located at the side rather than underneath. At the end of the walk if the Vert is dirty it can be put in the washing machine on a cold, gentle wash and then hung to dry ready for the next trip out. The Vert is a great choice for those dogs who simply won’t let the bad weather stop them from enjoying a good adventure. The extended length provides good coverage from neck all the way back to the hips keeping them toasty and dry, even if you are freezing and soaked.

Ensure your doggo is wrapped up warm and dry against the winter weather with this cosy, waterproof jacket.

Kipozi V7 2 in 1 Straightener and Curling Iron The Kipozi V7 arrived beautifully packaged, far above the expectations we had for a product in this price bracket. As well as the straightener/ curling iron you also get a heat resistant glove, salon comb, two salon hair clips, a velvet pouch and that lovely gift box. The build quality feels robust and looks sleek with a rose gold finish, it features a generous 8ft long, tangle free 360° swivel cord to allow you to comfortably reach your mirror without rearranging the furniture. It is made with worldwide voltage 100-240V, ensuring you can take it on your travels. The 3D floating plates are made from nano-titanium. This material heats up quickly and evenly getting up to the required temperature in just 30 seconds (lowest temperature), with the smooth finish preventing tugging and pulling the hair and that floating effect lets the plates adjust to compression when styling, with shock absorption underneath. The PTC smart temperature twist-heat-system allows for fast straightening at a constant and adjustable temperature to protect all heat types from heat damage, set it between 130˚C and then increase it 10˚C steps all the way up to 230˚C with a twist of the handle. The handle can be used to lock the plates together, simply pull the handle down away from the plates to release the locking system, the rounded barrel makes for easy curling with just a twist and wrap without leaving dents in the hair. For safety the V7 will automatically switch off after 60 minutes to ensure you can’t accidently leave them on before heading out the house, whilst the LED indicators will let you know when the tongs are switched on and off. We were pleasantly surprised with the Kipozi V7, a brand we hadn’t come across before at a reasonable price, rather beautifully packaged with quality accessories and a decent performance. When curling the length cable can slow things down a little as it’s a bit heavy and inflexible but it gets easier with practise, we would like to see a way to lock the temperature as the handle can be twisted by accident.

Pros 3D floating nanotitanium plates

Worldwide compatibility 8ft lead Rounded barrel makes for easier curling

Smooth straightening action

Makes a lovely gift Cons Cord can slow down curling

Temperature can be accidently adjusted

Toniebox Starter Kit The Toniebox is a screen free interactive audio device, this comes in the form of a speaker cube, made with soft sustainable fabric that is squidgy but fairly robust and can withstand rough use from little hands. It features a headphone jack, LED display, built in battery and Wi-Fi connectivity and comes in six colours, green, purple, pink, red, blue and grey. The volume controls are really cute, two squeezy ears, one slightly bigger than the other allows the Toniebox to be turned up or down, a tap on the sides will skip the tracks whilst leaning it forward or backwards with fast forward or rewind the audio. The Toniebox come ready to go, to activate an audio adventure simple pop a Tonie on top and it will automatically begin, the starter kit comes with a Creative-Tonie, this little figure can be used to store up to 90 minutes of your own MP3s, audiobooks or recordings of your own narrated stories. The charging station is included which provides up to 7hours of continuous play making it handy for travelling, especially with the headphones and it can still play audio without needing to be connected to the internet. Along with the Creative-Tonies (additional characters available for £11.99 each) there are the regular Tonies, these characters come preloaded with audio including stories, songs and educational nonfiction. There are over 60 Tonies to choose from including Disney, Elmer?, Pepper Pig, The Gruffalo as well as classic fairy tales, lullabies and sing-alongs with new ones coming out in the

future. The majority are aimed at younger listeners but there are a few that go up to ages 8+. Both the Tonies and Creative Tonies are beautifully made, each with its own unique little character that has been hand painted and made from robust child friendly materials (suitable for ages 3 years and up). These little characters just need to be popped on top of the box, it is guided and held into place via a magnet and the story will automatically start to download (you will need Wi-Fi at this point) the story will start to play whilst the rest continues to download in the background. The LED lets you know when it’s fully downloaded and it can then be played at any time without needing internet connection, the audio is downloaded from the Toniecloud. Via the app you can access the Toniecloud where you can customise the Toniebox and set up your Creative-Tonies. We love this sweet little storyteller, the characters are very cute and collectable, we just wish they were slightly cheaper as at £14.99 a pop the money soon racks up. Enjoying a good tale or sing song without the distraction of screens and blue light frees up children to play and dance along with the audio whilst at night-time the story time mode can gently ease them off to sleep whilst keeping the lights down low and switching off automatically when it’s finished.

A great way of sharing stories and songs without the screen time and even creating your own tales for the kids.

Cocoon Baby Blanket for car seats and prams Babies can get cold very easily so it is important in those early months to ensure they are warm and cosy at all times, this can become quite a battle of wills when it comes to wrestling on cardigans or tucking in blankets only for them to be kicked off in the next minute. The Cocoon Baby Blanket aims to make things a lot simpler when it comes to the car seat and prams, suitable from newborn up until 6months old. What makes the Cocoon different from pram suits? Well on the back you will find three holes where the pram or car seat harness straps can be threaded through which means the straps sit snuggly against the body, where as a pram suit keeps the straps on the outside. In the event of an accident baby can shift forward in a pram suit risking injury to their fragile bodies whereas being in the Cocoon guarantees that the safety straps are fitted correctly. The blanket has been crash-safety tested and is proven to provide added protection for baby’s head and chest whilst in the car seat, giving you full peace of mind. There are four poppers to fasten the blanket quickly before little one gets a chance to get chilly with the

Pros Crash safety tested Four easy poppers Machine washable Suitable from birth to 6 months

Fits all 3-point harnesses and all 5-point harnesses with detachable straps

Incredibly soft and snuggly Cons Not compatible with undetachable harnesses

large buttons indicating where the poppers are on the inside. Baby can be wrapped up before taking them out to the car, keeping them snug in transit and not disturbing any precious moments of sleep, if you move into a warm café for example you can undo the popper and leave the blanket open, so they don’t get too warm. The blanket is wonderfully soft, in fact in these cold months it’s a shame they don’t make them in adult sizes, it has a warm woollen exterior and super soft fleece lining, that is all machine washable should accidents happen (lets face it, they will). The Cocoon Baby Blanket works with all 3-point and 5-point harness with detachable straps, the only drawback is that if the 5-point straps can’t be removed, many can for cleaning purposes, they cannot be fitted through the holes. As it involves detaching and reattaching the straps it maybe best to get two blankets, one for the car seat and one for the pram (or a spare one ready for wash day). This blanket is such a great idea, you won’t regret the purchase, friends and family will love it as a baby shower gift, plus those chubby cheeks look cute all wrapped up making it worth it for the cute factor alone.

A safe and cosy baby blanket for car seats and prams that keeps the safety harness on the inside. THERE ARE 5 COLOURS AVAILABLE WITH PRICES STARTING FROM £29.99

Gtech Cordless Hedge Trimmer HT 3.0

My dad has accidently sliced through the hedge trimmer cord more times than he would care to admit, it is easily done but none the less entirely frustrating. The answer - go cordless! The HT 3.0 is the latest Cordless Hedge Trimmer to come from Gtech, upgraded with a tougher and thicker blade to handle more in your garden. The HT 3.0 uses a 18V Lithium-ion rechargeable battery which can be charged either on or off the hedge cutter. It is also interchangeable with the Gtech GT 4.0 Grass Trimmer, giving you double the run time for larger gardens. A full charge will deliver up to 60 minutes worth of run time with no cables to watch out for or extension leads to drag across the garden, the high torque 18V motor provides an impressive level of power. The lightweight 2.47kg balanced design makes it comfortable to hold and move about, the adjustable cutting head rotates to 135° and will cut flat along the top of the hedge up to 10ft high, combined with its lightweight making it easy to raise up above the head and control. This trimmer can get through stems up to 15mm thick, making it suitable for most trimming and garden maintenance tasks but it will struggle with thicker hedges. However, there is an optional branch cutter attachment available for an additional £24.99 which can cut through branches up to 60mm thick, giving you even more power in the garden. The battery takes 4 hours to recharge and the built in LED display lets you know how much battery is left. The added safety switch means that one side of the safety switch must be pressed in with the one-handed power trigger to start this trimmer, preventing it from accidently being switched on when picked up or being transported about. The HT 3.0 is a great addition to the garden shed, easy to handle and with powerful cutting. It takes a while to charge up so it is worth checking the battery levels before starting a job. It is a little more expensive but when you add up the costs of all those replacement trimmers after slicing through cables its much better economically, so if that doesn’t convince you, then choose it for the cord free freedom and impressive performance.

Humanscale Diffrient Smart

This chair helps to protect your back and the world’s oceans at the same time.

Pros Made with recycled

Cons Taller users might

fishing nets

prefer higher arms

Comfortable seat Wheels struggle on Ergonomic back support thicker carpets Automatic recline Robust frame Customisable No assembly required

After working from home for nearly a year and things looking likely to remain this way for a while it’s time to upgrade from the dining chair or sofa and look at investing in a decent office chair to properly support the back. The Diffrient Smart chair from Humanscale has set out to tick a number of boxes by delivering style, back support and sustainable materials setting it apart from other office chairs. The Diffrient Smart arrives fully assembled and can be customised at the point of purchase with a range of colours and textures to choose from. The back support is constructed from an intelligent tri-panel mesh, which will automatically adapt to the shape of the users back, no need to fiddle with adjustment knobs if you are sharing the chair with another person. This mesh also allows for a good degree of ventilation keeping you cool in the warmer months (anyone else missed the office air conditioning?), the U-shape design looks glossy and stylish, fitting into both modern and traditional office spaces. The Diffrient uses a weight-sensitive, mechanism-free recline, which will automatically adjust to the body weight of each sitter for recline support with plenty of assistance bringing back into an upright position too. The cushion provides a good amount of support and comfort for a full day’s work, as do the padded arm rests, the arm rests can be individually adjusted to the correct height for the user.

At average height I had these set on one position below the maximum height, this means that taller users might find them a bit on the low side. The seat height is easily raised and dropped via the manual paddle under the chair whilst the wheels on the feet let you move about whilst seated, they struggled a little on the deep pile carpet in my makeshift office, but it wasn’t much of an inconvenience. The Diffrient Smart certainly goes above and beyond your average desk chair, it is comfortable and back friendly.

Ekster Senate Cardholder

We were excited to receive another unique wallet from Ekster this time in the form of the Senate Cardholder, this particular wallet comes in seven different colours Classic Brown, Blush Beige, Merlot Red, Roma Cognac, Steel Blue, Juniper Green and the Nappa Black unfussy version that we received. All the different colours feature a black elasticated cash strap and black card release button, the Senate combines leather and aluminium to deliver a truly robust cardholder with a super slim profile at just 0.3 x 4.1 x 2.3 in (0.85 x 10.5 x 6 cm). The leather used is a top-grain leather that is tanned under gold-rated environmental protocols using ECCO Leather’s new DriTan technology, this leaves a minimal impact on the planet whilst producing a durable finish. The joy of leather is that it will age beautifully and gain character with time, leaving each wallet with an individual look. The cardholder can store a maximum of 6 non-embossed cards, or a combination of 4 - 5 embossed/nonembossed cards (depending on the thickness of each card), we were able to fit in 4 embossed bank cards at one time. Much like we have seen before in the Parliament Wallet and Aluminium Card Holder the Senate has the patented card ejection mechanism, this makes accessing your cards a quick and simple process, no rummaging through your wallet to find the right card. The button is made from plastic, this helps to keep the weight down, but we can’t help but think an aluminium button would just look and feel a little better. When the button is pressed the cards pop up and fan out letting you clearly see the cards and grab the correct one. The removable leather back pocket can be used to store an extra card, a driver’s license for example, it is a little tight at first but will soften up over time, you can even tuck an emergency bank note in here out of view. The Senate also comes with the removable cash strap where bank notes can be tucked in and easily seen, this modular set up allows the wallet to be adapted for different occasions. The Senate also has RFID blocking technology, and the optional extra of adding the Tracker Card ($49). This card is solar powered (2-3months battery life) and uses a worldwide lost and found platform, QR Safety a connection range up to 200 ft (60 m), it can be used to ring your wallet or phone and even take group selfies remotely. If you like to keep things streamlined and only carry what you need then the tough, distinct and smart Senate is definitely worth a look.

KitchenAid Meat Grinder 5KSMFGA One of our favourite things about the KitchenAid Mixer is all the attachments you can get for it, chances are if there is something you want to try out in the kitchen, there is an attachment available to make life a little bit easier. Veggies and Vegans do not turn away at the name Meat Grinder, this attachment unit can do so much more than just grind up meat. This attachment comes with an improved food grinder attachment, fine (4.5 mm) grinding plate, coarse (6 mm) grinding plate, stainless steel knife and food pusher. This popular attachment is compatible with all the stand mixers no matter what size you own and provides quick mincing, grating and grinding of all sorts of different ingredients. Whether you choose to make meatloaf, falafel, salsa and burgers the grinder will make things easier, the stainless-steel grinding plates grind and mince all the ingredients quickly and evenly. The Meat Grinder can also be used to crumble dry bread or nuts and grate vegetables, fruit, and cheese, it comes

with a removable tray and a food pusher, to keep things clean and tidy. When it comes to cleaning the attachment, it can be chucked in the dishwasher with the rest of your cookware so you can enjoy more time eating, less time washing up. When prepping fresh meat and fish it is much easier to handle if the meat is partially frozen, this makes it easier to pass through the grinder. Hard cheese works better than softer cheddar but again it can be popped in the freezer for a bit to firm up before hand, if the cheese or meat becomes softer it can still be ground up it’s just a messier and longer process with the grinder becoming easily clogged. If you are looking to grind up meat every day in large qualities something more industrial would be a better choice, but for home cooking this Meat Grinder is more than capable.

This is a popular attachment for the

KitchenAid Mixer and with its ease of use we can see why.

Pro Mince, grate and grind a range of ingredients

Coarse (6mm) and fine stainless steel (4.5mm) grinding plates

Dishwasher safe Food pusher keeps fingers safe

Even and consistent results

Easy to attach and use Cons Food can become clogged if too soft

Kally Sleep Baby Nest

£79.99

A cosy and portable nest for baby to relax in whilst you gain access to your hands (even if it is for a short while).

We have had the pleasure of reviewing some lovely body pillows from Kally Sleep that can be used to help pregnant mammas get a decent night’s sleep, so it makes perfect sense to turn to them to help provide a cosy spot for baby to rest. The Baby Nest comes in three colours, Powder Pink, Powder Blue and Light Grey, we would have liked to see more colours or patterns available as Light Grey is the only option if you are avoiding those baby pinks and blues. Spare covers available at just £22.49 (usual price £29.99) it comes in one size and measures in at 80cm x 45cm x 15cm with a 60cm x 25cm inner mattress and weighs just 2.2kg making it easy to move about from room to room or take to grandparents’ house. This snug little nest is suitable for new born to 8months old it is safety certified by OKEO-TEX and Intertek to ensure baby’s comfort and security. The Baby Nest is constructed from 100% quilted cotton and padded with a breathable, hypoallergenic stuffing, keeps baby at a comfortable temperature whilst providing a soft texture against delicate skin. There are useful grab handles at the top and sides of the nest and an adjustable Velcro strap at the bottom that lets you increase size of the nest as baby grows or how you choose to use it. This makes the nest a comfy spot for changing (although bare in mind it is not waterproof) and dressing baby, providing some tummy time or taking a supervised nap, it is Kally Sleep’s recommendation that no baby nest should be used for overnight sleeping and your child should be supervised while sleeping in the nest at all times. As comes with the territory of babies, the Nest will probably get dirty at some point but thankfully the cover is removable and can be washed in the machine at 40°C, it will need to be dried naturally on a flat surface so it might be worth having a spare cover to hand. The Nest comes in a zip up travel bag, keeping it clean when throwing it in the back of the car, the soft padding means it’s ideal for popping baby down on firmer surfaces like in the bathroom when you take a bath or in the kitchen at a safe distance whilst you make some lunch for example. The price for such a short age range may put some people off but when it comes to making life just that little bit easier in the early days many will see that as price worth paying.

Pros Soft and breathable Portable, travel case included

Machine washable cover Adjustable size via Velcro strap

Suitable for rest, tummy time and supervised naps

Lightweight Suitable from new born Cons Pricey Short age range Only three colours available For more information on the Kally Sleep Baby Nest click here

Lola & Lykke Smart Electric Breast Pump

When it comes to choosing between an electric or manual breast pump the manual pump has traditionally had the edge for being a more compact and travel friendly option, however the Lola & Lykke Smart Electric Breast Pump is bucking the trend. This breast pump is small, compact and has no tubes or wires to worry about making it highly portable, it is battery powered with a USB rechargeable battery, one full charge will deliver 2-hours of continuous use. The Smart Touch Screen digital display features a memory button and timer for tracking and recording pumping sessions, it’s here you can increase the stimulation and suction levels, the intuitive smart capabilities automatically move through the two stages stimulation and expression mimicking baby's natural sucking pattern, there are six levels of stimulation and nine levels of expression. The screen is quite sensitive and without a physical response to the button press it is easy to accidently jump up a few levels instead of just the one. The pump consists of just five parts that are pre-assembled ready for when you are, it also makes it quick and easy to clean, the breast shield is one size fits all, its smooth and soft construction feels comfortable on the skin, the anti backflow feature uses a closed system to prevent breast milk from backing up to the pump. The collection bottle included is BPA free, but it is also compatible with most standard baby bottles, which is very handy, it also comes with a teat that can be attached directly to the bottle ready to feed. The bottle stand is a nice touch giving you a secure place to stand the pump upright before and after use, freeing up your hands to rearrange clothing. We also received a 10 pack of Pump Storage Bags (£10), this means milk can be directly expressed into the bags with the pump adaptor, this can then be used in reverse by attaching the feeding teat to the bag and feeding straight away. The bags can be laid flat for fast freezing, they arrive pre-sterilised, leak-proof and ready thaw and warm up for use, the bags are BPA and phthalate free and can be safety frozen for up to six months. Although these bags are convenient unfortunately, they are single use only, this may put people off as society moves away from disposable plastics. The Smart Electric Breast Pump is wonderfully convenient, compact, portable, quiet and compatible with most of the popular baby bottles, if you are looking for a wireless pump with the power of an electric, this is definitely worth a look.

Pros Adapters allow pumping straight into bag and feed straight from bag USB C charger (can even use power banks to recharge) Soft breast shield Stimulation and expressing mode Compatible with most baby bottles Easy to assemble and clean Quiet Highly portable and compact Cons Storage bags single use only Touch screen a little over sensitive No carry case included

Doro 780X

£150

A great choice for keeping in touch and seeking help when needed without complicated and unnecessary apps and features. For more information on the Doro 780X click here

Doro create products that use technology to bring people together in the most inclusive way possible. Just because a phone can do 100 different things doesn’t mean it has too, and complexity can put a lot of people off, convinced they won’t know how to operate it. The Doro 780X is one of their easiest-to-use mobile phones that considers safety and connectivity a priority, putting you in touch with only those most trusted. The Doro 780X will only allow the three most relied upon contacts to be called and uses three large keys that give the user space to write their names on labels to quickly identify these people, no menus to navigate or numbers to remember in an emergency. Text messages can be received but not sent, preventing vulnerable seniors from accidentally sending out messages. There is an emergency Response button located on the back of the phone – this is a free-to-use feature on compatible Doro phones that alerts pre-selected Responders, that are connected in the Seniors Circle of Care simultaneously, as well as sharing the GPS location of the senior in the event of an emergency. The safety timer can be activated when the user is taking a shower or popping out in the garden - for example, if it is not deactivated before the end of the countdown it will alert the emergency contacts. Alternatively, for £15 per month, users will have access to instantaneous, 24-hour support from the Doro Alarm Receiving Centre, should their Circle of Care be unavailable.

The phone has an IP54 rating making it water resistant from rain or water being knocked over onto it, but fully waterproof would be better in case it gets knocked into the washing up bowl for example. The Doro 780X is also hearing aid compatible with a T4/M3, T3/M3 rating, the ringer has 15 volume settings going up to 75dB at 1m distance, there is also a visual ring indicator. This phone provides a loud and clear sound as well as a large easy to read display, it has Bluetooth 4.2, optional display modes for visually impaired users, and 8 hours talk time with up to 330 hours of standby time. There is a dual sim option which might be handy for some but feels like an unnecessary complication, it also comes with an upright charging cradle so it can always be in the line of sight when in the home. Setting up takes a little time, no issue for the tech savvy but it might mean the intended user will need a little help if they struggle with technology, it may even take a day or two for them to get used to it, but it is essentially very easy to use. The Doro 780X is a good choice for the vulnerable, elderly, visually and hearing impaired, or someone just looking for a super basic phone without all the bells and whistles, with fast and easy access to contacts when you need them most.

Pros Easy navigation 3 speed dial numbers with name labels

Emergency assistance button Count down timer GPS location alerts Receive texts Hearing and visually impaired optional settings

Loud volume and clear display Good battery life Cons Might need help setting up the device

Would love it to be fully waterproof instead of water resistant

Amazfit Bip U It is easy to get caught up in a new year’s resolution, spending ages researching equipment you might need and the best way to get started, this can take you all the way though to spring before you actually get going. If fitness is your 2021 focus but you are reluctant to invest too much of your wage packet into the commitment the Amazfit Bip U is a good place to start, you don’t need to over think things with this entry level fitness tracker. At just under £44 it has all the features you would expect to see from a much more expensive tracker, available in Black, Green or Pink, the straps are interchangeable, and it has a large 1.43” HD colour screen. There are over 50 watch faces available to download for a personalised look you can even upload your own photos for something more familiar or use one of the animated watch faces for a unique look. It weighs just 31g and measures in at 40.9 x 35.5 x 11.4mm making it a little chunkier than the higher end watches but is still more than comfortable for all day wear. The Bip U claims to run up to nine days from one full charge but to achieve this you would have to be using it very minimally, with normal usage we estimate getting between 4-5 days with a full recharge taking less than two hours. The outer casing is water-resistant up to 50 meters, allowing you to take it swimming, in the shower and leave it on when you wash up. You may be surprised to find for the price that this watch has a newly upgraded biological optical tracking sensor, the BioTrackerTM 2, this measures your blood-oxygen saturation and will pick up if you are feeling unwell, stressed out, engaging in an intense workout or in high-altitude and hypoxic environments. There is also 24/7 heart rate monitoring via the Huami-proprietary PPG biological optical sensor, which delivers accurate results, or at least as accurate as you can obtain from a wrist sensor of this kind. With over 60+ sports modes to choose from there has to be something you will fall in love with, the Bip U will then record the walking distance, speed, heart rate changes, calories burned, whether you are exercising in your fat burning zone or cardiopulmonary strengthening zone you can receive alerts in real time if your heart rate gets too high. The PAI health evaluation system uses algorithms to process information such as your heart rate, activity duration, and other health info into numerical values, and presents its finding without being restricted by the time, place, or form of exercise, allowing you to check your progress across a whole range of workouts. The Bip U will keep working whilst you sleep and provide feedback in the morning about your deep sleep, light sleep, REM, awake time, and afternoon naps and give you a sleep quality score. There is even a breathing training feature to help recognise when you are stressed and need to take some time out to relax and reset. There are a few things to consider before rushing out to buying one, although you can set up the watch to receive notifications from your phone, it appeared to be unreliable and there is no way to reply to those messages or calls. There is also no built in GPS that is reserved for the Bip S and is forgivable for this price range. Other features include the alarm clock, world clock, stopwatch, pomodoro clock, music control, find my phone, phone camera shutter control, count down and weather forecasts. The Bip U uses the Zepp app (previous the Amazfit app confusing I know) which delivers a reasonably userfriendly experience, although it can be a bit clunky starting up and syncing your data. For what you get for your money the Bip U is extremely good value, perfect for people looking for a good all-rounder, who don’t want to get bogged down in too many stats but with a clear overview across a range of health and lifestyle areas.

This fitness tracker delivers so much more than you would expect for your money.

Pros Comfortable and light Water resistant Accurate tracking Packed with features Good value for money Colourful and clear screen Blood-oxygen saturation sensor Cons Notifications can be unreliable App can be a bit slow at uploading data Not compatible with 3 party apps

Browning Recon Force Advantage

We have recently been able to appreciate our outdoor spaces in a whole new way, you may have discovered a whole new world living on your doorstep that you never had the time to notice before. The Browning Recon Force Advantage trail camera provides a way to get an even more detailed look into this secretive world, packed full of tech it allows you to capture videos and films of all the action happening when you are not around. This camera measures up at 5” x 4” x 2.5” with a rugged casing and camo finish it blends in with its surrounding and can withstand the elements. It comes with a 12-volt external power jack and can be mounted via the ¼” -20 tripod socket or the metal tree mount bracket. It is worth noting you will need 8AA batteries that are not included, we chose rechargeable batteries, even though on a full charge the battery indicator was saying there was 75% left but this didn’t have an influence on the battery life. The Recon will also require a SDXC memory card that’s not included, with a compatibility all the way up to 512GB, the SD card management options allow you to choose to overwrite older images on the SD card if the memory is full. Images and films can be viewed on the television or computer via the TV out and USB Port, it is also compatible with the Browning Buck Watch Timelapse viewer software. The 2 inch colour screen sits at the front of the camera and allows you to set up the perfect angle and review your images without removing the camera from its mount, the SD card can also be popped out easily to check your footage without losing that perfect angle. The camera settings are fully adjustable with variable detection range from 55ft. - 80 ft, 3 different IR flash modes (Power Save, Long Range, Fast Motion) for capturing the best picture control at night with Illuma-Smart technology that automatically adjusts the IR Flash depending on the conditions. The 20 MP pictures has an adaptable trigger speed between 0.2 - 0.7 second and a 0.6sec recovery time between Images, whilst the 1920 x 1080 full HD video can be set to either 30 or 60 frames per second. There is the option of selecting up to 8 multi shot rapid fire images with a programmable picture delay of 1 sec – 60 min. All the images have an information bar that not only displays the time and date, but also the camera ID, temperature and moon phase (for werewolves?). Additional features include the Timelapse mode, Smart IR video, which continues recording video whilst the animal is moving in front of the camera, the videos are also recorded with sound. When using the Recon Force for the first time all the settings might seem a little over whelming, but you will soon get the hang of things, the field of view and image quality provide excellent photos. We had few false triggers during high winds, but the majority of the footage featured something, even if it was our own cat, the videos are equally impressive with reasonable sound adding to the detail. All those setting options, healthy battery life and quality footage makes this camera ideal for everything from catching large game on your grounds or mice and hedgehogs at your back door.

Pulseroll Vibrating Foam Roller The only way to build up muscle is to push it to its limits, switching up the moves and resistance regularly will improve your stamina and create gains, the downside to this is that your muscles can often feel stiff and sore the next day. DOMS, (delayed onset muscle soreness) is a reminder that you have pushed your body but could also be a sign that you didn’t warm up or warm down correctly or maybe a combination of both. Foam rollers, love them or hate them, are an effective way of massaging deep into the tissue, this foam roller from Pulseroll brings a new dynamic by vibrating deep into the muscles helping to increase blood flow and reduce next day soreness. The Vibrating Foam Roller comes in Black or Red and the new and improved motor that offers four vibration levels. Level one produces 1300 RPM, level two 2000 RPM, level three 1300 to 2700 RPM (Pulsating) and level four 3700 RPM, the rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts up to 240 minutes with an average life of 3 hours. The levels can easily be adjusted via the buttons on the device or if you have got yourself into an awkward position there is a handy remote that can be used instead. Due to the motor it is heavier than your average foam roller at 1kg, the inner tube is solid unlike traditional foam rollers and with its 15cm circumference it can be difficult to hold onto with one sweaty hand. If you are using the roller on floorboards be prepared for things to get loud, the vibrations are very strong so you will get some odd looks in the gym but man does it feel good, it borders on that almost painful level and afterwards your muscles feel more relaxed and supple. The Pulseroll Vibrating Foam Roller isn’t subtle by any means, but it helps with all those knots and tension, use it to warm up muscles before an exercise and flush away lactic acid at the end of a session to help aid recovery.

Get deeper into those muscles with 3700 RPM of vibrations.

The main device and all the accessories have a premium feel about them, the cordless design makes it easy to use wherever you are and on whatever part of the body you choose to treat. Freetrain Rechargeable Illuminate LEDS There was a recent online argument in one of my local social media groups over joggers, walkers and dog walkers being out and about around the countryside in dark clothing and not being visible to drivers on the road. As with all internet arguments it deteriorated rapidly into name calling and trolling but it got me thinking, how visible am I when I am out for a run? I will always wear either a high vis yellow or orange vest over my running gear, there are strips of reflective material here and there, but the majority of my clothing is very dark. I toyed with the idea of getting a harness with front and rear lights but before I made a decision the new Freetrain Rechargeable Illuminate LEDS turned up for review. Spooky or what. Having already established that the Freetrain Vests are delightfully comfortable these LED lights have been designed to attach to either the waistband or main body of the vest. However, if you are out for a stroll or walking the dog first thing they can easily be clipped to your clothes

without the vest, they can be attached to your running gear without a vest too, but they may bounce around a little depending on your clothing, I found them comfortable with or without the vest. These LEDs are super light but robust and feature a strong weather resistant casing, they are incredibly bright with up to 30 lumens and can be seen up to half a mile away. Each unit has two white and two red LEDs with four light modes to choose from, solid white, flashing white, solid red and flashing red. The healthy battery life will see you through many walks and runs, with the white LED lasting up to 8 hours when flashing, (solid for 4 hours), whilst the red LED lasts up to 10 hours when flashing (solid for 6 hours), with just two hours to fully recharge. These powerful little lights are such a great addition to my running gear, allowing you to run in any outfit whilst remaining highly visible from both the front and back, even ChristopherJones58 can’t argue with that!

Pros £19.99 Ultra-Light micro design 30-Lumen max 4 different light modes Keep yourself USB C charging port highly visible when Weather resistant housing exercising in poor 4 Bright LEDs (2 white + visibility with these 2 red) Long battery life ultra-bright LED Up to 0.5 mile visibility lights. Freetrain Therma Run Hat

This fast drying, insulated hat keeps your head and ears warm and dry on those colder runs. If you’re running in poor lighting chances are the weather will be on the colder side too, with so much heat being lost through the head a decent running hat is an important piece of gear, having achingly cold ears on those cold runs just isn’t much fun. The Therma Run Hat came in claiming to be one size fits all, something that has never worked for me, apparently, I have a small head and my favourite bobble hat was actually bought from the child’s section of the store. However, Freetrain weren’t wrong, the stretch material fits a wide range of head sizes without being restrictive on those larger heads or covering the eyes of those with small heads. Constructed from 90% polyester and 10% spandex this hat has sweat-wicking technology that helps keep you warm and dry on cold-weather runs. The quick-drying fabric retains insulating properties even if you end up taking a run in the rain whilst the thin and textured material prevents the hat from becoming too warm as you settle into your run by letting the excess heat out. The cut of the hat is lower around the ears keeping them covered, and higher at the front for a clear view and a comfortable fit. The Freetrain Therma Run Hat is the cherry on the top of a collection of great running gear from this brand, helping you to stay comfortable and focused on the run.

Asics Gel-Cumulus 22 £120

Although running events were cancelled across the country last year our running shoes still saw a lot of action, whether it was from maintaining a regular training routine or digging them out of the back of the cupboard to reconnect with the hobby. So, what better time to treat yourself to a new pair of runners than at the start of the year, new trainers are up there with clean bedsheets and warm PJs for giving you that feel good factor. The Asics Gel-Cumulus 22 have been developed for those looking for a neutral road runner with a generous amount of cushioning, I have a soft spot for the Cumulus range as they were my first pair of serious running shoes and got me through my marathon training many years ago now. These trainers come in a wide range of colours for both women’s and men’s designs with half sizes available, they have a heel drop of 10mm and weight about 264g depending on the size. Straight out of the box the Cumulus 22 are flexible and comfortable, a trait that has not been lost with this model, the fit is spot on, with plenty of cushioning around the ankle and a slim but padded tongue they are ready as soon as you are. These shoes feature FLYTEFOAM technology in the midsole which claims to be even softer than the previous version, however you may not notice a huge difference if you are simply upgrading your old Cumulus to the 22s. The heel has been redesigned to isolate impact and has deeper forefoot flex grooves and softer midsole foam for a smooth transition across the foot. The generous amount of cushioning in the heel will help to protect your joints from damage with heel striking, yes, we know this is something that good form should eliminate but so many of us do it without realising, I would always take the additional protection where possible. The upper is created from one piece of mesh, providing ample ventilation and movement for the foot, it also uses a seamless 3D print construction for improved support and eliminating friction spots on the foot. The outsole is made from a hard-wearing AHAR rubber perfect for pounding the pavements and has compound placed in key contact areas to increase the user life span. If you are looking for a reliable and comfy running shoe it’s hard to go wrong with the Gel-Cumulus 22, perfect for road running but equally well equipped for the gym or firm trails. These will take care of your feet and joints whilst you focus on your PB. For more information on the Asics Gel-Cumulus 22 click here

Pros Comfortable straight out of the box

Seamless 3D print upper FLYTEFOAM Propel cushioning technology

Wide range of colours Generous heel padding Flexible

A consistently reliable road runner ideal for those looking for a cushioned neutral shoe.

Asics Gel-Kayano 27 Where the Cumulus 22 is for neutral runners the Kayano 27 is aimed at runners with an overpronation running gait, this is not to do with your form but actually to do with the arch in your foot, people with flatter feet or highly flexible feet. This can cause the foot to land on the outside of the heel and roll inwards (pronates) excessively, shifting the weight to the inner edge of the foot instead of ball. A stability shoe like the Kayano 27 takes the pressure off the big and second toes and spreads weight more evenly across the foot. The Kayano 27 also come in a wide range of colours to cover all tastes and there is a reflective detailing around the heel for better visibility, they are best suited for road running, have a 10mm heel drop and a maximum level of cushioning. To correct that overpronation the Kayano uses DYNAMIC DUOMAX technology in the midstance, this should stop the pronating and redirect the foot for a better toe-off. The midsole also integrates SPACE TRUSSTIC technology, which provides stability whilst trying to reduce the overall weight of the shoe for a smooth experience with each step whilst the deeper forefoot flex grooves encourages that smooth roll across the whole of the front foot, not just the inside. At 309g these are a little on the heavier side which might be noticeable in the beginning if you are moving across from a lighter shoe, but after a few good runs their stability and even balance shines through. The upper provides plenty of ventilation with a light and flexible mesh, the flex grooves isolate that initial impact in the heel and the FLYTEFOAM propel technology cushioning delivers a springy release pushing you forward. If you are trying out stability trainers for the first time the Kayano 27 are a good choice due to the even combination of comfort and support easing your body into the correct form.

Supports flat footed and flexible footed runners against overpronation without compromising comfort.

Pros Breathable mesh upper DYNAMIC DUOMAX technology helps reduce pronation

Vital Baby Nurture Flexcone £99.99 Electric Breast Pump The Nurture Flexcone Electric Breast Pump from Vital Baby is a mid-range breast pump that can easily switch from electric to manual. This award-winning pump comes with Vital Baby NURTURE breast like feeding bottle 150ml, cap and collar, Vital Baby NURTURE breast like teat slow flow, silicone breast cup and Flexcone, manual breast pump conversion kit, bottle stand, bottle adapter, spare membrane, USB charge cable and plug adapter and six ultra-comfort breast pads. The compact pump measures up at 112 x 112 x 70mm with the pump attachment including bottle adapter measuring at 85 x 145 x 165mm. The Flexcone is made from a very soft silicone forming a secure but gentle seal, which cushions the breast, making it one of the most comfortable pumps in this price range. It works in two phases mimicking the baby’s natural feeding action, first to produce small and fast pulses to massage and stimulate the milk flow, then the slower and longer pulses encourage the let-down to get the milk to start flowing smoothly. The pump offers nine different speed settings in each phase, so you can find the perfect setting for you,

making the pump perfectly adaptable to suit every mum’s comfort level. The pump is controlled via the touch screen panel with intuitive buttons. It is reasonably quiet, but not silent, and can be used plugged in or via the built-in rechargeable battery, meaning you have the option to use it at home or on your travels. The manual handle also gives you another option for how and where you would like to pump. All the components are lightweight, making it easy to take out and about with you, however there is no carry case, only the box. There are lots of parts to the pump, so assembly and cleaning can be fiddly. There are definitely more portable pumps out there, however this is wonderfully comfortable; it is very gentle when expressing on both the manual and electric set up, yet still manages to produce a good flow and production. The wide range of levels and settings mean you can tailor it to your body giving you a higher chance of a successful expression. Perhaps best suited for those who are likely to pump in the same place the majority of the time.

The Crafty Robot Smartibot Kit Think of a robot and you will probably think of a human like metal character with bolts and antennas sticking out from it, well the Smartibot from Crafty Robot turns things on its head by allowing kids and adults to create their very own cardboard A.I. enabled robot. The Smartibot kit is powered by your smartphone via the Smartibot app, which is available on iOS and Android, it is also programmable with visual blocks editor and JavaScript, with the Espruino platform. It arrives with everything you need to get building, including cardboard parts to build two other robots a Teabot, who can actually bring you drinks and snacks on its little flatbed things and Unicorn which cannot bring you drinks but it is a fricken unicorn, what more do you want. Your smartphone can be attached to the robot and when used with the A.I. is can be used to chase things like your pets, husband or other robots you have knocking about. The cardboard pieces that come in the kit can be re-used time and time again or get inventive by creating your own out of bits you find in the recycling bin, building bricks like Lego. If you want inspiration check out the Projects section on Thingiverse for ideas, there are even 3D printing designs that can be downloaded. The robot will need four AA batteries for power which aren’t included, and it is recommended getting a decent set of rechargeable to keep the fun going, it is also advised that children under 14 are supervised with the robot (to avoid world domination) and it should be kept away from very young children.

Smartipresence + Fighting Robot Expansion Pack Along with the starter kit we received the Smartipresence and Fighting Robot Expansion Pack, with all the parts you need to convert the Smartibot onto a Smartipresence telepresence robot or a fighting robot with a flipper (a must have for anyone who remembers Robot Wars). The Smartipresence is a robot body that attaches to your phone, this will interact with video calls and has the ability to move around for themselves giving the person on the phone a physical (although cardboard) body. The person on the screen can move forwards and backwards, turn and look up and down, it comes with 10 hours of calls using the Smartipresence system, with additional 10-hour blocks costing £5 each. It’s a bit of a novelty but during lockdown it is the closest we can get to some people and the kids love it. The BattleBot transforms the cute Smartibot into a badass fighting robot with a powerful flipper that can turn opponent’s upside down, stickers are included in the kit to personalise the fighting bot including shark’s eyes, teeth and hazard warning markings. Get two Smartibots together and battle it out, or simply go on a rampage of destruction around the house.

These two little kits are good value for money, the Smartibot is an entertaining little bot, especially whilst we are spending more time indoors, a great choice for those interested in STEM or just want a robot slave to bring them drinks. Wacaco Nanopresso The Nanopresso is a compact and portable espresso machine which lets you produce a fresh cup of coffee no matter where you are. This small but capable device delivers your favourite coffee thanks to the patented pumping system, this can reach a maximum of 18 bars (261 PSI) of pressure during the extraction process. There are lots of different parts to the Nanopresso, which can look intimidating at first, but after a few goes it becomes second nature, all you need is hot water and your favourite espresso ground coffee. The results are a rich and tasty espresso with a dense crema layer every single time. Everything packs away inside the main unit making it great for day trips, hiking, camping and picnics. Simply unscrew the base of the unit remove the scoop, cleaning brush and water tank with cup attached to it, unscrew the portafilter and take out the coffee filter basket, scoop your coffee and

add to the coffee basket. The bottom of the scoop can be used to tamper the coffee, replace the basket and portafilter, add up to 80ml of hot water to the water tank and attach. Now for the mini workout. Unlock the piston, flip the Nanopresso upside down and get pumping, it takes 6-8 pumps to get up to pressure then a further 20-30 pumps for the extraction. The Nanopresso can be slipped in your backpack or even your pocket at just 6.14inches and 336g. The unit is lined and protected by the detachable cup, with a heatsink pattern that prevents the outside from becoming hot to the touch. Everything comes apart easily for cleaning when you get back from your adventure ready for the next one. We were really impressed with the quality of the espresso produced by this little machine, no electricity needed, a must have for those coffee addicts with a sense of adventure.

Wacaco Octaroma Lungo My friend who has recently had a baby found amongst all the many essential baby shower gifts she received, one of the most useful products she had at her disposal was a thermal mug. It is a well-known complaint that new parents never get to finish a hot brew, but with the right equipment anything is possible. The Wacaco Octaroma Lungo is a 300ml (10fl oz) coffee mug, if we break down the name the ‘Octaroma’ represents the eight-sided design, that provides a better grip along with the textured finish of the outer wall, whilst the Lungo means long, a measurement of coffee size. This sleek mug comes in five colours, Amber Yellow, Cadet Blue, Carmine Red, Dim Grey and the Pomona Green that we received, they all measure up at 3.18” x 5.90” (81 mm x 150 mm) and weigh 0.5 lb (235g) when empty. This cup is compatible with Pipamoka and Cuppamoka makers as well as 3rd party coffee makers (including instant coffee, tea

and cold drinks if you are that way inclined, we don’t judge). The Octaroma Lungo is a vacuum insulated mug that not only keeps your drink hot or cold but also preserves all the aromas for a full drinking experience, the double-wall stainless steel construction means the cup is comfortable to handle on the outside even with a piping hot drink on the inside. The leak-proof lid uses a soft and flexible cap that can easily be opened and twisted out of the way, it can even be done with one hand if the cup is placed on a surface, the thin lip design makes for a comfortable drinking experience and helps to prevent small spillages when the lid is open. As well as allowing new parents to finish a warm drink the Octaroma is suitable for the office or outdoor adventures, it fits in most car cup holders allowing you to enjoy your drink wherever you go.

PowerBlock Pro EXP Dumbbells My name is Tim May and I have been a Fitness Pro for 25 years. A former minor league hockey player, sports and fitness has been a part of almost my entire 47 years on this planet. I received a degree in Kinesiology in 1995, and became a certified personal trainer in 1998. My experience with fitness equipment is vast. Back in the mid 80’s I used a thigh master. Yes, it’s true, I used it to help me with my hockey workouts. And no, I didn’t buy it. I used Mom’s. I ordered PowerBlock dumbbells recently so I could complete my home gym. I bought PRO EXP dumbbells, allowing me to lift weights from 5 pounds up to 90 pounds. I also got a stand to put the dumbbells on and a bench enabling me to perform many exercises. The day they arrived: I was super excited to see 6 boxes with the PowerBlock logo sitting on my doorstep. I started with the dumbbells. They came in 4 boxes. Two boxes held the base set (50 pounds), and two boxes had the expansion kits, allowing the dumbbells to go up to 90 pounds. I was impressed with how easy it was to assemble the dumbbells. Essentially, all I had to was peel off some wrapping and they were ready to rock. Another box held the travel bench. This was also super simple to assemble, I only had to place some locking pins and the bench was set. The last box was the dumbbell stand. This required a tool, a Philips screwdriver. I have about 13 of them laying around, so I located one and

followed the instructions. 18 screws, a handful of stickers, and 10 to 15 minutes later, boom, my stand was sturdy, held my dumbbells and I was ready to lift some weights. Adjusting the weights: This was simple, only took a couple of seconds. You pull out the fork like thingy (I am sure it has an actual term but that’s what I call it) and slide it into the desired weight slot. The weight increments are color coded, very easy to locate, and they go up by 10 pounds. But, a really cool feature is the ability to take in and out these little cylinders. Each dumbbell has two of them and they weight 2.5 pounds, so 5 pounds per dumbbell. What this means: You can go up or down 5 pound increments but simply pushing a lever to one side, allowing you to place in and out those 2.5 cylinders. That process does take about 30 seconds, but I typically rest 30 to 45 seconds between sets so this actually made my workout seem to go faster. My overall opinion: I am super stoked that I bought this product. I have 5 pound to 90 pound dumbbells that take up very little space. I did some math, a subject that is not my strong suit, and my dumbbells are the equivalent of 18 pairs. And those 18 pairs total 850 pounds of weights, which would require a lot of space and cost a couple of thousand dollars. With my PowerBlocks, I am set for life!

Vax Platinum SmartWash Carpet Cleaner Hoovering your carpets will only get them so clean, it is like only brushing the crumbs off the kitchen counter and never wiping it down, you will be amazed by how much dirty water will come out of a seemingly clean carpet. The Platinum SmartWash Carpet Cleaner is Vax's best ever carpet washer and will kill over 99% of bacteria, it uses the next generation motion sense technology and comes with a range of attachments. Along with the SmartWash you get a 250ml spray bottle of Pre-Treatment Solution, two bottles of 250ml Platinum Solution, 2.5m Hose, SpinScrub Tool, 2 in 1 Antimicrobial Wash Tool and Accessory bag. Unlike some carpet washers which involve holding a trigger down to wash and releasing to dry, the motion sense technology does everything automatically, simply push forward to wash and pull back to dry. The FLEXFORCE Brushbars have flexible bristles which distribute the cleaning solution and water deep into the carpet fibres whilst agitating and lifting dirt and stains ready to be sucked up on the dry cycle. The Dry Only Mode will leave carpets dry in as little as one hour, the hose and SpinScrub tool can be used to tackle the stairs, sofa, car or spot clean stains with the 9m cord making it easy to get into tight spots. Antimicrobial treatment protects the brush bar from the growth of bacteria and fungi, the brush bars can also be lifted out with minimal complication for cleaning and removing tangled up hair. The Auto Mix provides the correct combination of solution and water without measuring, the cleaning tank offers 3.5L with the dirty tank delivering 1.9L which will need emptying out more regularly. The solution tank can be fully removed from the SmartWash in rinse mode when you just want water. The SmartWash is easy to manoeuvre around the house, it is a bit heavy at 7.4kg but glides about without too much effort, if your pets are scared of the vacuum cleaner, they will think this is the end of days, it certainly isn’t quiet. The noise is worth it for how lovely and clean the carpets come up, they are left smelling fresh, they are a little damp afterwards but after a few hours they were fully dry. If you have pets or your carpets see a lot of traffic with shoes on it could well be worth the investment. The SpinScrub was handy for the stairs as well as sofas and foot stools. However, it is worth bearing in mind it takes up quite a bit of space for something you probably won’t be using weekly. If you only have a few rugs you might be better off convincing your parents they need one and borrowing it a few times a year for a freshen up, the product pays for itself after four uses when compared to renting.

Give your rugs, carpets and upholstery a deep and thorough clean.

Kinderkraft Stroller GRANDE 2020 One of the biggest expenses when preparing for the arrival of a baby can be the travel system, if only these little humans came out with the ability to walk like most other mammals, however there are some more reasonably price strollers out there. The Kinderkraft Stroller GRANDE 2020 is a reasonably priced stroller that comes in Black, Grey and Burgundy, it is suitable from new-born up to 15kg. One of the first things we noticed is how compact it is, and it arrives pretty much fully assembled, just pop on the wheels and it’s ready to go, when folded it measures at 83L x 57W x 27H cm, when unfolded its 95L x 100H x 57W cm, with a gap between the rear wheels measuring at 57cm. The wide seat is 34cm wide and 21cm deep with a max backrest height at 47cm. The GRANDE 2020 uses large puncture proof rubber wheels, (front 17 cm, rear 25 cm), they are abrasion-resistant and lighter than pneumatic wheels. There is a four-wheel suspension system which makes things smoother over more bumpy terrain and mounting curbs, however it is best suited for urban terrains, if you are regularly off roading air filled tyres and a more robust frame would be better. Most of the features are made from plastic, the brake pedal, folding button and cup holder for example which isn’t necessarily an issue, but it doesn’t feel like the toughest of plastics, it is clear that you are saving money in these areas. On the flip side it does make the stroller fairly light weighing in at 9.9kg and easy to manoeuvre, it handles

tight spaces and corners very well. The adjustable backrest can be lowered to lying position and you can pick the perfect angle anywhere on the strap to stop. When the seat is in the lay flat position there is still a little dip at the bottom and slight raise by the legs, equally when it is raised into fully upright position it is still fairly reclined, this means the straps will have to be loosened and little one will have to hold themselves up to look around. The two-action unlocking system can be used with one hand and the stroller will easily pop up or fold down smoothly, however we found this button would stick now and then, resulting in two hands being used to get it to press in. The brake pedal needs a firm kick to lock the wheels in place, if you are too gentle the brake can pop back up again so it’s always worth double checking it is properly locked. The GRANDE 2020 also includes a 2kg cargo basket, a 5-point safety belt, 4-position adjustable footrest, cup holder, rain cover and foot muffler, the generous hood can be extended further by unzipping the fastening, there is a mesh window that can be locked up for continuous view and a zip up pocket to keep your phone or purse close to hand. This stroller left us a little conflicted, it very much comes down to priorities, the build quality let it down in places like the sticking fold down button and brake, not being completely upright or completely flat. However, its low cost, smooth handling, compact fold down and lightweight leaves plenty to like, and a good choice for occasional use and urban strolling.

Upright Go 2

With so many people working at desks all day it is easy to pick up some pretty poor posture habits. As many people are now working from home the office furniture may have become a dining table, worktop or sofa, all of which are not suitable for an 8hour workday. Bad posture won’t just get you told off by your mum but will also have an adverse effect on your body causing strain on your back and neck which can develop into long term pain over time. The Upright Go 2 aims to correct this by constantly monitoring your posture and retrain both your muscles and brain to hold you in the correct posture. This comes in the form of an App, personalised training plan based on your age, weight and back pain and the Upright Go 2 unit which is a 48 x 28 x 8.6mm sensor that attaches directly to your skin via a medical grade adhesive sticker. There are ten stickers included in the pack and they last around 3-10 days depending on your skin type. A single charge will provide 30hours of battery life whilst the lightweight design means you can easily forget you are wearing it, that is until you start slouching. When the six precision enhanced sensors in the GO 2 detects incorrect posture, it will vibrate to remind you to straighten up, the intensity of this vibration can be adjusted from a gentle reminder to a brisk telling off. This stage is the Training mode, after this comes the Tracking mode which switches off the reminders but continues to track your posture, you can then review your achievements at the end of the day via the app. The app is easy to navigate, you can set daily training sessions that last between 10-15minutes, view your posture statistics, goals, improvements and more. You will probably find your muscles ache to begin with as they are simply not used to holding the correct position, but this lessens with time as your muscles become stronger and the position becomes more natural. The tracking and detecting proved to be reliable the majority of the time, and certainly will let you know when to straighten up, it is discreet and easy to use. There is a little room for improvement when it comes to the cost of the device, if it was waterproof you could forget about it in the shower, rain or even a sweaty workout, a few additional functions would be nice too for example reminders to move, get up, or stretch maybe beneficial. Upright Necklace The Upright Necklace gives you an alternative way to wear the Upright Go 2 without sticking it directly to your skin, it comes in six colours and is made from a high-grade medical silicone with a strong magnetic closure for a secure hold but fast removal. The Upright Go 2 then connects to the necklace via the USB C port which rests on the back in a similar position to where it would be stuck with the adhesive. The necklace is handy if you need to be able to remove the device quickly or you choose to only wear it for short periods of time, on walks for instance, however we found the adhesives more comfortable for longer periods and more accurate.

Pros 30 hours of battery life From Six precision enhanced sensors $99.95 Training and Tracking mode Comfortable and discreet to wear Effective coaching Real-time posture feedback and tracking Cons Limited features for the price Not waterproof If you suffer with back or neck pain (particularly after a long day at work) or simply want to ensure you avoid it in the future this little device will straighten you out.
