What’s Happening
Ballroom Dance Club
The Ballroom Dance Club held their very first night of lessons on May 20th with both the beginner and more advanced groups well attended. Wayne Zwick has demonstrated why it pays to have an experienced instructor and he provided great advice while sprinkling it with a touch of humor. Comments received from a couple of our male dancers at both levels were as follows:
“I had a breakthrough understanding of how my feet initiate movement similar to when I played hockey.” “Loved it. I have never had a male instructor so it was awesome to get tips from the male point of view in terms of leading, without forcing. Excited for the next session.”

Private lessons are also available and on Thursdays, Wayne provides group lessons at a rate of $70. The lesson can be shared among 2 couples or 2 singles or 1 single and 1 couple and BASED ON ROOM AVAILABILITY. Laurie Schussler will submit a room request, so please try to allow for 5 days’ notice. We enjoy being able to socialize as well as dance on a spacious dance floor. If you are interested, please contact Laurie Schussler at schusslers@gmail.com or Wendy O’Hanlon at golfgirl2011@att.net.
Our club will currently meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month for lessons in the Lanier Room. The beginner group is currently 6-7pm followed by a half hour practice session and the more advanced group begins their one-hour lesson at 7:30pm. Payment is made directly to Wayne at a cost of $10 per person for an 8-lesson package. There is a grace period of a couple weeks for a 10-week time frame to allow for vacations, etc. Eight (8) weeks for a single is $80 and $160 for a couple. If anyone chooses to attend all 10 lessons in that allotted time, they will need to pay an additional fee of $10 pp per class. Our current lesson package started May 20th and will conclude September 30th. (Slight adjustments in the schedule are at the discretion of the instructor and the club board). Wayne began teaching swing and Rhumba, but the group is welcome to have input on their choice of Ballroom instruction. The 2nd Thursday of the month is FREE with video followed by 1 hour practice for all levels of dancers.
Bocce Ball
By Steve Remsen
We have been playing bocce ball almost every Tuesday evening and it has been nice to see some new residents that have not played before. It does not take much time to show you how to play. The best news is that we have some new score boards. They were made by a Cresswind resident and what a great job he did! Take a walk when you have time and view the new score boards behind the Clubhouse. Page 32
