welcome to

For generations, Green Lake has had the reputation of being one of the Midwest’s best-kept secrets. With a beautiful shoreline and boasting Wisconsin’s deepest natural inland lake, Green Lake is only hours from home, but seems worlds away. Whether you decide to experience our world-class fishing year-round, go swimming in the clean spring-fed water, or rent a boat for a party on the lake, there’s plenty to do during the season to keep any visitor busy on the water. Off the water, trails wind throughout the Green Lake area, where you can look forward to connecting with nature on foot or by bike; wonderful concerts hosted almost every week in a historic opera house; and restaurants for every taste and budget. Green Lake is always busy with events. Attend our summer concert series on Wednesday nights, the best little fair around, the statewide Chili Cookoff contest, and everyone’s favorite fall festival: Harvest Fest. Weekly farmers markets and unique classes and dining events are a part of what makes Green Lake so special, so be sure not to miss out on our one-of-a-kind local flavors. With so much to see and do, coming to Green Lake is an experience like no other. For more information about what’s happening in the area, please check out our website at visitgreenlake.com. We are always happy to help plan your next trip to the lake!

GOLFING: choose where to play THE GOLF COURSES OF LAWSONIA

TUSCUMBIA COUNTRY CLUB

Located on the beautiful, historic grounds of Green Lake Conference Center, Lawsonia offers 36 championship holes. The Links has a wide-open Scottish look and feel with rolling fairways featuring large fairway bunkers and huge elevated greens. The Woodlands is carved out of the thick forest that borders Green Lake, featuring tree-lined fairways along with severe elevation drops.

A log clubhouse with a large rustic fireplace and charming décor accommodates outing arrangements, dinner parties, banquets, and meetings. Other amenities include motorized carts, 9th-hole snack shop, driving range, practice green, fully stocked pro shop, club repairs, and storage and locker rooms.

Voted 2008 Wisconsin Golf Course of the Year, ranked #2 public course in State “Links” by Golfweek, and consistently ranked in the top 100 golf courses in the country, Lawsonia is one of Wisconsin’s best golf destinations.

Langford’s Pub is open daily at 6:00 a.m. for breakfast, lunch, and appetizers. Stop by for the famous Friday Night Fish Fry. Langford’s is open through September. The clubhouse has men and women’s golf apparel and offers club fitting, bag storage, and personal or group lessons. All golf carts have a Laser Link.

MASCOUTIN GOLF CLUB

Located just south of Berlin, Larry Packard carved out a magnificent 18-hole golf course through century-old trees in 1975. Giant undulating greens test your putting, sand traps galore wait to swallow an errant shot, and water hazards come into play on the final four holes. With bent-grass fairways and superb conditioning, the layout appeals to golfers of all abilities. In 1999, Mascoutin opened a new mystifying nine, designed by Rick Jacobson. The “Blue” nine features waste bunkering, elevation changes, forced natural hazard carries, river views, water hazards, and a “cliff” hole, making it a spectacular golfing experience. With a championship practice facility and 27 holes of championship golf, Mascoutin is “Wisconsin’s Best Kept Secret,” located six miles north of Green Lake. Come on out to Mascoutin and play where the championships are played!

Tuscumbia is the oldest golf course in Wisconsin, bearing the slogan “Where History Lingers on Every Green.” Tuscumbia’s public 18-hole, 6,301-yard, par-71 layout is one of the best manicured courses in the state. Tuscumbia provides a park-like setting of majestic evergreens and century-old hardwoods, thick rough, tight fairways, and a rolling landscape.

Tuscumbia promises to be one of the most memorable rounds you’ll ever play, whether you’re a novice or seasoned professional.

SONDALLES WHITE LAKE GOLF

This challenging 18-hole golf course is carved out of ancient glacier-formed land with an unusual western style apparent by exquisite, natural landscaping and hilltop scenic views of rolling terrain, vast woods, sloped greens, free-roaming peacocks, and spring-fed ponds. The par-72 layout sprawls over 200+ acres of natural paradise and encompasses two separate circles of nine holes, which provide significant elevation changes. The course’s newest nine has more than a dozen pond barriers, traps, trees, and wooded areas. The 15th hole has a trap-protected dogleg left, fairway pond, and a treeburied green. Clubhouse amenities include a pro shop, practice green, bar, and sandwich shop. Just minutes from Green Lake, between Montello and Princeton, off Highway 23.

In nearby Ripon, your family can enjoy a rustic Texas-inspired, fingerlicking-good BBQ; artisan paninis and sandwiches; alongside a thirst-quenching local craft brew and even more of the area’s best pizza. The area’s four golf courses all offer tasty meals at their restaurants. It’s ideal when you come off the greens of one of the finest golf courses in the state to take the family and friends out for a Wisconsin classic: Friday Night Fish Fry. There’s one last stop for any family… ICE CREAM! Whether you choose one flavor or two, sugar or cake cone, chocolate or vanilla, there is no better way to wrap up a tasty dinner or reflect on your vacation than enjoying a scoop (or three) while overlooking beautiful Green Lake.

Beginning in the early 18th century, Amish settlers began immigrating to the United States. One of the Amish communities can be found in southern Green Lake and Marquette counties. The settlements found here are Old Order Amish, with no tractors in the fields, no telephones, and small one-room schoolhouses. There are many small Amish businesses in the Green Lake area, as well as businesses supporting the Amish heritage. They are mostly located in the Dalton and Kingston communities, and specialize in products that reflect their heritage—like woodworking, baking, cheesemaking, and greenhouses. Shopping in the Green Lake area provides you the opportunity to delight in finding unique, one-of-a-kind items at any of our shopping destinations. Don’t leave empty-handed!

The trail is built on the side of a hill, and winds through hard woods and tall prairie grasses. The trail is open to fat-tire cycling during the winter. Off-road

Open May through October, Larson’s Famous Clydesdales is quite the place to spend an afternoon! A short drive from Green Lake, it's one of the only places where visitors can see famous Clydesdales up close and personal. Enjoy a guided tour and grandstand show, and don’t forget to take pictures of a rare baby Clydesdale. A birdwatching paradise awaits you. Start your day early, and

discover the sights and sounds of Green Lake’s birds. Be sure to bring your binoculars for better views as Sunnyside Conservancy, Snake Creek Wetlands, Hattie Sherwood Park, Mill Pond, White River Marsh State Wildlife Area, and the Green Lake Conference Center offer some of the best spots for bird enthusiasts. There are plenty of options for fun during the Wisconsin winters, you just need to know where to go to get it! For those looking to explore the countryside with the power of an engine, snowmobiling in Green Lake County is a great way to take in the scenery. There are miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the Green Lake area, and rentals are available. If you prefer to keep your boots on the ground, head to Zobel Park for an exhilarating ride down the hill on a sled or tube. This gentle rolling hill draws the young (and young at heart) for a bit of exercise and excitement.
