COMPANY PROFILE: UN*TIED

Help Women and Men Navigate the Devastating Process of Divorce What made both of you get into this business? Sheri had wanted to do something to help women and men navigate the devastating process of divorce for sometime but couldn’t find the right person to partner with. When she read a cryptic Facebook post from Amy, a friend she had known since their children were in pre-school together, she reached out to re-connect. After talking at great length about the incredible challenges and demands of going through a divorce, they knew if there was someone to have held their hand and guide them through the most difficult time of their lives by helping them uncover all the things they did not know, it would have made such a difference in the emotional and financial outcomes of their divorces. What background did you have that qualified this decision? Both Amy and Sheri had long-term marriages (24 and 18 years respectively) and during their lengthy divorces with many entanglements, it was deemed necessary to put a team of experts together to represent each of them in the process. Knowledge is power and they knew they needed to help other people navigate through a separation or divorce. What did both of you do prior to launching this business? un*tied is Amy’s second business. Her first baby is an event, marketing and publicity firm called EMP Management specializing in non-profit events, sponsorship procurement and fundraising. Sheri co-owned a full service advertising agency for more than a decade. She negotiated with local/national media groups all the while learning from numerous diverse digital platforms that presented never ending changing technology. How do you give someone “Your Best New Life?” There are no two situations that are exactly alike and Amy and Sheri’s primary objective is to share knowledge and empower their clients to set goals and benchmarks and help them achieve those goals. The complexity of making monumental life altering decisions can literally drop you to your knees. Initially, most people either considering separation or divorce or are in the process are faced with fear of the unknown and are confused about the process so organization and information is key. What financial suggestions do you give to your clients? Amy and Sheri want their clients to be fully prepared for their negotiations and future divorce settlements with as much financial

knowledge of their situation as possible. A comprehensive and methodical financial checklist provides them a guide to collect all of the key information necessary to paint their financial picture and get a clear understanding of what’s at stake. This will ultimately help clients save time and money as well as be organized and ready for when they meet with their attorneys. What steps do you take to get people back on the right track? Amy and Sheri understand that divorce is like a death and there is a grieving process with many layers. They want their clients to know that during these dark and challenging times taking care of their health and well-being is essential to leading them to happier times and a bright light at the end of this difficult journey. Are most of your clients female or male? un*tied’s current client base is predominantly female and Amy and Sheri have recently worked with men as well. Gender doesn’t play a role in the complexity of an inevitable separation or divorce. Where do you hope to see this business in five years? Amy and Sheri see un*tied thriving with clients and providing the necessary support to their affiliates within their A-Z concierge services. They envision putting their expertise into action by expanding their business model to other major markets as well as creating support groups, conferences, retreats and speaking engagements.
