Community Gardens Bloom in Essex County Community Gardens are sources of food and friendship. They also cultivate connection. Neighbors get together to plant, learn from one another, compare progress and sometimes share their harvest. This spring Essex County is adding two new community gardens. • Riker Hill Art Park in Livingston will be home to one of Essex County’s newest community gardens. Spring will be the first organic growing season for the new gardeners. For more information call: Essex County Environmental Center, 973-228-8776. • The mission of the Verona Community Garden is to provide sustainable gardening opportunities for the physical and social benefit of the people of Verona through the cultivation and maintenance of a common green space. The garden is located behind H.B. Whitehorne Middle School. Find out more: www.veronanj.org/communitygarden • The West Caldwell Environmental Commission Community Garden is located on the grounds of the Crane House at 289 Westville Avenue.
