ith people spending more time at home now than ever before, the desire to expand one’s living spaces is in high demand. Andrew Braverman, a builder with over 18 years of experience in the state of NJ and president of KMF Companies, a boutique luxury builder, has seen a heightened interest in pools and patios. “One of the things we found with COVID is that people are putting more of an investment into their homes,” he says. “Because they’re spending more time there, they want to enjoy the various aspects of it, and want to get as much year-round use as possible.” For luxury patio areas, almost all are being done with blue stone, and have at least one fire pit and a covered area. Outdoor lounges, with a kitchen and bar featuring multiple televisions, are also highly sought after. For luxury pools, the most popular are Hampton-style rectangular pools with sun shelves and automatic covers, which keep warmth in and also add an element of safety.
