a d n i LLarkin STORY BY KAYLA BERTUCCI
If Linda Larkin had to choose a spirit animal, it would only make sense that she chooses the lark. A bird known for its joy and laughter, as well as honesty and humility, fit perfectly into the description of the type of woman Linda is to her community. As Marketing Director for Patriot Title for the past ten years, Linda says she was made for this type of career. “I would best describe my work life as fun. I love title life. It’s definitely a 24/7 job, but I love being on the move, being creative, and most of all I love people,” described Linda. Though she was Minnesota-born, Linda has called Slidell home almost her entire life. Family is what she considers a top priority, and she leaves plenty of time to dote on her niece and two nephews. Whether it’s a school activity, sporting event, or extracurricular activity, you can count on Linda to be front and center.

“We also love hitting garage sales on the weekends,” joked Linda. “That’s funny, right? But that’s our special time together.”
In Partnership with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Aquatic Volunteer Instructor Program
What Linda the lark is most known for, no doubt, is her contribution to society. She’s the past President and Founder of the Emerging Young Professionals (EYP), a past Board and Executive Member of the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce and was a proud Ambassador and Events Committee member for East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce. She was also a St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board Member, Ambassador Committee Member and Chair, a Northshore Area Board of Realtors member, a life member of the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell, and a Professional Women of St. Tammany member just to name a few. Her love of serving others presses on through the challenging times in life. Linda shared that just a few years ago, she lost her love of fourteen years to cancer. “I could feel sorry for myself, but instead I decided to keep going", Linda encouraged. “I like to tell people to love what you do and work hard. Always smile, be kind, and just be a friend. Life is a blessing, and I am so blessed to have such a beautiful life.” So now you know, the songbird that keeps singing through her joyous dedication to her community can be found in the heart of Slidell. If you listen for her, you just might pick up on her positive, infectious tune!

MARRIAGE... STORY BY LIESEL SCHMIDT
There’s a certain order to things: Boy meets girl, they date, they fall in love, boy asks girl to marry him, girl says yes… and while Elizabeth Nader and Randy Tumminello may have followed said order for the most part, Randy may have jumped ahead just a little on that last part. MAY 2022

fter meeting through mutual friends in the summer of 2019, Randy and Elizabeth began dating; and over the next year and a half, they realized that they wanted more. As Christmas of 2020 descended, Randy took the opportunity to seize the festivity of the season to make his move by hanging a “We’re Engaged!” ornament on the Christmas tree. “He was just waiting for me to notice,” recalls Elizabeth with a laugh. “Once I did, he got down on one knee, and all our family and friends came out from hiding to surprise me!” Nearly a year later, on October 16, 2021, Elizabeth dressed in a fit-and-flare gown with buttons all the way down the back to walk down the aisle at Our Lady of the Lake in Mandeville. As 280 of their closest friends and relatives watched, the couple exchanged vows and were pronounced married. First kisses exchanged, the newlyweds joined their guests for a reception Taking a break from dancing to indulge in cake, the newly married at the Greystone, where they dined on a buffet-style meal of local Tumminellos cut into a four-tier masterpiece with layers of white cake Louisiana cuisine, complete with a carving station and a pasta station. and chocolate cake, both with raspberry filling. In homage to Randy’s favorite team, the groom’s cake was an LSU-inspired king cake. Cake Naturally, there was dancing—and oh, how they danced. “I just remember eaten and the last dance danced, the happy couple was sent off to start the dance floor being packed! Everyone danced the entire time,” recalls their honeymoon at the Sandals Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. Now Elizabeth, who works as a dental assistant, while Randy serves as a back at home, the Tumminellos have begun their life together, looking fireman. “I think something that made it a really memorable wedding forward to putting more ornaments on their tree together, and making was that everyone was dancing so much and cutting up with the band. all the memories that come with them. I’ve never experienced a wedding so full of life, and it was so much fun!”

ore than just a Realtor, Kelly Waltemath-Wall immerses herself in the entire process of real estate, from development and construction to sales and purchasing. The daughter of developer David L. Waltemath, she graduated LSU in 2014 and immediately got her real estate license. “Real estate is not a job to me,” she says. “It’s my passion. It’s in my DNA. Real estate is who I am and who I want to become.”
Her inherent drive to achieve, along with her product knowledge and experience, has made her a top agent and a Keller Williams Regional Top Ten Producer among 4,400 Realtors. Additionally, Waltemath-Wall was ranked the number one Regional Producer in January 2022 and featured as Biz Magazine’s Women to Watch in 2021. As the leader of The Kelly Waltemath Group, she is licensed with Keller Williams Realty Services in Mandeville and also serves as a Custom Home and Builder Specialist in various communities within the operations of the Waltemath family developments as well as with third party communities. As passionate about real estate as Waltemath-Wall may be, it is her clients that most drive her success. “At the end of the day, seeing people smile, laugh, and create memories because I helped them with one of the biggest decisions in their lives is the most rewarding feeling to me,” she says. Representing all areas of residential real estate, Waltemath-Wall’s primary focus is on resale listings, builder/community representation, and new construction sales. “My family background has greatly influenced my rapidly growing business today,” she notes. “I specialize in helping sellers sell their homes and helping buyers build their homes. This often involves picking a home site, designing a floor plan, and choosing a builder. It’s so much fun taking my clients from their vision on paper to the reality of seeing their finished home!” Kelly recently married Chris Wall and has just moved into her own new custom home.

oing above and beyond the call of duty, Realtor Kerri Lawless has built a reputation for herself in the industry, taking a spot among the top two percent of all agents in the greater New Orleans and Northshore Areas. A multi-year NABOR Platinum Award winner and the recipient of the NABOR Lifetime Achievement Award, Lawless’s accolades were the product of her commitment to staging homes impeccably and positioning them as a top tier product capable of garnering the highest return for her clients. A Realtor for the past eight years, Lawless's entrance to the industry was the result of her search for a career that would allow her to use her experience in design & decorating as well as her extensive background in business and sales. “Real estate gave me the avenue to use my passion for creating stunning interiors through staging to maximize the purchase price and therefore the return my clients receive on their real estate investment,” she says. “I was encouraged for years by friends who felt strongly that real estate was a perfect fit for me because of my background in faux painting and decorating combined with my knowledge of business and love of people. I took their advice, and I’ve been non-stop ever since!” As accomplished as she is, Lawless measures her success by client satisfaction. “As a trusted advisor to my clients, my gratification comes from maximizing their equity when they buy and extracting the maximum profit as they sell.”

currently has more than $6 million of properties for sale or pending in addition to over $5.7 million of listings hitting the market in the coming weeks.
fter investing in real estate in the Warehouse District of New Orleans and Pensacola Beach, Florida throughout the early 2000s, Vince Liuzza saw the value in acquiring his real estate license, becoming a Realtor in 2004. Transitioning full-time to the industry and launching a successful career over the next decade, he later founded Liuzza Realty Group in 2016.
Naturally, Liuzza takes pride in the fact that his company continues to attract a diverse group of realtors who are allowed to market their personal brand over that of the company, which he says “puts Liuzza Realty Group agents in the forefront of this national trend.”
Bestowing extensive experience in management and investment upon his clients, Liuzza and his company represent clients across all price points, though The Sanctuary is his niche. “Over the 16 years I lived in the neighborhood, I developed an acute knowledge of the phases and trends and built life-long relationships with fellow residents.”
In helping his clients find their dream homes, Liuzza sees the critical need for constant communication and the ability to listen. “Whether it is buying, selling, or both, the process begins with listening to what their goals are, then developing and implementing a methodical plan,” he says. “Communication is fundamental to the process, especially in today’s challenging market.”
It is these relationships that helped the Liuzza Realty Group solidify their position as the leading broker in The Sanctuary in 2021 as they represented the buyers and sellers of $16.9 million in home and homesites. Year to date, Liuzza has sold over $5.6 million in homes and

fter dabbling in real estate as an assistant and transaction coordinator more than 20 years ago, it wasn’t until Michelle Fadely moved to Louisiana that she truly began to pursue real estate as a career. “Going to beauty school and owning a salon, then into raising kids and moving all around with my husband, who is active-duty military, it just wasn’t something that I felt I could stick with,” she explains. “When we landed here in Louisiana knowing this would be our final move, I was able to get back doing what I originally loved, and that was real estate.”
Now a licensed Realtor with ENGEL & VÖLKERS Slidell/Mandeville, Fadely’s passion has taken her to being a top 20 real estate advisor with her brokerage. As a military spouse, she brings a special knowledge to the table and is a certified Military Relocation Professional. “I specialize in helping military members and their families buy and sell and make their PCS process as stress-free as possible,”
she says. “Most of my clients are military members. As a military spouse with many moves under my belt, I know how stressful picking up and moving can be. I understand the struggles my clients are going through. I also teach classes on using the VA loan and work to dispel myths regarding the VA loan process.” Over the past four years of her career, Fadely’s love of her work has only deepened. “Helping people find a home or sell their home in order to move on to their next chapter is an incredible thing,” she says. “I love getting to share in their excitement, and I love the challenges and constantly learning something new. Every day is different.”

hen Natasha Buckholtz received her real estate license in March of 2020, the world was just being plunged into a pandemic that it could never have seen coming. Still, she forged ahead, building a successful career and becoming one of the top 20 percent at Keller Williams Gulf States Region. A military wife herself, Buckholtz has used her own experience to help her military clients and is also a certified military relocation professional. It is her passion that has led to her great accomplishments, and her clients benefit from that passion. “I believe in building relationships, not just building clientele,” she says. “I want to get to know you so that I can better serve you. My success is measured by lives changed, by being a better human. I like to bring something of value into the lives of others.” It is that desire, in fact, that led her to the real estate industry. “I love helping others achieve their dreams,” Buckholtz says. “Being a Realtor allows me to build
relationships and futures. I especially enjoy being a positive part of someone’s journey in personal growth through home ownership.” With a background in marketing, it’s small wonder that Buckholtz cites P.T. Barnum as an influence in her career: “He was known as the ‘Shakespeare of Advertising’ for his innovative and impressive ideas,” she says. “In a world full of noise, I look for ways to stand out and be as valuable to others as they are to me. As Barnum said, ‘No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.’ My joy in life is helping others grow and discover greater happiness. Barnum was also quoted to say, ‘Whatever you do, do it with all of your might.’ That is what I bring to my clients.”

I entered real estate over a year ago knowing that it would give me the opportunity to apply all of my personal and professional experiences. I see real estate as a way to help make people's dreams come true.”

Story By Liesel Schmidt Photography By Jen Meadows
W
hen Jennifer Johnson closed Galloway’s Studio of Dance & Performing Arts to launch her career in real estate and build on her 23year background as a business owner, she knew the hard work and sacrifice it would take to be successful. Nearly three years in, she has been named as one of the 500 Top Producing Realtors in the New Orleans Metro Area, selling over $5 million in her first year of business and over $8 million during her second. While her numbers are certainly something to be proud of, it is working with her clients that is the most rewarding. “I truly care about people,” says Johnson, a Realtor with the Kevin Savoie Real Estate Group. “I love getting to know them and understand how important this step in their life is, so I pay close attention to detail. Communication is the key. I also love being out in the field and spending time with my clients. I really enjoy our time together and making them feel comfortable with one of the biggest decisions of their life.”
More than this, Johnson also hopes to inspire young women to pursue their goals. “I hope to show young women that they don’t have to select only one career path,” she says. “Do what you love, but if your passion drives you to have several careers and dreams, go after them all! It’s possible.”

SAUCIER Story By Liesel Schmidt // Photography By Jen Meadows
H
aving spent the last 40 years in some aspect of the real estate industry, Mike Saucier began his extensive career as the Vice President of Development for a regional real estate company based in the Southeast US, overseeing award-winning developments that greatly improved these communities. Saucier decided to launch his own company in 1994, building on the expertise and experience he had gained as well as his educational background in construction and civil engineering. Passionately pursuing commercial real estate development, Saucier has made a name for himself over the past decades throughout the Gulf Coast including projects in Texas, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, & Louisiana.
As president of Gulf State Real Estate Services of Alabama and Louisiana, Saucier currently oversees a great number of projects that have positively changed the landscape of those communities as well—and these projects come with a great many challenges. “Knowing how to ‘get out of the ground’ is essential along the Gulf South, as there are a number of substantial varying soil conditions, and often wetland considerations” he says. “Predicting vertical building cost is fairly straightforward; however, getting out of the ground can quickly make or break the project’s budget and schedule. What makes me different from other Real Estate professionals is being blessed with my vast experience in dealing with people and all types of projects. I have learned to listen to what they want, and, fortunately, Gulf State has the depth of resources to satisfy most everyone's needs—large and small.” Having been interested in construction from an early age, Saucier first started his business purely as a project management firm, later acquiring his broker’s license and adding competent agents because he saw the wisdom in broadening his resources. Decades later, he’s still every bit as invested. “Visioning, and watching projects come out of the ground while being able to see people’s dreams realized is very rewarding.” The company thesis captures this belief – Turning Ideas into Reality.

An advocate looking out for you and only you. Professional REALTORS® are part
of an association to keep a pulse on the everchanging rules and regulations governing property sales, which can directly affect the market. Remember, this is a legal transaction with a lot of moving parts. You need someone who fully understands the entire process and brings expertise to the transaction. Select a REALTOR® that understands your needs and puts your interests at the forefront. Make sure to work with a REALTOR® that has good relationships with others associated with the transaction– this means expert recommendations on professionals to help you navigate any unforeseen issues.
Get the inside scoop. Your REALTOR®’s
It Makes A Difference: Why Work with A REALTOR® The state’s real estate market has been fast-paced and competitive, primarily because the available inventory is low. Whether you are dealing in residential or commercial, especially in this climate, real estate transactions are time-consuming and complicated. Is it worth your time and money to hire someone who has kept up with industry changes inside and out and is engaged in the business full time? Definitely! A REALTOR® who is knowledgeable and professional will save you time and money. Real estate licensees who are members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and the state association, Louisiana REALTORS® (LR), market themselves as REALTORS®, and they are accountable to a strict Code of Ethics to remain in good standing.
What makes a knowledgeable and professional REALTOR®?
Real estate transactions involve one of the biggest financial investments you will ever experience. Here are four ways to ensure you are wellrepresented:
Save the Stress. A Professional REALTOR® should make the process
feel seamless, handling issues that may arise during negotiations, inspections, the mortgage process, etc. REALTORS® are better equipped to handle difficult negotiations in your best interest, keeping you at ease during what could be a stressful process. More importantly, they should commit to maintaining regular communication from day one to closing so that you are always in the loop on your transaction and prepared for the next step. A REALTOR® will keep you focused on your negotiating position, especially in a multiple offer situation. Leveraging the service of a good REALTOR® to manage your transaction can save you thousands of dollars and unnecessary stress.
knowledge of the community and information about specific neighborhoods and development plans is invaluable. REALTORS® are often pillars of their community, serving as a collective voice and invested in issues that protect homeownership and property rights. They know the market and have the tools to identify and connect great opportunities for buyers and sellers. The engaged REALTORS® pays attention to the constant flow of information from NAR & LR on issues that impact the real estate market.
A professional you can trust. Committed to learning. A trusted
REALTOR® goes beyond licensing requirements to seek out education opportunities, like nationally recognized designations or certifications. Knowledgeable REALTORS® go beyond the minimum continuing education required for licensees and have a thirst for information. They may leverage the experience of their colleagues or associate with companies that offer ample growth opportunities. Be on the lookout for REALTORS® with valid credentials in their signature or business cards- like ABR, CCIM, CRS, GRI, SRS! Taking and investing in these additional steps better prepares agents to handle tricky transactions with skill and poise. Louisiana REALTORS® (LR) is the statewide trade association of 16,000+ residential and commercial practitioners. Its mission is to connect REALTORS® to resources for success while championing economic development and serving as an advocate for homeowners and private property rights. There are 10 local associations across the state under the LR umbrella – each one provides location-specific resources and services for its members.

B
oasting his own spin on traditional colonial construction, the home designed by Matt Voelkel as his personal residence in Covington is a beautiful representation of the architect’s talent, his understanding of design and his love of streamlined construction and clean lines. A monochromatic study of light and dark, the exterior juxtaposes an entirely white brick façade with black accents on the roof and the front entryway door. Multitudinous windows spill natural light onto interior spaces, beginning with a foyer whose tray ceiling, wide plank flooring, and bricked passageway into the main living spaces speak to Voelkel’s adept use of texture and architectural detail to add visual interest. BELLE MAISON
A formal dining room just off the foyer invites family dinners, once again showcasing the use of brick on one wall, while the windowed wall opposite floods the space with light. Adjoining the room, the kitchen echoes the home’s exterior, with floor-to-ceiling offset white subway tiles and custom black cabinetry used with spartan precision in the U-shaped kitchen. Stainless steel Wolf appliances along with Sub-zero refrigeration and two Asko dishwashers make the space perfect for entertaining, and the marble countertops offer stark contrast to the dark cabinetry. Just off the kitchen, a butler’s pantry affords an extra prep area and additional storage, with a wet bar and plenty of light from the two windows in the space. “There is so much to this home that we love,” says Dr. Angela Buonagura, who owns the house with her husband, Matthew Lyle. “We love the kitchen and the ‘dirty kitchen’— the butler’s pantry. It’s a great kitchen for cooking and entertaining. We cook a ton, so we love the Wolf stove, oven, and flat plate. Matthew has learned how to make an amazing grilled pressed burger. It’s incredible, and it reminds me of the old Port of Call burgers.”
68
SOCIAL NORTHSHORE
While Lyle’s skills at the grill may be impressive, his day job is a little more technical, working as an anesthetist. Buonagura, meanwhile, is a breast cancer surgeon at St Tammany Health System. Little wonder that, with their highly demanding work, that the couple would want their family home to be one that is beautiful, inviting, and spacious. At 5,000 square-feet, the five-bedroom home is, indeed, just that.

BELLE MAISON “When we first moved in, I thought how bizarre it was to have a fireplace at the end of a pool. Now, I love it! It’s so cool to swim on a chilly night and have a fire going.”
Off the kitchen, the living room offers a respite, with a fireplace and a plank wood ceiling that adds visual warmth to the starkly white space, and a wall of black-trimmed windows overlooking an impressive back yard. Stepping out the sliding doors, the covered porch is a welcoming space with overhead fans and natural brick flooring, with glass balconies and curtains to enclose the area. Down below, a rectangular pool extends beyond the length of the porch on both sides, punctuated at one end with an outdoor fireplace. “When we first moved in, I thought how bizarre it was to have a fireplace at the end of a pool,” notes Buonagura. “Now, I love it! It’s so cool to swim on a chilly night and have a fire going.”

Decorated with special touches throughout by V Home and Interior, the home is both elegant and understated, with a liveable look that a couple with a young daughter need. The bedrooms especially are a point of focus, each with their relaxed atmosphere. “Our nine-year-old daughter, Mary Katherine, loves her bedroom and living room overlooking the golf course with such a relaxing, bright feeling,” says Buonagura. “She does her homework up there and has so much peace.”

Likewise, the adults have their space of calm. Boasting multiple windows, the first-floor master bedroom is capacious and tranquil, with a soothing color palette that mimics the rest of the home. Creating a spa-like feel, the master bath features heated floors, a large walk-in double-entry marble spa shower with three heads, and a freestanding tub. “In the past, I would get cold with walk-in showers,” Buonagura observes. “Not with this. There is so much heat from the three water sources and the floor heaters, it’s a non-issue.”

As beautiful as the home is, both inside and out, the location was a major factor in the family’s purchase of the house after it was built in 2020. “The views of the golf course are amazingly tranquil and absolutely stunning,” says Buonagura. “We chose Tchefuncta Country Club for the beauty, safety, and proximity to our jobs and schools and shopping. We couldn’t love it more.”

MEGAN HELWICK
Supermom
With her slogan of “Your Realtor, Your Friend,” Megan Helwick obviously makes building lasting relationships with her clients a top priority in her work—and she has that same incredible dedication to being a mom. An agent since 2014, Helwick was determined to be successful from the minute she started her career, but she also realized the importance of not sacrificing her family to achieve that success.
BY LIESEL SCHMIDT
“Being a mom and a Realtor is a constant balancing act of keeping up with the demands of growing a thriving real estate business along with the day-to-day routine of keeping the household going,” says Helwick, a Keller Williams Realty Services member. “My amazing husband plays a large role in maintaining this with me. I could not do it alone. He's a huge support in all we do and accomplish.” Married to her husband, Rudy Helwick IV, for 15 years, the couple have a 12-year-old son who is continuing the namesake. While building her business and maintaining a spot in the top 20 percent of her brokerage as well as the top four percent of the more than 5,000 agents in the greater New Orleans area has required a great deal of hard work, Helwick knows that her unwavering drive is an example to her son. “Being a working
mom and pursuing my own goals and career is important for our son to see,” she says. “He is able to witness a strong work ethic and see that, if you have the dedication, you can own and run your own business. I want him to pursue his dreams and follow through on his goals.” Voted Favorite Real Estate Agent by Edge of Lake Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards for 2019 through 2021 and featured as a Rising Star in the October 2019 issue of New Orleans Real Producers Magazine in addition to being awarded #1 Keller Williams Listing Associate of the Year in 2018, Helwick is clearly doing something right. Despite starting her real estate career later in life, at the age of 35, the now 42-year-old believes that there is a lesson to be taken away: “Even though I started later than many people in this industry, I saw the opportunity, jumped on it and have
consequently created a thriving business of helping people in my community through real estate while being able to provide for my family,” she says. “If you come from a place of wanting to make a contribution to people’s lives, your sincerity will be understood, and people will want to do business with you.” MAY 2022

SUPERMOM
As someone who loves her community, Helwick has also involved herself in various organizations including the Professional Women of St. Tammany and her work on the advisory board for P.O.W.E.R. at Fidelity Bank to support women in business. Despite her busy schedule, the Helwick family eats dinner together most nights throughout the week. “That's an important ritual that we want our son to experience and carry on when he has a family of his own someday,” she says. As she watches her son grow, Helwick is constantly learning from him. “I’m seeing that, at different ages in my son's life, he repeats the things I say,” she notes. “My nature is to have a positive outlook on everything and be a glass-half-full kind of person, so on occasion, he uses the positive sayings that I say to him on me. Kids parrot, so set a good example with your words and how you say those words.” Working mom, Realtor, dream chaser. Helwick is all those things, and she wants her son to remember all of those things about her. But above all, she wants him to remember the love she has for him—and that “we live life laughing and enjoying each other.”
“If you come from a place of wanting to make a contribution to people’s lives, your sincerity will be understood, and people will want to do business with you.” 82

WON’T YOU BE MyNABOR BY LIESEL SCHMIDT
T
here’s a special kind of passion that drives Joseph Mier in his work along the Northshore, making his role as a REALTOR® more one of a community builder, facilitating transactions that ultimately grow the local economy and bring new life to the area. A member of the real estate industry for the past 32 years as both a REALTOR® and a real estate appraiser, Mier has been part of the Northshore Area Board of REALTORS® for the past 20 years.
A member-based trade association and local board of REALTORS® established to assist its members in the business of real estate, NABOR provides its members with discounts, continuing education, professional development, and networking opportunities. Real estate licensees who join NABOR also become members of the state association and the National Association of REALTORS®. With a mission to “empower REALTORS® as they preserve, protect, and advance the right to real property for all,” NABOR is extremely driven to meet the needs of member REALTORS® and provide both accountability and resources to further the education, efficacy, and success of the real estate professionals on its board. Naturally, that bears greatly on the client experience as well as their ability to close a deal in the most advantageous way. “Over the past five years, the board at NABOR has become one that is incredibly agent-centric and works every day to serve its members,” says Mier. “It’s been great to be a part of that change. And it’s been great to be a part of the change happening here on the Northshore with its growth.”

COMMUNITY LEADER For Mier, closing a deal is certainly satisfying, but more than that, he loves what closing a deal means for his clients. “First and foremost, what I love most about our profession is that we are in the position to help people achieve the dream of homeownership,” says Mier, who, in a former life, was a riverboat captain. It was his desire to have more time with his family and pursue something that he was passionate about, in fact, that led him to real estate. A dedicated member of his community, Mier is also extremely active in various organizations throughout the Northshore. “I like so many others in our community, believe in giving back to the community where we live, work, and worship,” he says. “I have had the pleasure of serving multiple non-profits, serving in the role of president of the Louisiana Children's Discovery Center, president of the Rotary Club of Hammond, president of

the Hammond Area Economic Development Association, president of the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Coalition, and president of the Tangipahoa Parish Economic Development Foundation.” Currently, Mier is serving as chairman of the Hammond Housing Committee for the City of Hammond; chairman of C’est Bon housing for Options, Inc., which serves adults with disabilities; and president of NABOR. “I love the people here,” Mier says of the reason he dedicates so much time to community needs. “The people of the Northshore love to live life to the fullest and are so generous to the community where we live. I love being a part of that. Just look around, and it is easy to see that community involvement is an essential part of the quality of life that the Northshore enjoys. We cannot do it alone; we must link arms and work together.” In his down time, Mier loves to spend time with his wife of 36 years, Elaine, and their children and grandchildren, as well as traveling, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors. “As much as I enjoy my work and take great pride in my professional accomplishments over the past 30 years of my career, my greatest achievement would be as husband, father, and grandfather to our blessed family of three kids and eight grandchildren.”

Kleeb will work closely in the interim with nursing and surgical service line leadership to ensure a smooth transition for surgical services.
[COVINGTON, LA] – Vizient Southern States has recognized St. Tammany “With a passion for staff development and proven track record for championing perioperative Health System with a 2021 Brilliance Award in recognition of an innovative patient navigation initiative designed to reduce growth and efficiency, I have every confidence that Courtney’s leadership acumen will be an asset as we work together to improve lives and achieve organizational goals,” asserts Kirsten avoidable admissions and readmissions through the Emergency Department. Local Elementary Students Win Top Award at State Robotics Tournament [MANDEVILLE, LA] – Along with dozens of other top Louisiana teams, Mandeville's Team Pelican has just arrived back from competing at the Louisiana State Vex IQ Robotics Championship. The REC Foundation that organizes the competition utilizes the Vex robotics program, hosting teams ranging from elementary students through college and is the Guinness record holder for largest robotics competition. Team Pelican, the competition team of local non-profit Northshore Robotics, has competed in the program for the last three years and has earned the top award, the Excellence Award many times, including twice at the State Championship and at all three events they competed in this winter. Jeremy Witt, head coach for the team, says "the secret advantage is... we have great kids we don't pressure to win, but to be determined, to find the lesson in every challenge, to seek excellence in everything they do." Where most competitors focus on score, the Pelicans focus on bettering themselves and improving every attempt. The team is also a crowd favorite, known for selflessly working with the other teams at competition to help them improve on their own scores. They may downplay the score, but they certainly put up points, winning 1st or 2nd in teamwork or skills challenges at each event this season.
