TRAINER Of those with runners this year, Kevin Ryan has the best record having won the race four times, courtesy of Amadeus Wolf (2005), Blaine (2012), Astaire (2013) and most recently Emaraaty Ana last year. He is represented by Seven Brothers this time around. Aidan O’Brien is the only other trainer with more than one success to his name but he doesn't have a representative looking to join Mull Of Kintyre and Rock Of Gibraltar on the roll of honour this year. Richard Fahey will be looking to follow up 2017 victory with Summer Sands as he saddles Escape Route. RECENT FORM A last time out victory is not essential with only four of the last ten winners having had such form to their name. However, it is worth noting only one horse in the last decade had finished outside of the first three on their most recent start. Interestingly, only half of the winners in the last decade contested a Group race on their most recent outing, so don’t be shy to look beyond those already proven at this level.

DISTANCE Only five of the last ten winners of this race had previously won over this 6f trip suggesting that such form isn’t as crucial as you would expect. However, two of the four who hadn’t won over the trip were trained by William Haggas so he clearly has the right idea of what is required to win this race Yazaman hasn't won over six furlongs yet, but has been second in two Group 2 contests. BETTING In the last decade there have been only two winning favourites of the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack but eight of those winners were sent off at singlefigure odds. An average starting price of around 6/1 also suggests that it is important not to stray too far from the market leaders. KEY TRENDS Trained by Kevin Ryan Finished in first three last time Avoid outsiders in the market

CONCLUSION Yazaman is clear of these on bare form and clearly goes into the race with an excellent chance after a maiden win, a second to Tactical in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and two further runner-up berths in Group 2 company, again to Tactical in the Tattersalls July Stakes at Newmarket and then to Supremacy in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. However, despite setting a strong standard, William Haggas' charge might find one or two improve past him here, including the Richard Hannontrained MOHAWK KING, who made an impressive winning debut at Ascot and whose pedigree suggests any softening of the ground won't be against him. Minzaal was fourth behind that rival at Ascot, but bolted up at Salisbury last time out and could narrow the gap between the two. Statistics supplied by an independent analyst. All trends are ten year based unless stated. 39
