Renovations thus far have been implemented in two phases with a budget of approximately $4 million dollars. Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation was awarded two grants to help with the renovation: $400,000 from Jefferson County Open Space for Phase I in 2017-2018, and $512,000 from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) for Phase II this year. The remaining cost for the project is funded by the City’s Open Space Fund and Conservation Trust Fund (Lottery dollars). Long-time Wheat Ridge residents have been enjoying Phase I renovations including a new fullsize football field located east of the softball fields, relocation of the trail south of the field, and renovation of the two softball fields since completion of construction in 2018. Phase II renovations broke ground on November 15th, 2021, with the City of Wheat Ridge, Farrington Construction Management and Design Concepts partnering on the project.
After several delays in construction in the winter of 2022 due to muddy and wet site conditions, the park partially re-opened on May 1st, 2022. At this time, demolition was complete, pickleball court concrete was poured and fence posts were installed, new shelter footing was poured and then entry road asphalt was poured. In its entirety, Phase II renovations include replacing the picnic pavilion, replacing the tennis court with pickleball courts, improving the road, parking lots, and sidewalks in the park, replacing the eastern playground, adding a fishing pier and shelter on the northeast side of Prospect Lake, and improving irrigation and landscaping throughout the park. With a full park re-opening in fall 2022, residents will have time to enjoy the new renovations before temperatures drop!

JUMPBOARD CARDIO REFORMER FUSION AMY TUNNELL
Do you love cardio, but need a format that is safer for your spine and joints? The cardio jumpboard gives you the opportunity to get your heart rate up with the support of the Reformer, as you lay on the Pilates apparatus while jumping. This works your core as you jump and puts no compression on your spine as you are horizontal while jumping. This is a circuit training, as we move from cardio to strength exercises in intervals. Not only is it effective, it’s really fun! Pilates keeps you safe and in proper alignment, as you work in this upbeat and challenging cardio/strength class.

PILATES REFORMER FOUNDATIONS BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE
This Beginner/Intermediate Pilates Reformer class will challenge every muscle in your body, include all movements of the spine (flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral), focus on balance challenges to strengthen your stabilizers, and incorporate functional movements for coordination. We will build upon challenging strength exercises that focus on the proper use of breath and techniques to achieve the use of muscles you never knew you had! You will learn the foundations of Pilates and experience the benefits as you gain proper technique. This class will move at a moderate pace and is appropriate for all skill levels, as modifications and variations can be easily integrated. Pilates has many benefits that will change your body, from your inner-most muscle groups, which improve balance/stability, core strength, injury prevention, injury recovery, and lengthening the muscles.

BATIK WITH WATERCOLOR
With watercolor batik, wax is used as a resist that blocks the areas that are not intended to receive paint. Batiking is not an exact science, be prepared for unintentional drips of wax and oozing color. Believe it or not, these actually add to the look of the piece! $10 material fee due to instructor first day of class.

CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP Discover the fun and magic of creating brilliant blue cyanotype prints. Considered an early form of photography, paper is treated with a photosensitive solution. Thin objects like (leaves, feathers, lace) are placed on paper, sandwiched under glass and set out in the sun. Feel free to bring your own thin objects. After the paper is rinsed, a wonderful blue color emerges. Create 3-4 prints during class. $15 supply fee due to the instructor on the day of class. Inclement weather re-schedule date is 10-1.
