HYUNDAI’S LATEST HX140LC EXCAVATOR IS ‘RELIABLE, EFFICIENT & OPERATOR FRIENDLY’ County Tyrone based contractor Ralph Burrows is a loyal fan of the Hyundai brand; he has just invested in his third excavator from Northern Lift Trucks, one of the very latest Hyundai HX140LC’s, and he couldn’t be more satisfied.

I have had other makes, but the Hyundai does exactly what it says it will do.”

Ralph undertakes a variety of projects - from building sites to farm work – across the country, always busy, always on the go, so he needs a machine that he can rely on 24/7, and he finds that in the Hyundai.

He adds: “It’s more powerful, moves quicker and smoother, and the controls are so precise, so accurate and responsive; it’s unreal, compared to other models I have driven.

Ralph established his own business in 2006, employing a number of men and machines, but cut back when the recession hit and today essentially operates as an owner/ driver, along with help from his sons. “I cannot afford the excavator to let me down,” says Ralph, who was working on preparing the ground for a factory extension when we caught up with him. “It needs to be dependable, and I have always found that with all of the Hyundai’s I have operated over the years; of course,

His previous Hyundai HX140 was powered by a Perkins engine, but the new 14 tonne machine has a Cummins and says Ralph: “It’s a totally different animal altogether!”

“The cab is also far better laid out than others I have had; there’s plenty of space and it has everything you would ever need. It really does provide a pleasant working environment for me – including Bluetooth connectivity, a brilliant audio system and even a small fridge under the seat, ideal for keeping my drinks cool in warm weather. “Apart from providing a robust and reliable machine, it’s clear to me that Hyundai have put the operator’s comfort

first, with a lot of attention to little details that all make up to create a great environment in which to spend your working day. “And as for the 360 degree cameras, they are the best I have ever seen. All round visibility is vital, especially working on sites where there is a lot of construction traffic and tradesmen; you have to know what is happening around the machine all the time. In fact, you soon get so used to having the cameras that you find yourself wondering what you ever did without them in the past.” With contracts all over the country, transporting the Hyundai from site to site is never a problem. He just loads it up on to a low loader and off he goes to where the work is, and he doesn’t have to worry about it letting him down.
