lose myself in my thoughts. `` Was it just a dream? It seemed so real... ´´ I wondered. Both of them have just sat down next to me, in two hammocks and are talking about some plan for this afternoon that, although I am not interested at all. I feel a familiar feeling on the soles of my feet, the sand vibrates. I look at everyone, terrified. They do not seem to realize what is to come. 1er premio: Jara Hernández Alamán (2º Bch) del IES “Tiempos Modernos” de Zaragoza.

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER Emillie was my best friend. She was a beautiful and kind girl, I can still remember how much we loved spending time together. We met at school, when we were just four years old, but since then we created a great conexion by living lots of adventures, great moments, and planning our future. 2015 summer was extremely hot in our village, Bisbee. We enjoyed going to Emily’s house, which was located up in the mountain, to take a bath in her huge swimming pool. The 12th of August 2015 was as normal as usual, I spent my afternoon with Emillie and some other friends and then I went home and fell asleep. It was 3 am when my dad entered my room and took me out of bed rapidly. I did not understand the situation until I left my house. Our village was completely covered by fire, people shouted panicked, there were lots of police cars and firefighters were trying to deal with the situation.

frases en la mano A police officer guided us to a bus and we were transported to the village´s old factory where some people tried to calm us down and gave some food and water. From time to time new buses arrived and my friends and some other neighbors came into the factory. But Emillie did not. I was really nervous and I could not sleep. We stayed in the factory a day more, and when the fire was extinguished completely we were able to return home. Bisbee was completely destroyed; the shops, the houses, the park and the monuments were all covered by a black layer of ash, but the inhabitants were destroyed too; some people had died and some families had lost their possessions. Some others had just disappeared, I was all the time thinking about where Emille may be. But then my life changed. Emilie’s house was quite near the place where the fire started, she was not able to escape, and she and her family could not survive. Life felt overwhelming when I realized it. I was completely shocked and it was difficult to recover from that situation. Over the time I moved to college and met new people. Several days ago I returned to Bisbee in order to visit my family, I decided to visit the area where Emillie used to live, because I thought I was prepared enough to do it. It was a mixture of emotions to go there and remember the moments we have been spending together. While I was walking something really caught my attention; there was a shiny necklace layed on the bed, when I picked it up tears streamed down my cheeks. That was the collar that I gave to Emillie several years ago the day of her birthday, it was gold and heartshaped necklace with an engraved message ¨best friends forever¨. That same day I understood that having a beautiful memory is the step for reaching the eternity.

brother. On June 12, 1999, my little brother who was 14 years old was kidnapped and taken to a basement. The police easily found out that it was Kevin thanks to the camera images of the cafeteria where my brother was kidnapped. Then, they began to investigate his whereabouts, but since he lived in a caravan, it was quite complicated. It took the police 3 weeks to find his license plate. One day a patrol alerted the police that they had seen Kevin’s license plate. However, that was not just a common day, the meteorologists had predicted the biggest tornado in ten years and it turned out that Kevin was heading towards the tornado with my brother inside his vehicle. Quickly, four police patrols were already chasing Kevin, when he stopped the caravan and got out with my brother threatening him with a gun, getting closer and closer to the tornado. The police tried to negotiate with him, but it was too late, the tornado swept everything away. That day, eight police officers, Kevin and my brother died. It was not until two days later that the police found in the remains of the caravan an address on the GPS of the basement where my brother was held. There, they found a farewell letter from my brother in which he had written Kevin’s intentions. Well, it turns out that Kevin hoped that God would bring his brother back to life if he gave him another human life that looked like him and died in the same way. Although it may seem crazy, it is really what he thought. Personally, I don’t know if God exists, but if so, I hope my brother is in heaven. THE BELIEVER It all started when in the state of Oklahoma, in 1987, a tornado devastated the area where Kevin Crumb, my brother’s murderer, lived. In addition, Kevin lived in a small house with his older brother, Mark. They lived alone since their drunken parents hardly appeared at home. That same day, the tornado unfortunately killed Kevin’s older brother, Mark. That way, making Kevin spend the rest of his childhood in foster homes. However, Kevin was so psychologically traumatized by the death of his older brother, that when he reached the legal age, he began to behave in a mysterious way. At that moment he already had planned to kidnap my
