SME FEATURE

AMARABI SEASONING & MARINADE Wanting to produce something that would make cooking more easy for all persons, whether experienced or in-experienced in the kitchen, she started Amarabi Seasoning & Marinade- condiments free of MSG for all types of meats. These condiments are rich in flavor and easy to apply… so easy that the slogan is, “Just add meat!” Amarabi Seasoning & Marinade is a unique blend of freshly picked herbs and spices that are traditionally found in Belize, the home country of owner, Laura Raymond. Amarabi Seasoning & Marinades comes in six different flavors: original, rosemary, coconut oil base, chili with coconut oil base, cumin, and curry. These are all sold in supermarkets, butcher shops, and tourist shops around Belize.

Laura worked with the Small Business Development Centre Belize (SBDCBelize) which provides customized needs-based services to micro, small and medium sized enterprises, enabling them to be competitive and grow their businesses. SBDCBelize assisted Laura in designing her label and logo and acquiring machinery; with this support, she was also able to learn about the WEAmericas Accelerator, teaching her the importance of a solid business plan and allowing her to access world-class management education, invaluable networking opportunities and access to finance. In 2018, BELTRAIDE held its competitiveness month where Laura Raymond was named its first Female Business Ambassador 20182019. Laura hopes to assist other aspiring business women to build, grow and market their businesses. Her motto to them, “Being diligent and consistent are the keys to being a successful business woman!”

AGRICULTURE

Agriculture remains an important sector to the national economy. The small-scale farming sub sector produces mainly food for local consumptions and hence significantly contributes to Belize’s food security. The new emerging commodities of grains, pulses, livestock, poultry, fruits and aquaculture among others, offer great opportunities for investment and enterprise development for both the national and international export markets.

The business was launched in 2005 and has facilities in Jenkins Creek in the Southern Stann Creek, Swasey River and Trio in the Northern Toledo District in Belize. Since 2012, 3 R Farm Limited has been emphasizing product diversification and vertical integration as key components of our risk management strategy. We have diversified from a one-dimensional livestock company, to citrus, grain, and cacao production. These operations have been developed over a period of thirteen years and have been fine tuned to a high level of efficiency. The overarching vision has always been driven by product diversification and vertical integration. 3 R Farm Limited’s goal is to develop its cacao operation into a consistent supplier of, quality cacao beans to our clients.

While we strive to meet production goals, this must be tempered by the need for environmental consciousness and sustainability. Important to note is that we maintain as much of the native forest as possible, especially the tropical hardwood species found in the area. We therefore seek like-minded trading partners to properly develop this approach to business development.
