Page 66

The new year brings new pressures to be better, but let’s take a moment to celebrate our achievements! Instead of fighting post-holiday blues, we invited our Resident Members to reflect on their accomplishments and to remember how amazing they truly are.

Over 500 Boardwalk Residents from across Canada joined the Project Blue squad and shared their uplifting reflections with us. Here are just a few of the amazing submissions we received.

I made a piece of artwork that turned out amazing.

How are you planning to show yourself more kindness in 2023?

I am going to show myself extra kindness by treating myself with gentleness and not comparing myself to others. I will celebrate my accomplishments and be proud of them, instead of criticizing myself. I will be more understanding and compassionate towards myself, and remind myself daily that I am enough just the way I am.

How are you planning to show yourself more kindness in 2023?

I’m going to embrace Nadine Stair’s poem, “If I had my life to live over”. She was 85 years old when she wrote it:

As we enter 2023, what are you most grateful for?

Put simply, I am grateful for my incredible friends and colleagues.

“If I had my life to live over, I’d dare to make more mistakes next time. I’d relax. I would limber up. I would be sillier than I have been on this trip. I would take fewer things seriously. I would take more chances. I would take more trips. I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers. I would eat more ice cream and less beans. I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I’d have fewer imaginary ones. You see, I’m one of those people who live sensibly and sanely hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I’ve had my moments and if I had it to do over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d have nothing else. Just moments. One after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day. I’ve been one of those people who never go anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute. If I had my life to live over, I’d start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would travel lighter next time. I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.”

Shelley

I plan to show kindness to myself and spread positivity by lending a helping hand at work, giving compliments to my coworkers, showing appreciation to those around me, and being a loving wife and mother to my family.

As we enter 2023, what are you most grateful for?

I’m thankful for my family, friends, and loved ones who bring joy to my life. I’m grateful for having a job that I truly enjoy and for the love and support of those around me. Above all, I’m thankful for the gift of life and all the opportunities it brings!
