STAR AGRITECH UN ESFUERZO CARITATIVO PARA CAMERÚN //

A CHARITABLE EFFORT TO THE CAMEROON

for The Cameroon Farming Community in North West Cameroon to demonstrate the value of cooperation in accordance with its ethical values. The clinic donation will include the construction of a building with two beds and basic equipment useful in emergency situations. Once the Star entity in The Cameroon is established, the clinic and school donations will be handled by its Cameroonian subsidiary. The first clinic project will break ground in March of 2023. In late 2023, the donation of the school will be carried out.

Star Agritech International (Star) ha comenzado a trabajar en un proyecto de donación de clínicas y escuelas para la comunidad agrícola de Camerún en el noroeste de Camerún para demostrar el valor de la cooperación de acuerdo con sus valores éticos. La donación de la clínica incluirá la construcción de un edificio con dos camas y equipamiento básico útil en situaciones de emergencia. Plasencia Cigars, a premium tobacco grower since 1865, announces the release of the limited edition “The Year of the Rabbit”. The cigar brand commemorates the Chinese New Year (January 22, 2023), which is the start of the “Year of the Rabbit”. The Year of the Rabbit will be a limited-edition brand offered only 6,000 boxes were produced with only 3,000 for the U.S. marketplace.

CIGARRO DOMINICANO estuvo de visita en Portugal, donde es inadmisible dejar fuera del itinerario el Palacio Real de Queluz, ubicado en las afueras de la ciudad de Lisboa. Apodado como “El Versalles portugués”, este recinto alberga una cantidad sorprendente de áreas y rincones; uno más despampanante que el otro, como su SALÓN PARA FUMADORES. En su interior; habitaciones, salas de estar y dormitorios decorados con las más finas

piezas, y en su exterior, jardines kilométricos con impresionantes matices de colores, los típicos azulejos portugueses y estatuas. No pudimos evitar maravillarnos, e imaginarnos fumando junto a don Pedro III, en la SALA DE FUMADORES; una hermosa estancia con muebles del siglo XIX, elaborados en distintos países de Europa y en China, cuya decoración se conserva intacta. Entre ellos, la mesa (una especie de humidor)

Este estilo de salas se utilizaba para el entretenimiento, se practicaban juegos de mesa, cartas y otros, que con la presencia de las damas se convertían en una

actividad galante. Mientras jugaban, los participantes recibían cenas y refrigerios que incluían sorbetes, café, chocolate y bebidas. También se consideraba refinado fumar, el antes mencionado, tabaco en polvo o molido, que se guardaba en

preciosas cajitas, las cuales eran complementos de gran lujo.

Se presume que, la propiedad donde está construido el Palacio era utilizada como pabellón de caza, fue muchos años más tarde que se transformó en residencia de verano de la familia real portuguesa. El príncipe Don Pedro III, esposo de la reina María I, quiso construir el nuevo palacio, encargando el proyecto a un arquitecto portugués, Mateus Vicente de Oliveira, y un artista francés, Jean-Baptiste Robillon. La construcción del palacio tuvo lugar en unos diez años, entre 1750 y 1760. Hoy en día, el palacio se utiliza para recibir importantes personalidades y jefes de estado durante las visitas oficiales; en el interior del palacio y de los jardines también se organizan conciertos y espectáculos.

AN IMPOSING ARCHITECTURAL WORK IN WHICH

CIGARRO DOMINICANO was visiting Portugal, where it is inadmissible to leave the Royal Palace of Queluz, located on the outskirts of the city of Lisbon, out of the itinerary.

Nicknamed “The Portuguese Versailles”, this venue houses a surprising number of rooms and beautiful spots; one more stunning than the other, like its SMOKING LOUNGE. Inside; rooms, living rooms and bedrooms decorated with the finest pieces, and outside, kilometer-long gardens with impressive shades of colors, the typical Portuguese tiles and statues.

We couldn’t help but wonder, and imagine ourselves smoking next to Don Pedro III, in the SMOKING ROOM; a beautiful lounge with 19th century furniture, made in different European countries and in China, whose decoration remains intact. Among them, the table (a kind of humidor) where they kept golden boxes with very fine handcrafted

WHICH AN ELEGANT SMOKING ROOM STANDS OUT

the Caribbean islands natives, was introduced in Europe at the end of the 15th century and essentially during the 16th century, by travelers returning to their mother country, in Europe, spreading quickly across the continent. This kind of room was used for entertainment, board games, cards and others were played, which with the presence of the ladies became a gallant activity. While playing, the participants received dinners and snacks that included sherbet, coffee, chocolate and drinks. En lo alto de los Alpes suizos, un resort de lujo seduce a los visitantes con una atracción inusual; es el Hotel Chedi, en el pueblo de montaña de Andermatt, el cual alberga una biblioteca de cigarros que contiene una vasta colección especializada.

Muchos son raros y muy caros, y algunos huéspedes incluso visitan el

complejo específicamente para probarlos. Adam Török, miembro del equipo del bar que maneja la colección, explica qué esperar al visitar una biblioteca de puros.

¿Qué es una biblioteca de puros?

La biblioteca de puros del Chedi se compone de dos salones elegantemente

amueblados. El primero, es un salón acogedor y tenuemente iluminado con sillones lujosos y estanterías donde los huéspedes pueden fumar. Justo al lado de este salón hay un gabinete cerrado con llave revestido con vitrinas de vidrio llenas de filas y filas de cigarros. Aquí, el hotel presenta parte de su colección de casi 950

cigarros producidos por más de 400 marcas en 15 países diferentes. Un gran número de las piezas son de edición limitada o raras. De hecho, algunos cigarros son solo para exhibición y los invitados no pueden comprarlos. “Tenemos invitados de todo el mundo que vienen aquí por los cigarros”, dice Török, “así como mucha gente importante en la industria del cigarro”. Muchos de los artículos de la colección del hotel no están disponibles en las tiendas.

¿Cuál es el puro más caro de la biblioteca?

Los cigarros a la venta comienzan en alrededor de 10 CHF (10 €) pero los precios suben a miles. El puro más caro cuesta 8,500 CHF (8,603 €) y es uno de los 4,000 producidos en 2006. Los 4,000 puros Cohiba fueron enrollados, etiquetados y numerados a mano por la misma mujer.

El hotel también está trabajando para acumular una gran colección de cigarros cubanos, que son cada vez más escasos ya que alrededor de la mitad de los que produce el país ahora van directamente a China. Algunos de estos se fabrican en cantidades muy limitadas, tan solo 10,000 piezas.

Los precios también dependen del tiempo de añejamiento de los cigarros. La edición limitada es añejada por dos años, la reserva por tres y la gran reserva por cinco.

Los cigarros más raros de la colección, que son solo para exhibición, incluyen los producidos en cantidades limitadas para personajes famosos. Esto incluye el cigarro Presidencia, creado en 2006 para Fidel Castro y su círculo de élite, y dos cigarros obsequiados a Castro por su cumpleaños en 1975. También tienen ejemplos de los primeros cigarrillos de la década de 1920 hechos para mujeres y puros del siglo XIX.

¿De dónde obtiene Hotel Chedi sus cigarros raros? El asistente ejecutivo Tim-Martin Weber comenzó la colección en el 2018 y en cuatro años ha ampliado la selección de 100 a casi 1000 cigarros. El hotel obtiene muchos de sus artículos raros de las subastas, donde puede encontrar piezas únicas. Algunos también provienen del mundialmente famoso salón de cigarros House of Grauer, en Ginebra.

¿Cómo se almacenan los cigarros?

Las vitrinas de la biblioteca de puros se denominan humidores y están especialmente diseñadas para conservar estos valiosos artículos en las mejores condiciones. “Los cigarros deben conservarse a una temperatura de unos 17 grados centígrados y entre un 65 y un 70 por ciento de humedad”, explica Török. “Si dejas un cigarro sobre una mesa durante unos días, se secará y perderá

su sabor”. El hotel también dispone de una amplia sala de almacenamiento con las condiciones idóneas para su conservación donde se alberga el resto de la colección. Al igual que el vino, los cigarros pueden mejorar con la edad. “Tienes que encontrar el equilibrio adecuado”, dice Török. “Puedes envejecer un cigarro durante 100 años, aunque estos no son para principiantes”.

¿Hay sommeliers de puros?

Como explica Török, elegir un cigarro puede ser un poco como elegir un buen vino. Cuando los invitados llegan al salón, él y sus colegas están disponibles para ayudarlos a encontrar algo que se adapte a sus gustos. “Algunos invitados están probando un cigarro por primera vez, así que sugiero una opción más suave y tranquila”, explica Török. Otros clientes pueden tener más experiencia y buscar notas más potentes y fuertes. “Los cigarros tienen una amplia gama de sabores, incluidos amaderados, cremosos, florales y chocolateados”, dice. High in the Swiss Alps, one luxury resort is enticing visitors with an unusual attraction. The Chedi Hotel in the mountain town of Andermatt is home to a cigar library containing a vast specialized collection. Many are rare and very expensive with some guests even visiting the resort specifically to sample them. Adam Török,

a member of the bar team who mans the collection, explains what to expect when visiting a cigar library.

What is a cigar library?

The Chedi’s cigar library is made up of two elegantly furnished rooms. The first is a cozy, softly lit lounge with plush chairs and bookshelves

where guests can smoke. Just off this room is a locked cabinet lined with glass display cases filled with row upon row of cigars. Here, the hotel presents some of its collection of nearly 950 cigars produced by over 400 brands in 15 different countries. A large number of the pieces are limited edition or rare.

What is the most expensive cigar in the library?

The cigars for sale start at around 10 CHF (€10) but prices go up to the thousands. The most expensive single cigar costs 8,500 CHF (€8,603) and is one of only 4,000 produced in 2006. All 4,000 of these Cohiba cigars were rolled, labelled and hand numbered by the same woman.

The hotel is also working to amass a large collection of Cuban cigars, which are becoming rarer as around half those the country produces now go directly to China. Some of these are made in very limited numbers, as little as 10,000 pieces. Prices depend on the aging time of the cigars, too. The edicion limitada is aged for two years, the reserva for three and the gran reserva for five. The rarest cigars of the collection, which are for display only, include ones produced in limited numbers for famous people. This includes the Presidencia cigar, created in 2006 for Fidel Castro and his elite circle, and two cigars gifted to Castro for his birthday in 1975. They also have examples of early cigarettes from the 1920s made for women and cigars from the 19th century.

How do you store cigars?

The display cases in the cigar library are called humidors and they are specially designed to keep these valuable items in the best condition.

“Cigars need to be conserved at a temperature of about 17 degrees Celsius and 65 to 70 per cent humidity”, Török explains. «If you leave a cigar out on a table for a few days, it will dry out and lose its flavour». The hotel also has a vast storage room with the ideal conditions for conservation where the rest of the collection is housed. Like wine, cigars can improve with age. “You have to find the right balance,” says Török. “You can age a cigar for 100 years, although these are not for beginners.”

Are there cigar sommeliers?

As Török explains, choosing a cigar can be a bit like choosing a fine wine. When guests arrive in the lounge, he and his colleagues are in hand to help find something to suit their tastes. “Some guests are trying a cigar for the first time so I suggest a milder, easy-going option”, explains Török. Other clients may be more experienced and look for more powerful, stronger notes. “Cigars have a whole range of flavours including woody, creamy, floral and chocolatey,” he says.

In fact, some cigars are for display only, and cannot be bought by guests. “We have guests from all over the world that come here for the cigars,” says Török, “as well as a lot of important people in the cigar industry”. Many of the items in the hotel’s collection are not available in shops.

Tim-Martin Weber started the collection in 2018 and in four years has expanded the selection from 100 to nearly 1000 cigars. The hotel sources many of its rare items from auctions, where you can find oneof-a-kind pieces. Some also come from the world-renowned House of Grauer cigar lounge, in Geneva.

At the Chedi’s cigar library, guests can settle in the lounge and pair a cigar with a glass of whisky or rum. In the summer months, you can also sit outside in the courtyard and puff away while admiring a view of Switzerland’s famous Gotthard Pass and distant mountains.
