Stewart Bruening, PGA Builder and Operator Southwest Greens LLC Long-time Section Partner Asks, “How Can I Help” When Providing Morgage Free Homes When it comes to building stellar golf properties, Steward Bruening is an expert. Having been in the development business for decades, he has been a part of many golf course projects throughout the country. The Golf Club at Bear Dance in Larkspur is no exception and earns its spot as one of Stewart’s favorites. Beginning in 1999, four golf professionals came together with a vision and got to work. Getting their hands and boots dirty was the beginning of something great. Now, Bruening looks back on all the successful facilities he has been a part of, and the individual staffs of people who make them great, is his crowning achievement. Bruening’s relationship with the PGA REACH Colorado Foundation only grew when the Section moved into the office space at The Golf Club at Bear Dance. Several years ago, the PGA REACH Colorado Foundation gave away it’s first mortgage free home to a combat wounded veteran through generous donations and partnerships. “About five years ago, I said ‘how can I help?’ To be able to say that you’re a part of that and we help give a mortgage free home to a wounded warrior every year - its very special to me and that’s been one of the most rewarding things that I think I have done in my career.”

Southwest Greens is a family affair. Now, Brock Bruening, Stewart’s son has began taking over parts of the business and continuing the valuable partnership with the Colorado PGA and PGA REACH Colorado Foundation.
