2023 Section Award Winners
Bob Doyle, PGA Life Member A Career of Service Warrants Doyle’s Third Golf Professional of the Year Award Bob Doyle, PGA of America Life Member receives his third Golf Professional of the Year award in a couple of weeks (at the time of publication). This award is given to an individual who displays “qualities of leadership, strong moral character, and a substantial record of service” to the PGA and the game of golf. His recognition spans decades of a career serving his fellow PGA of America Golf Professionals in roles at the Section level and National level. If you have ever sat down with Bob, you would know that he bleeds PGA of America colors and rarely says “no” to helping another. Even in retirement, Doyle actively serves on the Colorado PGA Board of Directors and on Section Committees. When asked about what he’s most proud of in his career, he notes that the PGA of America Golf Professionals in the Colorado Section are proficient leaders that can come together in difficult times, make good decisions, and continue to lead the Section into the future. He shared that he is excited to see the Section in such good hands of young leaders among the Colorado PGA Board of Directors and Committees.

Humble beginnings as a range attendant led to Doyle being the General Manager for Riverdale Golf Courses, where he was an integral part of getting the now Korn Ferry Tour to make a stop in Colorado. During his time as a Player Development Regional Manager for the PGA of America, he was responsible for piloting programs such as Drive, Chip & Putt, and PGA Jr. League which, combined, now service over 100,000 kids each year. When asked, Bob also served as the interim Executive Director for the Colorado PGA through a CEO change.
“I‘m really thankful and, again, the word I keep thinking is I‘m just overwhelmed and really appreciative.“ 32 Fall 2023
Doyle is no stranger to winning Colorado PGA Awards. This will be his sixth award. He won his first Golf Professional of the Year award 26 years ago in 1997. When asked what it meant for him to win it again after a quartercentury he said, “To be able to contribute now at this stage of my career means a lot to me, and to be recognized for that is pretty special.”
