On that day the representatives from the 13 colonies that became the United States approved the historic Decloration of Independence! “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness,” our country’s founding fathers wrote this in the Decloration of Independence. We live in the greatest country on earth where everyone can be who or what they want to be! You have religious freedoms found nowhere else on this planet and you can travel freely and at will! You have the right to free speech, to peaceably assemble and the right to keep and bear arms! The freedom and the oportunities abound here in The United States of America! No matter where you are born within the US or what your race or background is you have all the freedoms and all the tools at your disposal, the sky is the limit! Never forget that and don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise. God Bless you and yours! Our forefathers fought and died for this country and for us! Many people have asked how they can send care packages or letters to deploying #Soldiers. A few years ago, the Department of Defense made the decision to stop using military assets to ship letters and care packages to deployed Soldiers. In keeping with this guidance, Fort Bragg cannot receive care packages and/or letters to forward on to our deployed forces. However, we are blessed to have two major organizations that can assist if you wish to support our troops, the USO of North Photo above: We had a fantastic visit with troops, AR SFRG volunteer and Gold Star Carolina and NCPacks4Patriots. The USO has a long relationship with Fort Bragg. In 1941, Fayetteville was home to the first USO outside of Washington DC. The #USO of NC has a center in Fort Bragg’s Maj. Gen. William C. Lee Soldiers Support Center, where they provide a wide variety of services to more than 400 Service members daily. The USO of NC is accepting in-kind donations that can be given to service members as they leave for a deployment. Examples of needed donations include hygiene items such as deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, baby wipes, energy drinks, snacks, etc. Unfortunately, the USO does not have the capability to send letters and care packages to service members overseas. The point of contact is (910) 495-1438 or via email at: pcannon@uso-nc.org. NCPacks4Patriots is a volunteer non-profit organization based in the Eastern NC cross-roads town of Ayden. They have been supporting our deployed troops with care packages since 2005. Their packages contain hygiene items, snacks, recreational items and letters from grateful Americans. During this past holiday season they sent more than 900 packages to deployed forces. All items and postage for their operations come from donations. RADD Raising Awareness for the Developmenatally Disabled

KINSTON, NC We were happy to support RADD today on the bikes. RADD is an organization right here in Lenoir County that helps disabled kids and adults. We couldn’t have asked for a prettier day to do it either! Bless everyone that supported this cause Lord and bless those that benefit from the efforts the folks at RADD put into them. RADD: Their mission is to provide skill building through social and recreational activities while providing support services and advocacy for developmentally disabled individuals and their families. Livin' The L Back in The Saddle Again GREAT FEELING IN NC I finally got to ride on a motorcycle yesterday and it was GREAT. It’s been a while and it was such an awesome feeling to be back in the wind! In the first picture is Brandon Daniels, an employee of the Nash County Sheriff’s Department, and his Aunt Debbie (Debbie Rodriguez A.K.A. D-Rod). 1800 Miles Solo WILMINGTON NC TO MISSISSIPPI Well, I just got home from a 9 day 1,800 mile, solo vacation and I thought I’d share my adventure with you. I had the best time! I rode out of Wilmington, N.C., and headed to Mississippi. I rode a section of the Natchez Trace Parkway to Tupelo then because of weather I took the interstate to Loveless Cafe. I actually ran into the group on the Run for the Wall ride. From there I went to Cherokee through the Smokey Mountains where I spent 5 awesome days! Velvet Silver Wilmington, NC

SHENANDOAH BAPTIST CHURCH 5th ANNUAL SCRIPTURE RUN 2022

ROCKY MOUNT, NC April 23, 2022. Oh! What a beautiful day the Lord made!!! It was a beautiful sunny day in the low 80’s, a perfect day for a ride. We are so blessed and thankful for the 43 bikes and 2 cars along with all the riders and church members and friends that came. We start the day with our Prayer Circle, the biggest ever and were led in prayer by our youth pastor, Zach Zervas. First bikes were out at 10:00 and a second group at 11:00 enjoyed a 60 mile ride through Nash and Wilson counties. The stops this year included: Harper’s Nursery/Wendy’s Hole in the Wall Boutique, Cyclemax, Flying Iron Harley-Davidson and JD’s Grocery and Grill ending up back at Shenandoah Baptist Church where the rest of the fun began. Each rider was treated to a swag bag this year and then a hot dog lunch with all the trimmings. We had over 45 sponsors/donators this year with over 60 door prizes and gift cards. We had over $3000 in door prizes and several of the prize values between $100 and $400 to help us in our mission to raise money for the Shenandoah youth ministries and outreach. Don’t want to forget the silent cake auction. We had over 5 items that were auctioned and a couple created quite a bidding war. Thank you to the bakers and the bidders.

The first place prize for the run was $100 won by Sarah Brown. The “worst” hand was won by Jason Robinson $50. We also had 50/50 total of $255 with $127 going to James Eason. Thanks to James and Jason for immediately giving back to the YOUTH…..well, they touched it first! Thanks guys. In total, with the run, the door prizes, 50/50, cake auction and concessions, we raised over $5800. We thank each and every person that bought even 1 ticket and we ask God’s blessings so that this money will be used to HIS glory and HIS only. God blessed us with this idea of a Scripture Run over 5 years ago and it has grown and evolved every year. It is a lot of hard work but the rewards are so great. Many kids will be going to camp that otherwise might not be able to afford to go. If even one life is changed because of all this, then we are truly blessed and thankful. Motor Maids The 24th Annual Parked Motorcycle Syndrome (PMS) was held this year in Williamsburg, VA on February 4th, 5th and 6th. This event has been hosted by Glennadine Gouldman for the last 24 years. There were 36 Motor Maids from North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and of course Virginia and West Virginia who attended. Motor Maids started arriving Friday afternoon and after getting settled into their rooms, everyone congregated into the party room for stories, card games and a lot of fun. Gloria Struck and Lorie DeSilva made the drive from New Jersey. We enjoyed listening to Gloria as she told us her stories of her many adventures of riding across the country. Saturday morning everyone went their different ways exploring Williamsburg shops and the surrounding areas. It’s hard to say where everyone went but one stop that we made was at the Christmas Mouse. This entire store is decorated for Christmas. There were so many Christmas trees with different styles of ornaments and lights for all occasions. We also made a stop at Whitley’s Peanut Factory. Whitley’s is famous for their “Home Cooked” peanuts, but we found our way to the back of the store where there were different peanut confections. I do believe that all of us walked out of the store with chocolate covered peanuts. We also visited the General Store and Wallace’s Trading Post. A few of the Ladies went to Colonial Williamsburg where costumed re-enactors walked around town greeting the visitors. Horse drawn carriages were seen going up and down the streets to the delight of guests enjoying the historic buildings and living history of the town. Glennadine, Jeanne and Krissa went to Newport News to visit with Rick and Patti, who took care of Helen Kiss Main who was one of the original charter members. I also heard that the Jersey girls found a Midnight Bingo near Williamsburg to enjoy for the night. Everyone made it back Saturday night to enjoy the cake that was made for the 24th Annual PMS and to enjoy snacks of all kinds. While walking around I noticed a few interesting variances of UNO card games and it sounded like some singing was coming from some of the other tables. There was a 50/50 drawing that Tammy Barber won and donated back to the district. Jeanne Deak won the quilt that Linda Meeks had made for the quilt raffle and several other gifts were given away to lucky ticket holders. In closing, our PMS event brings members from several Districts to enjoy the shared camaraderie of one important thing; we are all Motor Maids, we all ride motorcycles and we all enjoy meeting up and having a good time with friends. Glennadine also wants everyone to remember that next year is the 25th Anniversary of our PMS event and everyone is welcome to join us. WWW.MOTORMAIDSINC.ORG

By: Bob Seymour Another summer riding season is in full swing and the anticipation among riders for taking their scooters out on their favorite runs or going to one of the hundreds of motorcycle rallies around the country is mounting as the days are counted down. As for me personally, I always look forward to getting back up to the mountain canyons here in Colorado and of course I love going to Sturgis. The best time to go up to the Black Hills is a few weeks before the Sturgis Rally kicks off. There’s very little traffic to contend with and I love riding the Black Hills and The Bad Lands without ten thousand other scooters on the same roads I like to ride up there. But the biggest reason I love going to Sturgis any time is to meet up with old friends and to meet people I only know from Facebook. It’s just amazing how many people I’ve met from Facebook and put a face to the name and have had strong relationships come from that first face to face. I like to go up to South Dakota a week or two before the rally starts so I can do what I call prayer rides. I will get on Bullwinkle and ride all of the popular roads and pray for the safety of the people who will ride them during the rally. When I do one of those rides I try to follow the Spirit’s lead and wherever He has me stop to eat or drink I go in with expectations that He will have me pray a specific prayer related to a Divine encounter at some point during the rally. I’ve seen that kind of faith in action result in some of the most incredible blessings imaginable and now after decades of seeing the Spirit do some pretty amazing things I’m finally expecting Him to show up instead of wondering if He will....

I’ve been chomping at the bit to get on Bullwinkle and lay down some miles because I’ve been more or less stuck in a couple different places for a few months. I got stuck because of the weather and some personal health issues I have to deal with but freedom is near! I check the weather every day to see how many days I can ride without freezing my butt off or needing rain gear and it looks like the next month is gonna be really nice. Like most people, I know the only thing that will stop or slow me down from putting on some serious miles is the rising cost of fuel. But whether or not I can ride very far I will still be grateful for all the time I’ve had in the saddle and the people I’ve been blessed and honored to have met. It won’t be long and I will be heading north to Hot Springs and Belle Fourche, South Dakota to visit some good friends and to make some contingency plans for the Sturgis Rally. I can feel the expectations of some good things happening growing in my spirit every day which is something I don’t usually have. I’ve had a lot of disappointment in my world so I’ve learned to suppress any expectations I might have but this time I can’t do it, it just keeps growing. I’ve been getting messages from people in several other countries who are going to be there this year and want to meet and ride together and I can’t wait to meet them all.

Red Oak, NC Bean was adopted from foster care in 2009 by Shelley Milburn (you can see him in the ad below). Bean was quite the model and local celebrity. He was featured on their business’ billboard and yellow page ads since 2009. He was featured in the 2019 Saving Grace calendar as Mr. February. Bean went to work every morning with his mom, Shelley, and stayed by her side until it was time to go home. He always greeted everyone with a smile. Bean just celebrated his 16th birthday this month (June) and on Monday morning, 20 June 22, Bean crossed over the bridge. We’ll miss you Mr. Bean!

”Roll Me Away Jesus” Are there certain roads that you love riding on to a certain destination? I have 3 or 4 different destination roads I love to ride. One particular route travels 333 miles from my location here in Kenly, N.C. It is just over 5 1/2 hours of ride time. I’d saddle up early before Sunrise but not before a hearty breakfast. Rolling full throttle on a start of the route that fast tracks as many miles of the highest speed limit. As many miles of staggered white lines under my bike until a lunch break. Roll up on a small country road now to a hometown cafe. Listening to it’s hometown chatter of the residents stories, then now energized to ride to the base of this destination, less than 75 miles away. This song enters my mind and Spirit...“Roll me away” By Bob Seger. “Took a look down a westbound road, right away I made my choice...

Headed out to my big two wheeler, (I actually ride an HD Triglide), I was tired of my own voice...And just rolled that power on...Rolling across the high plains deep into the mountains felt so good to me finally feeling free...Stood alone a mountain top staring at the great divide. I could go east I could go west, it was all up to me to decide. Just then I saw a young Hawk flying and my soul began to rise, and pretty soon my heart was singing. Roll, roll me away, I’m gonna roll me away tonight, gotta keep on rolling, gotta keep on riding to keep searching until I find what’s wrong and what’s right. And as the sunset faded, I spoke to the faintest first starlight, and it said next time we’ll get it Right.” I’m now rolling into a place to bed down for the night, to be up early to ride before sunrise to be at my destination. Am there now in position to be suspended in time to do nothing but watch for the Sun to rise from beneath the horizon and experience God’s recreation of creating the universe for His word in His presence. Hi, I’m JayBird aka “SnapShot” and “Riding With JayBird” is my new column in Behind Barz Magazine. I’m just a guy with a motorcycle that loves to ride and enjoy life! That’s what life is all about for me... it may not be for everyone but I’ve found that the love, brotherhood, and freedom of “biker life” is absolutely my way to live! As bikers, we all understand that living on the edge is inheritantly dangerous and we ALL take that risk when we get on our bikes... but the reward of LIVING FREE is worth that risk! There’s a saying that goes, “ its not about the amount of years in your life, it’s about the amount of life in the years you live”.

DO YOU RIDE? DO Y Over 3 years ago, to brand me and sell bikes, I started using “Do you ride? Do you wanna ride??” I helped dreams become reality with the purchase of a first bike and/ or multiple bikes. I made lots of great friends who share the same interest, Riding. It worked!! I had the logo copyrighted and the trade mark is approved as this goes to print. My brand, thru my newly formed business Drunk Sally is here. I get asked all the time “what or who is Drunk Sally?” There was drinking involved, imagine that. Great time and friends at Bike week. The name stuck. The business name is based on the HAT and the BIKE. They are a team, lol. Do you ride? From The Mind of Hello My Happy People!

Well folks, I hit 46 years old this past June. I also hit my 10 year anniversary with the club. Kinda standing back looking at life and just feeling it. Two major mile stones in my life. I know folks say it’s at 50, but not for me. 46 years old is a big deal to me. This was the age my Dad was when he passed away. I didn’t live with him during the time he found out about the cancer. I moved out of my folks house just before I turned 18 years old. I just got my G.E.D and had my eye set on joining the Marine Corps. I was excited to say the least. I always wanted to be a Marine. I wanted to be something other than the little Kinston street punk that I was. I was always in trouble. I was always making the wrong decision growing up. I wanted to prove I could be more...but When I got kicked out of high school. It sucked because that last year in high school I finally caught on. I finally figured out I was capable of doing some good work. Everything just lined up for me. It was like I finally awakened. But some girl at high school told lies that started a big fight and my high school plans went to the trash. After getting my GED I knew where I was going and I did. I went to the Marine recruiting building and talked to a recruiter. I was lining myself up for taking the test. I was a ball of energy. I knew what I wanted to be when I was 13 years old and being a Marine was it. I was so excited I called Dad and told him. “Dad, guess where I just left from?” He asked, “where?” I said, the Marine recruiting office. I remember well that phone call...There was silence on the phone then that was followed with get your ass over here. That night was horrible. Dad carried me and my brother to a little pool hall by skinners bypass. He sat me down and told me the horrible news. What he thought was lyme’s disease was actually cancer. He told me he had less than a year. I didn’t know how to process this information. I was a kid in the head during that time. He made me promise, I wouldn’t join the military. He said, he was going to die but he wanted to know that his blood and sacrifice was all our government was going to get from him. That his sons where not going to do the same. I didn’t know what to do. I was lost after that. I didn’t have no skills, nothing I was interested in. I knew how to weld, but I didn’t really want to be a welder. I didn’t know what in the hell I wanted to be. I just kinda drifted like that white feather on the movie Forrest Gump. I fell in to my career because, Harley, my little girl was born and it takes real money to take care of a family. I had to grow up and grow up fast.

Dad died on April 23rd of 1995. He was 46 years old. He had a young family, my brother Ed and my little sister Wendy. He was finally living a settled down life with his family and big ol’ garden in the back yard. He loved working and taking the canoe out in the river. He had did his time in Vietnam and he was finally leaving it behind him. He was going to grow old and.... puff...gone.

Big Ed... I had him on a pedestal for most of my youth. I admired him, and I didn’t care that he wasn’t around when I was a small kid. I just knew I was different from my folks and he and I had so much in common. He was a man skilled in numerous trades, smart and mechanically inclined. He could weld and knew a lot about electricity. He loved to pan for gold and loved nature. He was a biker and very comical. If he liked you...you knew it...if he didn’t...you knew it, too. He was quick to smile and hit you in the face, someone once told me. He’d do it with a grin. He hated lazy people. He had worked hard all his life and felt pride in it and he loved God. At 46 he went home to be with God. So yeah, 46...it’s a different feeling for me. I always thought I’d be dead before 46. Just because.... but like him, I’m settled and I’m happy with my life and my family life. He probably saved my life making me change my course in life. I mean, if I didn’t. I probably wouldn’t be with the woman I love more than anyone or anything in this world. I have beautiful children and God.. God also had a plan for me...God has always had a hand in my life even when I’ve had my doubts. I’m thankful, and I’m humble to be here. So it’s forward from here...time to see how far I can go. I know where I’m going when I’m gone. So time to live a happy life while I’m here. To Be in the present... something that’s so difficult for me to do...but I’m trying. Life moves on. I’m also looking at 10 years of being a brother of Unspoken Sons MC. I can definitely write a book if I told all the experiences I’ve had with my second family. I got introduced to the club by my brother, Duece. I met him by chance at a restaurant in Kinston. I told him I was interested in joining a club. What I didn’t realize was that their club house was in the center of a place I grew up in as a child. The first time I went to the clubhouse, I fell in love with it. The bikes all parked out in front. The lined up chrome and ape hangers just did it for me. I didn’t really know anyone there, but it didn’t matter. They took me right on in. I knew right from the start, I wanted to prospect for the club, and the adventure went from there. I had friends, I grew up with all my life. They didn’t understand my wanting to join the club. Some even turned their backs on me because of it. So I figured out real fast, that to be happy in life you can’t live your life for someone else. To be truly happy, you have to be happy with yourself. You got to make your own path. Not everyone is your friend. Not everyone is your fan. When they drop you in that 6ft hole. You are going in it alone. So I didn’t need nobodies approval. Don’t like it. Bye.

10 years, I got close to my brothers. Loyalty to the club became my way of life. What’s said there, stays there. Well it was for me. When I patched out, I patched on my Birthday. It was like being reborn. No, not reborn in christ. Which I am. But no, I was reborn into a family. I take family seriously. I saw these brothers as just that. You are now my family ‘til I die. If brothers leave, they leave. Just like uncles or aunts getting a divorce. Y’all may not be in the club presently, but you were and still are family. If you are out bad, well...to me that’s the same category as death. You are dead to me. Maybe that’s taking it too seriously, but family is a bond in blood. If you’ve done something bad enough to get out bad. You are dead to me. I can’t see it any other way. I love my club. Once you earned it, that’s a time investment. Time is all we really have in this world. Your land and house and cars they can all be easily taken away. Miss a payment. It’s gone. Don’t pay taxes on it. It’s gone. So time is all you really have and once you’ve used it you can never get it back. So you need to value your time. You need to spend it on things worth spending it on. I don’t regret a minute of spending my time with my brothers at Unspoken Sons. I hate that I miss things due to work, but you gotta eat, and children ain’t cheap. I’m proud of my 10 years. I’m happy to have this club in my life. Its changed me and in a way gave me another purpose. I love rolling deep and the pipes just fill the atmosphere around us. I love the bond and how we all got each other’s back. No matter what obstacles are in our way. I’m proud to be a LOCO crew. Well folks, I will hit y’all up again in the next article. THE LONG JOURNEY HOME... I always wanted to be a biker! No, I was not born that way; I was influenced at an early age and it has stayed with me all my life. At the age of 12, I was considered old enough to babysit my two younger siblings. “The Parents”, as we came to call them much later in life, would go out every once in a great while and I would be placed in charge. I was DEFINITELY NOT ready. On one of these special occasions, after the siblings had gone to bed, I was turning the dial on the black and white television set, and what jumped onto the screen but “The Wild Ones, starring Marlon Brando!” I was immediately thrilled and settled down to enjoy what I was positive “The Parents” would vehemently object to me watching. Thus began my life long love affair of wanting to be a biker and owning a genuine old fashioned, black biker leather jacket! So, when people argue over television and movies influencing children, I can honestly say, “Yes, it does!” It has taken me five years of college, three years as a Band Director, twenty-plus years in the Marine Corps, two metric bikes and in 2006 my first Harley to get to where I am now. The dream has always been there; sometimes hidden beneath the surface always waiting and dying to get out. While growing up I would always tell people, “Some day I am going to ride into Harley-Davidson USA on my own Harley!” People would laugh or say things like, “Yeah right! “ But in June, at the age of 70, that dream became a reality! I started out on my trip to Indianapolis, Indiana to have a reunion with my Marine family...the 1st Marine Division Band, Camp Pendleton, CA. We were together from 19801985.

A Marine’s Ride to Harley-Davidson USA JUNE 6 Harley-Davidson Museum ~ Milwaukee, Wisconsin I got to tell my story to one of the museum staff? Well, turned out she is Lynda Red Fletcher, the Visitor Experience Lead at the Harley-Davidson Museum. I was wandering around when she found me and guess what? I was (wait for it) introduced to BILL DAVIDSON, yep owner of HarleyDavidson!!! He thanked me for my service, my life-long love of the brand, my dedication to HOG, and for being a part of the Harley-Davidson family!!! I damn near passed out! This has been and is the trip of a lifetime folks! I met this rider from Las Vegas and she said, “I saw you with Bill Davidson and you were in tears and I was in tears for you!” We were photographed in front of the “Wall of Tanks” in the Harley-Davidson Museum. Folks, it don’t get much better than that!

JUNE 9 I’ve spent the last 5 hrs here in Harleyland. I am very glad I got here early in the late afternoon because this is the biggest Bike Nite I have ever been to or seen. Rows and rows and blocks of motorcycles as far as you can see! From what I can tell it’s a MASSIVE social affair and it includes not only HUNDREDS of Harleys, but Indian, Ducati, BMW, Spyders, and many others. And, unlike mine, ‘cause I’ve been on the road since May 31st, these bikes are all washed and “show boating.” This is so big they even have TV news crews are here!! Milwaukee HOG took me to dinner, regaled me with stories and kept me laughing. Combat Vets Association were just wonderful to me. As usual, I just keep meeting the best of people/bikers, and retired law enforcement and former/retired military everywhere I go. As it is now time to return to the hotel, I can’t help but thank my Heavenly Father for the extraordinary trip this has been. God made sure that between my Marines, and the people I met, I would be in the best of hands. On June 13th I made it home safely to hot as heck, Virginia. I am blessed.

Recap of Freebee Friday 20 May during the 2022 Spring Rally! This was a fun and exciting day all around. The Harley Shop at The Beach was filled with hundred’s of Harley-Davidson’s and free raffle tickets for those who wanted to participate. The Fayetteville autism Rally Wingmen MC Fayetteville, NC Late last year we, The Wingmen Fayetteville Chapter, wanted to do something more to give back to the community. For the last 40 years we have been organizing The Fayetteville Toy Run and have worked along side Urban Ministries. Every December we collect toys for the children of Fayetteville. We wanted to put together another big event that will hopefully last 40+ years. ​ We got together and decided on doing an event for Autism, The Fayetteville Autism Rally. We contacted the local Autism Society here in Fayetteville and they were extremely excited about the idea. We started organizing The Autism Rally in January. We reached out to local businesses and asked them if they would be willing to sponsor the event. Many businesses were supportive. Our major supporter’s and donor’s were Kraken Skulls, UPS, O’Reillys, and Accurrence Insurance, all of whom donated generous amounts. Other numerous businesses and individuals also donated funds and/or items for a silent auction. Kraken Skulls in Fayetteville was also gracious enough to provide the location. ​We wanted the rally to include a bike show, food trucks and vendors. With all proceeds going directly to The Autism Society of North Carolina. In total, The Wingmen MC raised $8,500.00 for Autism Society of North Carolina. We plan on making this an annual event each April, because April is Autism Awareness month. We are looking forward to continuing to make this rally bigger and better to support the families and individuals the Autism Society supports.

The Proposal

Our days are spent hunting and fishing, as you can see from the photos here. We live it! It is our passion! Darron wanted to go hunting on this afternoon (17 Nov. 2021) in the stand that he put up just for me. Nice day, 74° and a sunny, blue sky above. We got in the stand and I looked at

the time just as I always do ...4:16 pm. I loaded my gun and got situated in my seat and then looked out the window. I saw a couple of Squirrels chasing each other around. I heard the calming sounds of the forest all around us. I looked all the

way down to where the trail cam was, about 100 yards away. Then watched the Squirrels some more. Then looked back towards the trail cam again and noticed something above it. A sign maybe? I told Darron, “Look at that!” He just grinned at me with those big

blue eyes. I thought someone had found our hunting spot. He asked, “what does it say?” I couldn’t tell what it read so, I looked through the scope. I read it out loud to him. It blew me away!


Synopsis of How and Why We Met Some of you may be wondering why Bigfoot is on the Contentz page of this issue. If you were at our wedding or saw our wedding video by Jason Gupton or saw our wedding photos by Melynda Snead then you may already know why. But for those of you who do not, well, here goes.... Years ago when I was between the ages of 12 and 13 I was riding in a car being driven by my mom. I was in the passenger seat and my younger brother was in the back seat. It was at night on a rural road in Nash County. Bigfoot stepped out from a wooded area on the right side into the middle of the road. My mom slammed on the brakes! He stopped dead in his tracks and stared at us. We stared back. There were no houses around. No other cars on the road. It was really dark. Just the headlights were illuminating Bigfoot right in front of us! After what seemed like forever, he walked to the shoulder and jumped across the ditch. Needless to say, we were beside ourselves. We did not live but maybe two miles away, as the crow flies. We were crying and shook up when we told my dad what had happened. He calmed us down somewhat and kept telling us that it was just a bear.

As an adult I have seen many bears in the wild and what we saw that night was NOT a bear! I am sure of that. Darron, was about the same age (13-14) I was when he and a friend were in the same block of woods hunting. They were walking together carrying their hunting rifles when Bigfoot ran across in front of them maybe fifteen or so yards away. It was a clear, sunny day. They were in shock and just stood there frozen. They both saw the same thing. In both instances Bigfoot was on two legs, bipedal. Never on four, as a bear would be. Now, Darron and I did not know each other. He was a year ahead of me in school and knew of me but I didn’t know of him. It was during some time in 2015 that I stopped at a local convenience store for gas and noticed a truck parked in front of the building with a small magnet that read, “I Break for Bigfoot” I thought it was cool and waited for the owner of the truck to come out of the store to find out where they had gotten the magnet.

That person just happened to be Darron. When I asked about the magnet he said I want to tell you a story but don’t laugh. He went on to tell me about seeing Bigfoot as a boy, while hunting. I started laughing, of course, because I had seen Bigfoot, too. But Darron thought I was laughing at him. I told him my story and we were both totally taken aback by the similarities and location...the same block of woods! I was dating someone at the time so I did not keep in contact with Darron but ran into him again in 2018. We started talking, and then dating. So now you know the rest of the story and why Bigfoot was at our wedding. Right after we said, “I do” and the Rev. Chris May introduced us as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Bigfoot came out from under the bridge, dancing to “Stayin’ Alive”, by the Bee Gees. He approached Darron and I and knelt down in front of us. He held up a bouquet of flowers for me...he was two minuted too late! I shook my head and clung to Darron. Bigfoot looked disappointed but got over it quickly. He then took some fan photos, hugged some of the ladies, and dissappeared.


We know that everyone’s wedding is special but everyone who was a part of our wedding or had a hand in our wedding made ours so very special! Thank you! We love you! To our family and friends...your love, support, and encouragement, have helped make us who we are today and for that we are forever grateful!
