INDO-JAPAN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP DURABLE AND RELIABLE

The geopolitics of the this region is undergoing rapid transformation due to the complex interplays amongst regional and global powers. In these strategic calculations of the Indo-Pacific geopolitics, India can be ‘an indispensable partner’. China’s aggressive designs in regional issues may propel both India and Japan to find more synergy to jointly cope up with this new challenge

MAJ GEN CP SINGH (RETD)

The Indo-Japanese friendship is as durable as any Japanese product and as valuable as emotional relations, in India. The friendship between India and Japan has history of 1,400 years based on spiritual affiliation and strong cultural similarities. Contacts between India and Japan began some 1,400 years ago when Buddhism spread upto Japan and during these 14 centuries, the two countries have never been adversaries/rivals. Over the years, the two countries have built upon these values and created a partnership based on principles and pragmatism.

GLOBAL

PARTNERSHIP IN 21st CENTURY

India’s relationship with Japan is on a very strong and stable pedestal. Both countries share democratic and pro-peace, propeople outlook and easily qualify to be natural allies. The India-Japan relationship, founded on the principle of mutual trust and benefit has gained strategic prominence in 21st Century. In the geostrategic context, Indian and Japanese security perceptions converge in the region with common apprehensions about China. Both countries understand the WIN –WIN equation of this global partnership.

QUAD

The Indo-Pacific region emerges as a centre of global strategic importance. Initially, it started

as a humanitarian partnership in 2004, QUAD initiative has developed as an important forum to address the security issues in the Indo-Pacific region, today. The geographic positioning provides great strategic advantage to both countries (India & Japan) against China and they are set to play a pivotal role in IndoPacific region, under the umbrella of QUAD.

ECONOMIC COOPERATION

India and Japan had very good

bilateral trade relations in the past. Japan’s interest in India is increasing due to a variety of reasons including India’s large and growing market and its vast resources, especially the human resources. Suzuki Motor Corporation’s path breaking investment in India in 1980s revolutionized the automobile sector, bringing in advanced technology and management skills to India. The trade imbalance between India and Japan is narrowing gradually with Indian exports to Japan rising each year. Economic relations between India and Japan have vast potential for growth, given the complementarities.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Present Indian Government’s quest to create world class infrastructure in the country already has significant Japanese footprints. India has been the largest recipient of Japanese loans in the last decade. Delhi Metro is one of the most successful examples of Japanese cooperation. Presently, six Metro Rail projects are being implemented with technical and financial support from Japan. Besides, Japan wishes to build HighSpeed Railway in India as the flagship project of Japan-India

WIN –WIN EQUATION

The India-Japan relationship, founded on the principle of mutual trust and benefit has gained strategic prominence in 21st Century. friendship. Post COVID, large number of Japanese industry are gradually shifting their manufacturing bases from China. India with new infrastructure, is well poised to provide a robust alternative.

DEFENCE ALLIANCE

Geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific is in a state of flux and new contours are emerging post COVID and in the backdrop of Ukraine war. Rise of China has contributed to the changing equation between India and Japan. India and Japan in their respective regions are naval powers of repute. India with its dominant strategic location and a strong navy aspires to be a net security provider in the Indian Ocean Region.

arrangement of 2+2 Dialogue only with USA and Now, with Japan. In the last decade, all the three components of armed forces have started to engage in bilateral joint exercises. The frequency of such engagements is increasing every year. Joint training exercises by QUAD members are giving sleepless nights to powers in Beijing.

RECENT SYNERGY IN RELATIONS

India and Japan relationship has significantly advanced over the past decade. Convergences in geo-economic and geo-strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific have brought the two countries closer than ever before. Japanese Prime Minister Mr Fumio Kishida recently visited India in March 2023 and announced a new plan for a ‘free and open Indo-Pacific’ pledging $75 billion

to assist the economies in the region, by 2030. Both Modi and Kishida welcomed the formulation of a roadmap to further promote industrial cooperation between the two countries.

CONCLUSION

The world’s economic and political “Centre of Gravity” shifts to the Indo-Pacific and Asia from USA and Europe in the 21st Century. The geopolitics of the this region is undergoing rapid transformation due to the complex interplays amongst regional and global powers. In these strategic calculations of the Indo-Pacific geopolitics, India can be ‘an indispensable partner’. China’s aggressive designs in regional issues may propel both India and Japan to find more synergy to jointly cope up with this new challenge. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY

Congress’s social media often has to face challenges from BJP on a range of matters regarding the Nehru family and Rahul Gandhi.

Jaipur: Rajasthan

Housing Board has created another milestone in its glorious journey as it has become the first government body in the country to register 100 projects under RERA. To celebrate this achievement, RHB organised a programme at the Board HQs on Thursday, wherein, RERA Chairman NC Goyal was also present.

RHB has set a great journey in the last 4 years, where the Housing Board has successfully completed its motto of providing housing to the common man, while also bringing many unique projects to the ground.

Various key officials including the Chairman of RERA were present in the event and the achievement was celebrated by cutting a cake.

During this, NC Goy-

al also honoured the Housing Board personnel, who did good work by giving them memento. Goyal said that this achievement of the Housing Board is extremely big. “Even if the projects of all pri-

vate builders are combined, the Housing Board is on top in getting the projects registered. This is generally not expected from a government body, but the Housing Board has got 100 projects registered,

which is a big deal for this achievement,” Goyal said and congratulated the RHB Commissioner Pawan Arora and his entire team.

He further said, “RERA has been formed keeping in mind the in-

terests of the consumers. The work done by the Housing Board in the last 4 years during the tenure of Pawan Arora is unimaginable.

I have been watching the development of Jaipur for the last 25

years. During this time it was never expected that the Housing Board would ever be able to do such a large scale and good quality work and such a variety of work, but in the last 4 years, the Housing

Board has broken this myth, which is commendable.”

Meanwhile, addressing the programme, RHB Commissioner Pawan Arora said that the way ISI mark is important for a project, in the same way in real estate project, RERA number is important.

“Before the start of any project, registration in RERA ensures that the organisation is committed to complete the project in stipulated time. Apart from getting number of projects registered, it is also important that RHB has come up with so many schemes. RHB has got full support from RERA. The Board has provided good quality housing to a large number of people. Despite Corona, the housing scheme for teachers and policemen has been completed ahead of time,” Arora said and congratulated his team.

The RHB Commissioner further added saying, “RHB has achieved this feat due to the efforts of everyone involved. Four years ago, the condition of Housing Board was completely different. There was a challenge to sell about 20,000 houses. Along with selling, a large number of new houses have also been made available to the people, as well as more than one unique project has also been dedicated to the public. RHB’s revival was not possible without a political will. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had expressed his intention in the very beginning that the Rajasthan Housing Board has to regain its old glory. This intention of the Chief Minister has been fulfilled by the hard work of the Housing Board team under the leadership of UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal.”

Visit a doctor if you have any doubts about your health. Don’t attack stress even if you don’t have any. Let go of things that are not in your control. You want to have your own house and you will work hard to make your dream come true. Health remains perfect .

LEO

JULY 24 - AUGUST 23

You make sure to make things work your way. Never demotivate someone even if someone is not capable of doing something. You are most wanted by your friends. You can have romantic affair in office and a serious one. You will invest money in clothes and accessories today.

VIRGO

AUG 24 - SEP 23

Your spouse is someone who can do anything for your happiness. You are opportunist and this will make you successful one day. There may be delays in property possession and it won’t effect you. You are happy spending whole day at home.

Scrumptious food is what you are craving for today. You always maintain cordial relationship with everyone. You workout daily to keep yourself fit.

You may start a side business to earn extra money. You are not a jealous kind and you feel happy for others.

SCORPIO

OCT 23 - NOVEMBER 22

You will feel amorous towards your wife. This is the best time try something new with life give yourself a new purpose. Work on your limitations, there can be no better time than this. You have more opposite sex friends than the same and you may be judged sometimes but don’t care.

There is a constant and admittedly vital voice that demands rights for women and equal status as men. Having said that, it would be naïve to assume that men have it rosy.

Apropos it’s the very fact that men themselves continue to be victims of patriarchy, they subject the women in their life to patriarchy, resulting in a never-ending cycle of generational trauma and abuse.

It is the omnipresent and pervasive sexism, that a ‘man’ too, is held up to, and judged by a barometer that is undeniably unfair, unrealistic and quite frankly, unsustainable. I’m not in any way trying to minimize or compare it to the deep-rooted patriarchy that women suffer, but suffice it to say that a few incidents and examples will at least provide broad strokes of what I’m on about.

When I moved back to Jaipur from Mumbai at the end of 2013, I remember visiting the local wine shop. My wife Anuja, a staunch genderequalist who’d otherwise instinctively alight the vehicle and fetch the desired contraband in Mumbai, did not disembark! She explained that she wasn’t comfortable and that it would probably be wiser for me to procure the liquor. I followed the sage advice, only to realize that her behaviour would be the least surprising part of this moonshine drive! To cut a long story short, upon uncomfortably observing me having Gin packed, one of the many hangers-around at the wine shop decided to relieve himself of his simmering patriarchal rage, “Whisky nahi toh

People feel unsettled, bothered, conscious, awkward, and god-forbid there’s a ‘man’ seen to be ‘dandy’ and/ or, worse still, artistic & home-obsessed!

Is it unfair? You bet! Is it tough to deal with? Of course. It helps that, as a man, I am not subject to this scrutiny regularly, as opposed to my wife. I might even get the Father of the Year award to take care of my child while my wife takes two days off from her duties as a mother!

Over time and with a modicum of wisdom, one can, on occasion, even have fun with it – it may only serve to perplex conditioned onlookers more; at least Anuja & I have a vent, a chance to quietly and harmlessly protest, share a little inside joke, humanize the situation, and once in a blue moon, instigate a tiny shift. How? I always have the cheque at a restaurant redirected to my wife! When asked to move the car in a busy street, I always say

This finally brings me to arguably the most tragic fallout of patriarchy rearing its ugly head on men – a ‘man’ who admits he is experiencing any mental distress, is simply not ‘man enough’.

As the co-founder of our modest Mental Wellness Initiative Driveway Devi, and now firmly and fully entrenched in the cause of mental wellness, my deepest sympathies go out to men. Men who can never share their true feelings, emotions, stresses and anxieties. Men who have to seek therapy, literally use back channels where they ask for clinic service entrances to be left open for them (to facilitate hasty entries and exits ensuring they’re never seen), worse still, not having an environment that even allows for dialogue or discussion.

Over the past 11 years I’ve been teaching, it is a conscious endeavor of mine that aside from the communication skills I am propounding, I at least create that safe space for my students. A space and a dynamic where they are liberated, freed from the shackles of expectations & patriarchy. And it has worked. In so many cases, where boys especially, have gone on to confess, confide and develop the courage to be themselves. Shall we, can we, just place a brief pause on ‘papa kehte hain…’ and examine, listen, allow…. ‘bete kya kehete hain’?

Your spouse may make you spend more than you expected.

Fantastic day for investing money in stock market as you can make fortune. You need help on academic front and you should not shy away from asking. You miss your parents a lot and somewhere fear to loose them.
