We’d like to introduce our new podcast called The Reading Ramble - a regular podcast
brought to you by Lancashire Libraries. Episodes are released every fortnight through all major podcast providers, bringing you digestible audio delights, covering a range of subjects from heroes and villains in literature, through our favourite female writers, to the worst books we’ve ever read SCART Reading Challenge for Children Our SCART Reading Challenge is now in full swing and will run until the end of September. We are shouting from the rooftops this is free to join and we encourage every primary school aged child to register and complete five fun and interesting tasks to receive a lanyard and three pop badges. The different zones include science, culture, active, reading and technology with activity ideas to keep everyone entertained and most importantly engaged in reading over the summer. Pop into the library to join. It’s as simple as that! If you are unable to get into one of our libraries, this year we are offering a digital version of SCART Club, where you can take part in activities online, share your reading recommendations, and then collect your prizes from the library at a later date. To join SCART Digital, you will need to sign up for an account on Niche Academy by following this link www.lancashire.gov.uk/ libraries-and-archives/libraries/readingjourney/ We are hoping to hold some activity sessions to coincide with SCART this month, however they will be pre-booked sessions and will be run within household bubbles. Please just ask when you next make a visit. Home Library Service For those in the community who are unable to visit the library because of poor health, we offer the Home Library Service, where we pack a choice of books which our volunteers will deliver to the door. Again, this is a Covid secure service where strict measures are in place and which is proving more vital than
