DAY 1: Melbourne to Port Fairy
Today you set out on your Great Ocean Road adventure and experience one of the world’s most scenic, coastal drives. On the way you will pass through the picturesque town of Lorne with its buzzing arts community and Mediterranean atmosphere, makes for delightful stop. Continuing along you will find yourself in the charming fishing village of Port Fairy.
DAY 2: At Port Fairy
Venture out and explore on your free day to uncover the natural beauty and history of Port Fairy. Visit the famed Shipwreck coast, stroll the many heritage walks, and sample the freshest seafood. Alternatively, you can head out of town and explore the Port Campbell National Park. This region is world famous for the extraordinary collection of wave-rock formations including the iconic Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, The Grotto and the Gibson Steps.
DAY 3: Port Fairy to Grampians
Spend the morning exploring the diverse array of boutiques, antique stores, and craft shops that Port Fairy has to offer. Take a walk down to the port and watch as the fishermen unload their catch of crayfish and abalone. Later today you will head inland towards the twin peaks of mounts Sturgeon and Abrupt in Dunkeld, the gateway to the southern Grampians.
DAY 4: At Grampians
The day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Explore this grand old country region known as the Grampians. Offering a wide range of outdoor recreational activities that can be explored by foot or bicycle. You can head to the Henty Wine region with plenty of opportunities to sample some of Victoria’s best boutique wines and don’t forget to make a reservation at the Australia’s award winning restaurant Wickens at Royal Mail Hotel which books out weeks in advance.
DAY 5: Grampians to Melbourne
Today you will travel back to Melbourne and along the way you can pay a visit to the historic gold mining town of Ballarat. The town is the site of the world’s largest deposit of alluvial gold, where you can still pan for gold today and experience an authentic 1850’s gold mining settlement. Once you’ve arrived back into Melbourne drop off your rental car and head home.
