he foundation stone for the multinational Sulzer company was laid by Jakob Sulzer-Neuffert, who established a foundry at Winterthur, Switzerland in 1834. The company began by producing cast iron ingots but soon moved into the design and manufacture of products to meet the growing demands of the new industrial age.
