There’s also a chance to join a fascinating optional excursion to celebrated alpine retreat Kranjska Gora and the beautiful Triglav National Park. Set at the foot of the soaring Julian Alps, exquisite Lake Bled, surrounded by forested slopes and with its idyllic offshore island crowned by an exquisite Baroque church, is a treasure waiting to be discovered and explored. An included guided tour introduces the lake and the colourful resort that draws visitors to its shores. A second tour visits the beautiful Slovene capital, a Baroque gem straddling the River Ljubljanica, with its riverside walkways, elegant Triple Bridge and enchanting Old Town. A last included excursion crosses the verdant countryside, and visits one of the world’s most famous caves, the giant chasm at Postojna. Travel by train some two miles underground into a wonderfully illuminated nether world, and take in historic Predjama Castle, magically built into a sheer cliff face.
