How do I know if I am ready for GCSE? We will give you an online assessment and interview to decide which course is right for you. If you are not at GCSE level just yet, you can study Functional Skills in Maths and English at a level appropriate for you from Entry 3 through to Level 1. Functional Skills are nationally recognised qualifications and can be a stepping stone to GCSEs. Who’ll be teaching me? You will be taught by our highly qualified staff who are experts in their areas and will support you in reaching your goals. Where can I study You can study at either our St Albans or Welwyn Garden City campus. We offer sessions during the day and in the evening so your studies can fit around your work, family or other commitments.

Maths and English are available at St Albans and Welwyn Garden City during the day and evening. l GCSE Biology is offered at Welwyn Garden City Campus and attendance is one evening per week. l Functional Skills Maths and English are available at St Albans and Welwyn Garden City during the evening. l All courses run for 30 weeks.

Please note that to study GCSEs on their own at Oaklands College you must be aged 19 or over. If you are aged 16-18 you must be on a full time course to study GCSEs with us.

We realise the importance of Maths and English in daily life. Almost every job requires the ability to read, write and use numbers confidently.
