საფრანგეთის ელჩმა საქართველოში, პასკალ მენიემ ასევე გაგვიზიარა, თუ რას ნიშნავს შობა და საახალწლო ზეიმი ფრანგი ხალხისთვის: „შობა, უფრო, ოჯახური დღესასწაულია. ამიტომაც დავბრუნდი საფრანგეთში, რათა აღმენიშნა ეს ლამაზი დღე დედაჩემთან, ჩემს დასა და ქალიშვილთან ერთად. მოვრთეთ ლამაზი ნაძვის ხე და შობის ღამეს, მის ქვეშ, საჩუქრებს დავაწყობთ. წმინდა სილვესტრის დღესასწაული კი, უფრო, მეგობრების გარემოცვაში აღინიშნება. რისი სურვილიც გვაქვს - ვიზეიმოთ ახალი წელი ქართველ მეგობრებთან ერთად. რამდენიმე დღით ადრე, შობა თბილისშიც აღვნიშნეთ, საელჩოს თანამშრომლების შვილებთან ერთად.“

Pascal Meunier, French Ambassador to Georgia offered us a succinct answer when asked about what the Christmas and New Year celebrations means to the French people: “Christmas is more of a family holiday. That is why I returned to France to celebrate this beautiful holiday with my mother, my sister and daughter. We decorated a beautiful Christmas tree where we kept gifts on Christmas night. While the day of St. Sylvester is marked mostly in the midst of friends, we wish to have a new year together with our Georgian friends. Several days earlier, we celebrated Christmas in Tbilisi together with the children of Embassy staff.”
