Reunion en la Universidad Central de la Florida con el Gobernador Pedro Pierluisi con el Congresista de EE.UU. Darren Soto y Zoe Colon de UCF. San Juan, PR- En la visita a la Ciudad de Orlando en la Florida, el gobernador se reunió con el jefe de seguridad del Condado Osceola y evaluaron la posibilidad de establecer un acuerdo de entendimiento en el que ambas jurisdicciones puedan compartir información que ayude a capturar fugitivos. Igualmente, el primer ejecutivo estuvo en Miami donde participó de un foro sobre desarrollo económico en la Isla y se reunió con el alcalde de la ciudad. “Hay una conexión increíble entre Puerto Rico y Orlando, pero muy particularmente con este condado lo que causa que aunemos esfuerzos. Durante la reunión que sostuve con el alguacil del Condado Osceola, Marcos López, conversamos sobre la posibilidad de que tengamos un
Memorando o Acuerdo entre el gobierno de Puerto Rico y su oficina para compartir inteligencia, récords criminales, coordinar los arrestos de personas fugitivas o que cometen delito para así brindar mayor seguridad en ambos lugares”, comentó el gobernador quien estuvo acompañado de la directora ejecutiva de la Administración de Asuntos Federales de Puerto Rico (PRFAA, por sus siglas en inglés), Carmen Feliciano, al igual que de la directora regional de la agencia, Jessica Alcocer. Por su parte, López, primer puertorriqueño e hispano en ocupar el puesto, agradeció al gobernador la visita y expresó su interés de colaboración con Puerto Rico. “Tuvimos una conversación muy productiva sobre cómo la Policía de Puerto Rico
y la Oficina del Alguacil de Osceola podemos trabajar en conjunto para combatir el crimen. Aprecio mucho la consideración que el gobernador tendrá para evaluar este posible acuerdo de compartir información de inteligencia entre ambas agencias y así garantizar la seguridad de nuestros ciudadanos. Estoy seguro de que continuaremos trabajando en juntos”. Asimismo, junto al congresista Darren Soto, Pierluisi se reunió con el rector y vicepresidente de Asuntos Académicos de la Universidad Central de la Florida (UCF), Michael D. Johnson, la asesora senior del Puerto Rico Research Hub (PRRH) Zoé Colón y con la directora de mercadeo de la Asociación de Estudiantes de Puerto Rico, Aleyssa Arroyo.
Durante ese encuentro, Pierluisi y Soto conocieron de cerca los trabajos investigativos que realiza la PRRH y conversaron sobre las oportunidades de intercambio estudiantil universitario con la UCF. Igualmente, la posibilidad de establecer iniciativas de política pública a raíz de investigaciones del PRRH y aunar esfuerzos de desarrollo turístico con el Rosen College. Acto seguido el gobernador y el congresista se reunieron con líderes comunitarios. Al llegar a Miami, el gobernador se reunió con el alcalde Francis Suárez y participó como orador del Simposio sobre Puerto Rico en el que habló sobre el aumento en el desarrollo económico de la Isla y las oportunidades de inversión.

Reunion con el Sheriff del Condado Osceola Marcos López the position, thanked the governor for the visit and expressed his interest in collaborating with Puerto Rico. “We had a very productive conversation about how the Puerto Rico Police and the Osceola Sheriff's Office can work together to fight crime. I very much appreciate the consideration that the governor will have in evaluating this potential intelligence sharing agreement between the two agencies to ensure the safety of our citizens. I am sure we will continue to work together." Likewise, together with Congressman Darren Soto, Pierluisi met with the Chancellor and Vice President of Academic Affairs of the University of Central Florida (UCF), Michael D. Johnson, the senior adviser of the Puerto Rico Research Hub (PRRH)
Zoé Colón and with the marketing director of the Puerto Rico Student Association, Aleyssa Arroyo. During that meeting, Pierluisi and Soto learned about the investigative work carried out by the PRRH and talked about university student exchange opportunities with UCF. Likewise, the possibility of establishing public policy initiatives as a result of PRRH research and joining tourism development efforts with Rosen College. The governor and congressman then met with community leaders. Upon arriving in Miami, the governor met with Mayor Francis Suárez and participated as a speaker in the Symposium on Puerto Rico, in which he spoke about the increased economic development of the Island and investment opportunities.
