President’s Corner First and foremost, I want to wish every member and their family a Happy New Year! 2020 was filled with a number of challenges both for our club and for each of us individually, but I’m sure we will overcome these difficulties in the New Year. We cannot overlook that the COVID virus was the biggest single problem last year and has severely disrupted the Club’s Calendar. We are trying to make a comeback in 2021 by returning several events to the Calendar. Porsches and Pancakes has resumed as our monthly breakfast meetings and our Thursday Evening Socials are back on the Calendar. On January 17th the run to Islamorada will be held, and I’m sure it will be a big success as it is every year. Now that a COVID vaccine is available, I have high hopes of our resuming more events. That is of course if we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot! What I’m talking about is that we all know we’re part of the Porsche Club of America, and we are governed by their rules and regulations. Among those regulations are specific guidelines for any event under the auspices of the PCA, covering insurance and COVID waivers. For the most part, insurance is self-explanatory: any events where cars are moved around, including tours, Autocross, and Technical Events must be covered by liability insurance. We at Gold Coast have a similar set of guidelines as it relates to COVID. Any member or member’s family attending a PCA event must, MUST have signed the COVID waiver. This can be done when you register on Club Registration for the event, or the waiver can be signed when you arrive at the event, but it must be signed. Your Board of Directors and the volunteers who facilitate these events would prefer that each event be visible on Club Registration and that you sign the waiver as part of the registration procedure. Doing so will lead to less work on our part and less disruption for you. The COVID Waiver for smaller events such as Porsches and Pancakes will still have to be addressed and signed at the event. In an effort to meet the guidelines from now until PCA lifts the COVID waiver restrictions, every Event Coordinator will be required to

have COVID waivers available and signed by the attendees. It will also be their responsibility to ensure that social Peter Olliviere, President distancing be maintained. My focus in 2021 will be on strengthening proving that even with four doors, it’s our membership, and creating new and still a Porsche. The Specific Interest interesting Club activities. I will be Groups (SIG) will be coordinating presenting to the Board of Directors events specifically for their groups, several possible changes during the sharing each group’s experience in the coming year in order to embrace this focus.
