very enthusiastic in studying its basic principles and how it works in general. The idea seems to be very simple, but in the same time it has very deep meaning for people to regain their social strength. That is what I was watching during my practice in The Clubhouse. It was like home, members and staff in a very natural collaboration create a unique atmosphere, special climate of this place which makes you feel safe and secure. It seems to me that The Clubhouse is like “Perpetuum Mobile” which is running by its “inhabitants”, each one of them is equal and important. This practice gave me not only the opportunity to learn about this model of rehabilitation in mental health area, but also gave me unique experience and possibility to understand myself more and grow up professionally.

My name is Aleksei. I’m exchange student from St. Petersburg, Russia and I came to Finland to Turku University of Applied Science for one semester to study nursing. In The Clubhouse I had a practical part of my study. It was very unusual and interesting experience. There are no any places for rehabilitation of mentally ill people like this in Russia. So for me it was new information and I was

”I was really impressed”

My name is Fien. I´m 21 years old and I´m an exchange student from Belgium. I´m studying occupational therapy and now I´m following an internship in T-Halli in Salo. I´m visiting Salon Klubitalo for 3 days. In Belgium we don´t have a Fontainhouse, so this is all very new to me. The one thing that I was really impressed with, is how much freedom every member gets and how equel everyone is treated. ©Matti P

I have participated in the arts-group where I could admire everyone´s drawing skills. The teacher gives everyone an opportunity to express themselfs in art. I had the opportunity to meet with a member of Salon Klubitalo who has found his talent in this group and is now a real artist. I also participated in a cooking activity and had some time to talk with a couple of members. I like the mood that´s in Salon Klubitalo. It feels like a home where you can relax, spend your time with other people and discover new skills.

In Belgium we don´t have a Fountainhouse, but I´m certainly a supporter of it and maybe, one day, I can work in a Fountainhouse in Belgium! This is one of the many experiences I will take with me to Belgium. I really like Finland, its friendly inhabitants and of course its nature. It was really nice to develop myself here as a occupational therapist, but also to exlore this country. 13
