Have you noticed more animal sightings the past several years? Until recently, deer were rarely seen in SCOV until the Oracle Highway wild game overand underpass crossings were constructed in 2016. Since then, over 65 different species have been identified and over 350,000 photographs of animals have been catalogued by the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection, many taken in the Big Wash on the door step of our community. These cameras are checked monthly by a group of Sun City volunteers to monitor wild animal activity and then analyzed by the Coalition. The combination of weathering and an exceptional 2021 monsoon season causing damage meant that many of these cameras needed to be replaced. Your Foundation was Mike Froehner, Sun City volunteer pleased to participate in purchasing new cameras. Isn’t it fun to live amongst the wildlife–the animal kind, especially?

Items included in this section must be open to all residents and be either sponsored by the Association or be an annual club event of interest to the entire community. Check the website and “This Week in SCOV” for current information.
