Japanese flower arranging, Ikebana, is the art of arranging flowers, branch materials, grasses and leaves. At its core is the beauty resulting from a combination of color, shapes and graceful lines. More than simple floral decoration, it is a form of sculpture with plant materials. Learn from certified instructors at your own pace and make creative arrangements for your home.

If you have a knit or crochet project, or would like to learn to crochet plastic bags into sleeping mats, come and join us. An ongoing group project is making crocheted sleeping mats out of plastic shopping bags. We deliver these mats to the Gospel Rescue Mission for Tucson people who are experiencing homelessness. You can participate in this project by cutting the bags into strips, stringing them into plastic yarn (plarn) and/or crocheting them into mats.

Sun City Oro Valley Tipster, February 2022

Photo by Tom Prall Modelers love to share the fruits of their labors with the families who come to our four open houses each year as these folks did in December. But, visitors are welcome to come in any time we’re working in the club workroom in the Artisan Center. The history of the prototypes of the models we build is important to us. It adds to our appreciation of the miniature world we are creating and leads to more accurate representations. Presentations at our monthly meetings in Catalina Vista help us learn more about the planes, cars, boats, buildings and trains we build. On February 11, club member Bruce Dewald (USN retired) will talk about the role of the B-24 Liberator (PB4Y-1) in naval combat during WWII. All are invited to join us. This 45-minute talk will begin at 9 AM.
