SCOV Gift Shop Monday Madness Sale Mark your calendar for our sale with bargains galore including jewelry, wood, fused glass, pottery, fabrics, cards and much, much more. We set up in front of the Gift Shop. This is an easy and convenient way to shop while supporting your resident artists. We hope to see you.

Tuesday and Wednesday, March 1 and 2, 9 AM-Noon Bus Ticket Sales for The Tucson Festival of Books The Friends of the Library (FOL) has chartered a bus to the Festival of Books. The bus leaves behind the Welcome Center on Sunday, March 13, 8:30 AM and departs UArizona campus at 3:30 PM. Ride in comfort on a restroom equipped coach and avoid the expense and search for parking.

Purchase tickets in the Library lobby. $5, FOL members; $10, nonmembers

Wednesday, March 9, 10 AM Chris Enss and Friends Author Event Chris Enss, a New York best-selling author, script writer and comedienne along with Bill Markley and Phil Mills will speak at Catalina Vista about their numerous books about the men and women who shaped the American West. This collection also includes some western-themed children’s books. Several of their books will be available for purchase and signing after the event. This is a ticketed event. Tickets are free and are available in the Library.

Wednesday, March 9, 5-7:30 PM Joy of Dancing SC Starlight Dance Club presents a complimentary introduction to ballroom dancing especially for those who are curious and want to try something new at the AFC/Dance Studio. It is open to any SCOV resident who would like to join us for a fun evening with a one-hour lesson in basic foxtrot and rumba, followed by guided practice time. Dance partners will be available for single participants. Clean soft-soled shoes are required. Register by calling Beth Allen 248-763-6266 or email scovstarlightdance@ gmail.com.

Thursday, March 10, 1 PM Catalina Vista JA Jance Author Event New York Times best-selling and award-winning mystery author JA Jance returns to SCOV to speak and highlight her new novel, Nothing to Lose. JA Jance’s writing career spans three decades and includes more than fifty books in four different series. Nothing to Lose and other titles will be available for purchase and signing by the author following the talk. This is a ticketed event. Tickets are free and are available in the Library.

Arts & Crafts Fair Sign-Up SCOV artisans who would like to participate in the annual Arts & Crafts Fair, sign up outside the Gift Shop Monday, March 14, at 1 PM. This year’s fair will take place on Saturday, November 12, and remain an outdoor event in the Artisan corridor. Table fee is $35, limit of two tables.

Sunday, March 20, 3 PM Free Outdoor Concert The Tucson Klezmerados, a Klezmer band of SCOV residents, will perform lively, fun music for an hour on Sunday, March 20, 3 PM, on the plaza in front of the Gift Shop. Bring your chairs and enjoy.

Monday, March 21, 4 PM Fraud Seminar – Bank of the West This seminar at Catalina Vista will help you to avoid scammers either by phone or obtaining access to your computer. You must have a reservation to attend. Call Laura at 520917-4439 or Mary at 520-917-4438. The same information will be presented on March 23.

Tuesday, March 22, 8:30 AM SCOV Voting Results The Election Committee will retrieve the results from VoteNow, which is an independent, secure electronic voting service. The results will be reported to the Board and distributed throughout the community, posted on the website and in “This Week In SCOV.”

Sunday, March 27, 2 PM and 6 PM Big Guns The SCOV Variety Theatre’s rip-snorting two-act play will be performed at the Gaslight Music Hall on Sunday, March 27, with shows at 2 PM and 6 PM. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Gaslight Music Hall (hours 10 AM to 8 PM, 520-529-1000) or online at www.gaslightmusichall.com. Important new information: If you still have original tickets for Big Guns purchased back in 2020, contact Karen Alexander karen29alexander@gmail.com to arrange for a refund. Those original tickets will not be honored by the Gaslight Music Hall on March 27.
