Fitness Swim Contact: Dave Goodman goodman@sfu.ca Tue., Thu., Sat., 7-8 AM, AFC pool
The Fitness Swim Club allows swimmers to participate in a group swim workout. We generally swim 2,400 to 3,000 yards per workout, mostly freestyle. Some do more, a few less. Workouts are suitable for master swimmers, triathletes and those who would just like to participate in swim workouts. Please ensure you have medical clearance to participate in vigorous physical activity prior to joining. We welcome new members.
Pilates Mary Ayers 520-638-7916 scov.pilates@gmail.com Mon., 3 PM, Thu., 1:30 PM, AFC/Studio
To get the full benefits of Pilates, a person should understand the basic principles. It takes a little time and patience, as the exercises you perform may be different from others you are familiar with, but they are fun, interesting and challenging. Pilates can even become addictive. It teaches proper balance, breathing, how to focus on your core (your abdomen and back muscles) and movement control. The constant movement from one exercise to another results in your developing more strength and stamina. Even posture is improved. The spine lengthens and joint flexibility and mobility increase. SCOV has two experienced instructors who teach mat Pilates classes and they modify many of the moves for us, if necessary. The cost is only $8/class and annual club dues are $20 pp. Please stop by and watch a class. Call Mary.

A new tai chi class started March 31. If interested, call Alice Hutchison for information or to register. At the request of the instructors, tai chi masters Jose Hernandez Rivera and Donna Drazenovich, we are all to wear masks and participate in social distancing. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that involves slow focused movements. Because of the benefits for balance, strength, and improved breathing, it is an exercise especially suitable for seniors.

The Mixed Social Bridge Club plays contract bridge in an informal, relaxed and fun environment. We want everyone who comes to sit at a table and play bridge. So, if needed, we will make a table of three or have a player float from table to table. We start promptly at 8:30 AM; come a few minutes early to socialize and partner up. We have coffee, and members often bring goodies to go with it. We also have online games using Trickstercards.com. Please join us. We welcome new players. Partners Tuesday Night Bridge

A partner, $2 and good cards may win you some money. Come join us for 24 hands of rubber bridge (on some nights it may seem like 36 hands) and some camaraderie. If you bid and make a grand slam you can even get your picture in the Tipster My partner and I bid a grand slam, but decided we just didn’t look spiffy enough for the photo, so of course, we purposely failed to make it. No matter what your appearance or how lucky the cards, we guarantee a good time. Arrive at 5:45 PM to secure your table. Practice Bridge
