PHARR KICKS OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON WITH FIRST EVER WINTER WONDERLAND Ushering in the holiday season, the City of Pharr held its inaugural Winter Wonderland celebration on December 1st, transforming Downtown Park into a festive holiday spectacle SCAN HERE FOR for the entire community. The event, which FULL STORY included the city’s annual Tree Lighting, was a great success with over 10,000 people in attendance. Activities included live music, food and market vendors, photo opportunities, a carnival, snow sledding, Elf on the Shelf giveaways, and the arrival of Santa Claus!
BENEFIT: Providing Pharr families a fun and festive event to celebrate the arrival of the holiday season and adding to the city’s traditions.
We started the celebration of the holiday season with our first-ever inaugural Winter Wonderland along with various other celebrations throughout the month, each of which echoed the sentiments of pride and community, a true testament to the many great things Pharr has to offer its citizens. While many are busily preparing for the holidays, I would like to remind you to continue to support our local business community by eating local, shopping local, and taking part in our various local markets, all of which promote economic growth in our city. We thank all our business community for choosing Pharr and we are proud to be a resource for commercial development and economic prosperity.

CITY OF PHARR NAMES DR. JONATHAN B. FLORES AS CITY MANAGER The City of Pharr is proud to announce that it has named Dr. Jonathan B. Flores as City Manager, he had been serving as the Interim City Manager since earlier this year. A native of Pharr, Dr. Flores is a municipal government professional with over twenty-two years of diverse law enforcement experience. Since 2005, he has worked in various roles and assignments, such as patrol, criminal investigations, major crimes, and as Assistant City Manager/Chief of Police for the City of Alton. Congratulations, Dr. Flores!
As we end the year, I am thankful again for the many goals we accomplished and the new achievements that we celebrated. We made great strides and progress in 2023 and I am hopeful for the great things already in progress for 2024. Pharr continues to be a leader in the region as we close the digital divide, drive international trade, and continue to create community events that attract thousands from around the Rio Grande Valley.
BENEFIT: Creating stronger leadership for our city, staff, and community and reaching new goals for our City of Pharr.

The City of Pharr is proud to recognize the Media and IT Departments for winning awards at the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) Conference and at the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers (TATOA) Conference. The Pharr Media team earned 3 Government Programming Awards and the Pharr IT Department earned the 2023 Community Broadband and Digital Equity Award for Community Broadband Project of the Year at the NATOA Conference. At the TATOA Conference, the Pharr Media Department was a finalist in 9 categories and won 4 Programming Awards.
BENEFIT: Recognizing the outstanding talent of our city personnel and the positive news and exposure that they attract to the City of Pharr through their work.
