On the 15th of April, selected students of St Joseph School of Gagalangin ranked first out of three places in the ITCUP challenge with the theme, "The Power of IoT towards Digital Leadership " The school was represented by Adrienne R Cabochan, Ryu S Copiaco, and Ethan S Lim with the assistance of their coach, Mr. Esmeraldo Guimbarda Jr. The competition was held in De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde, Design and Arts Campus, and was attended by over 50 schools within Luzon This competition was open for Grades 7-10 students within TechnoKids Philippines' coverage
The challenge focuses mainly on the ability of the contestants to be innovative and strategic the game aims to design a robot and solve a color maze to get as far as possible However, what proved to be quite taxing was how inconsistent each run of the paths was, given that the robots were not remotely controlled; they were programmed
Determined to win and preserve their school's record, the contestants arranged days with their coach Mr Esmeraldo Guimbarda Jr , to train for the said competition. Guimbarda helped them create and design the optimal robot for their

A School To Remember, Journey As A Josephian
Shayne De Gala
It all started in June 2017 after the warm wind hugged my skin as I stepped off the Jeepney in front of St Joseph School I’ve always been terrified at the thought of a new school, entering new environments, and meeting new individuals But one thing always excites me about joining Junior High School at St Joseph School, “May aircon na ‘yung school ko, puputi na ako!” As someone who experienced colorism for my skin tone, it was something I looked forward to I didn’t care about what I would learn as I took another step toward my future school life I had only cared about how my new school could change my appearance
FFEATURE EATURE
I was alone on my first day of school My cold hands shivered stiffly despite the humid weather in this country With one final deep breath outside the gates, I was now inside the walls of St Joseph School I was part of the Dugtong Dunong Scholarship Program (DDSP), which allowed me to have a Catholic Education
Time flew by I met many people I did not expect to become a big part of my life until now I experienced a lot of pain, but as Fr Nolan A Que would say, “Discomfort is part of growing ” I didn’t even realize how I couldn’t hear the clock ticking over the volume of our laughter
As seasons change, feelings do too Being a student is difficult, but being a student in the middle of the pandemic is even more so Studying alone was unfamiliar to me I spoke to a device all day, my back ached from sitting in front of a monitor, and my eyes blurred with tears, not from staring too much at a screen but due to exhaustion
IS COVID-19 STILL HERE? OR IS IT THE END OF THE PANDEMIC?
Kate Buensuceso
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease, caused by SARS-CoV-2, discovered in 2019 Infected people with the virus typically experience mild to severe respiratory illness This virus can spread in multiple ways Anyone infected can cause it to spread to others, even if the infected person does not show any symptoms The closer and longer you interact with others, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spread
Yet, nowadays, it appears that our lives are back to normal Some people do not
wear face masks anymore, even in crowded places It seems as if people know how to manage it and even self-cure themselves
However, the question remains: Is the pandemic REALLY over?
Public health officials agree that the end of the pandemic is in sight, but not here yet The truth is, there are still a lot of variants out there, and they can be new or old The virus is continuing to change Therefore, the pandemic is not yet over, but people can overcome it by
I missed my friends and how we laughed at the minor things; I missed St Joseph School Stuck at home for three years, I did my best to socialize, get high grades like I ought to, and be comfortable on my own
Soon, it all ended The hardships were finally rewarded I was free from the four corners of our house Things went back to normal, or did it? It was like what I felt on my first day of Junior High School Thoughts of how people would view me clouded my mind Would they tell me to change my appearance, or would they tell me I was pretty? They didn’t Instead, they welcomed me by saying, “Kinakabahan ako sa introduce yourself.” It was almost like a fast-paced relationship in school, and we are now two months away from graduation
MUSIKABATAAN:
ROMANTICIZING LIFE THROUGH OPM
In and of itself, teenage emotion is intrinsic as it can be Sometimes, it can even be in its rawest form when teenagers open their music app, higher the volume of their device, and lower the volume of the outside world And as we all know, the Filipino language has a certain emotion or element that is way distinctive compared to other languages With teenage sentimentality and our mother tongue merged, we get the pure bliss that is
getting vaccinations As people gain immunity, the infection rate slows, eventually favoring other variants to spread rapidly
COVID-19 is still a threat No one can predict when a new variant will come Not all COVID-19 variants are well-understood Even now, there are many unanswered questions Nevertheless, the best answer and form of protection we have is to be vaccinated Vaccines are the key to preventing severe illness There are also basic things you can continue to do to protect yourself, for example, wearing face masks, practicing social distancing, sanitizing contracted surfaces, and maintaining proper hygiene
OPM, or what we call Original Pinoy Music
The music industry in the Philippines has been alive and breathing for quite some time now, with numerous up-and-coming Filipino artists releasing music back to back With this fact aside, romanticizing life as a Filipino teenager is as easy as pretending to be the protagonist in your movie Here are some recent OPM songs that would definitely feed your main character vibe:

Social media has become a platform where almost everything is highly accessible to everyone, including people with a retail frenzy Electronic commerce, what we more generally call “online selling” or “online shopping,” is Generation Z’s latest craze nowadays, personally seeking what they want to own Numerous sites, such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, paved their influence online and used them as people’s go-to channels for purchasing their wants and other necessities
With the massive wave of COVID-19 cases that surfaced in 2020, the masses stayed indoors due to the rising numbers of infected Following the stigma of outside infection rates, most services became catered to people at home door-to-door swab services, food delivery services, ayuda distributed by local government officials, and many more The atmosphere became quite nostalgic since the pandemic brought us the term “ new normal” as it introduced us to trends that we currently apply And if there’s one thing that is certain to remain from this generation, it has to be online sellers
Have you ever encountered a time when you were scrolling through your TikTok FYP page, and suddenly, a live video of a person pops up wherein they are selling random merchandise or clothing? Yes, these are what we call online sellers In the
Fallen by Lola Amour
“What if I told you that I’ve fallen?”
Having a suppressed interest in someone within the four corners of your classroom or the school campus is no foreign feeling at all, but Fallen by Lola Amour amplifies this feeling as the lyrics convince you to actually go for it With the jolly instrumentals, you might actually find yourself confessing to your crush out of the blue
Bahala Na by Kenaniah
“Di bale na, sino ba naman ako para piliin niya, 'di ba?” Kenaniah embodies the “sad boy” or “sad girl” phenomenon that is currently resonating with most Filipino teenagers with how he wrote the lyrics of Bahala Na If you are currently dealing with the push and pull of your own feelings toward your crush, that most likely does not acknowledge your existence, a listen would be delightful
Bawat Kaluluwa by IV of Spades
“Aking ngang inaasahang, hindi mawawala ang kawalan sa iyong kaluluwa”
Love songs aside, a modern masterpiece and eye-opener is the song that is Bawat Kaluluwa by IV of Spades Being a part of the youth in this century requires more than voicing out rather, acting on what we believe in You could eventually say that this song is the youth’s revolution wrapped in a four-minute song
Ayaw by Syd Hartha
“Hindi ako papel na blangko, sulat-sulatan kung kailan mo gusto” Coming from a more sensitive topic, Syd Hartha empowers women to know how to say the word “no” to all those who oppress them So, women, if you ever feel like the messed up system or regimen is pulling you back, it is never a crime to stand up for yourselves with poise and power
Bukod-Tangi by UNIQUE
“Oh, ang pagkakakilanlan, unti-unting naglalaho Muli pa ba akong mabubuo?”
The philosophy of UNIQUE’s songs is greatly conveyed through his odd perspectives on life However, the upbeat music counters the sad lyrics giving the listeners a sense of “It’s okay that we fail sometimes, we can move on, eventually” If stepping out of your comfort zone gives you more fear than strength, remember that this song exists and that you are not alone
Philippines, eCommerce rose once shopping sites (such as OLX, Zalora, Lazada, Shopee, etc ) became popularized It then resulted in small business owners finding it more innovative to sell their products through the help of advanced technology, hence online selling livestreams circulating through the Internet
Online shopping is the talk of the town within the K-Pop community, and it is something similar to the public’s fascination with buying general merchandise through the Internet Usually, a product is posted alongside its commodity description, indicating whether it is worth the price or not
Johnna, an 18-year-old K-Pop fan, says, “Actually, as a K-Pop fan, there is a huge accomplishment whenever I have the chance to mine the product that I want firsthand I usually do some trial and error on my internet speed so I can be the first buyer of the photocard that I prioritize on purchasing ”
The term mine is commonly used by buyers interested in a specific product that they want With the huge wave of trending products in the market, it is no surprise that there are huge engagements in products that are sold online, wherein people usually flood the comments and chat messages, calling dibs before the seller runs out of stock
“It’s actually funny to think how there is a sudden surge of online sellers and buyers when in fact, way before, I have never invested so much into buying products online since I have no idea what the product’s condition is,” Johnna said “To be honest, nothing else other than K-Pop had me over in shambles when I was not able to claim the product I was aiming to claim ” , the K-Pop fan and online buyer added
As we may observe, there is a bright future ahead for online sellers and small business owners, especially living in a generation where retail therapy is considered an umbrella term for the act of buying things intuitively or inherently With the growth of the economy, there is no denying that the younger generation plays a big part in how it is currently circulating like gossip within people’s mouths “Obsession” as some may view it, but “following one ’ s heart” as others may counter it

FFEATURE EATURE THE JOSEPHIAN DIADEM THE JOSEPHIAN DIADEM GENZ:
As members of Gen Z, we encounter different lifestyles, hobbies, habits, and personalities throughout our lives While each of its members has a lot of differences and similarities, we must never forget our hobbies Today, we can discover different hobbies and interests on the internet Other collections can be found from this generation, from books, figurines, photocards, gadgets, antique items, and even cars
Photocard collecting has become a hot issue in the Philippines within the past few weeks First of all, what is a photo card? A photocard is an inclusion from an album or official merchandise of K-pop idols Photocards have a significant impact on collectors Some photocards have small or fewer values, but some may be extremely expensive too, depending on which has more demand Photocard collecting may also be costly; some may be bought from other collectors, and the value may increase or decrease Some photo cards can also be purchased through an auction K-pop stans are willing to buy their socalled "prio pc" or their "most prioritized photocard" in an auction and are eager to bid higher to get their "prio pc" home As I interviewed one of these K-pop stans, she said that the feeling wherein you were able to have your "prio pc" home is so satisfying at the same time that unboxing a parcel gives her happiness, as does leave a review and talking to the seller "It gave me happiness; it lifted my mood instantly as soon as the courier arrived The feeling of unboxing the parcel is still surreal, and the screaming and laughter I experienced just because of that mere piece of paper are still priceless "
Book collecting is also another addicting collection As a bookworm, the scent of a newly bought book is on a whole other level, with the bonus fact that the book can sit pretty on your shelves Some bookworms also stated that seeing a bunch of books stacked up on a shelf is so satisfying We can't deny that many are so worthy of being displayed, especially those with a pretty cover and a very mesmerizing plot Cassandra Caturay, a Grade 9 Student, even said that the advantage of book collecting is that it can also serve as a rest for your eyes from using gadgets "Sure, there is a thing called 'ebook' like Wattpad, webtoons, and different sites where we can read novels and stories. But physical books can help us to rest our eyes from the use of gadgets At the same time, it is convenient and can be brought everywhere That's why I prefer to collect books."
There are different types of collections that we can earn happiness from and become addicted to Of course, we can't deny that these collections can give us joy and satisfaction But as time passes, these are all worldly happiness that may fade as we get older Sure, these collectibles will be our source of joy for the time being, but at the same time, they can preserve memories that we can always go back to
GENZ’SRESPONSETOCONTEMPORARYISSUES Social Media THROUGH
In today’s current world, issues are inevitable. It is something that we cannot avoid and hide from; it has become a normal thing for this generation In the Philippines, issues are scattered everywhere Different issues can be seen trending through websites, social media platforms, accounts, and even on national television There are also instances that even personal issues within our neighborhood can be randomly discovered while walking outside
Issues have become the number one trending subject on social media Sometimes,
A Guide To Collectibles
people even rely on engaging in these issues as a way to relieve their stress
In this generation, how do we really respond to contemporary issues with the use of social media?
First of all, social media is a type of medium wherein we can release our thoughts, share what we feel with others, and rant or vent out our feelings through the use of the internet Social media has a lot of purposes; it can even help our economy as it can help small businesses grow However, social media also has a hidden dark side
The negativities found within this ark side of the internet can affect one’s mental health and one’s selfesteem This is why we should learn how to use social media properly, as too much social media may affect us and, as a result, cause too many issues
As a member of Gen Z, I will usually dig into the newest issues today While we spend our time encountering these topics with enjoyment, it is also important that we remind ourselves of the credibility of our sources We must avoid fake news, as fake news is also inevitable We must seek out credible sources and read the statement thoroughly, or we might as well avoid the issue. As I scroll through my Twitter timeline,
different issues and topics are being discussed, and I’m glad that there are people who are willing to understand the side of others. But, we cannot avoid those people who disagree with our statements, and it’s normal; we all have our own stances and opinions. On the web, users usually rant off their thoughts about occurring issues. Some of them even persuade others to support their agendas, and they even provide statements that can show transparency about the truth behind the issue. But after all, these issues are just topics that are circulating on the internet. We can always take a rest and breathe from these issues, as too much toxicity that we may absorb from them may greatly affect our health too.

HAND-ME-DOWNS?
The Fashion Influences of Gen Z
At the beginning of the pandemic lockdown, many youths forfeited dressing up in favor of baggy sweatpants, loose sweatshirts, and other shapeless garments that were lockdown staples Although some teenagers began to use the closed environment as a way to freely experiment with their personal style, and as lockdown practices gradually lessened, more and more of Gen Z began to jump on the bandwagon
When it comes to fashion, it can be argued that Gen Z is the most diverse and plentiful that fashion has ever gotten! With the advent of social media, such as Instagram and TikTok, adolescents are able to access a variety of fashion content from across the world, resulting in a collage of numerous aesthetics and model inspirations All this is to say that Gen Z is not a generation that could be surmised entirely in one go With a myriad of microtrends and fads flying out of the screen every day, it should not be surprising to say that only a few of the most popular fashion influences and styles will be mentioned for the sake of brevity
Starting with the obvious, South Korea has definitely impacted contemporary looks not only in the Philippines but also over the whole world Simple yet chic couture Glamorous yet elegant garments An innovative mixture of clothes and accessories delicately framed to be a cohesive outfit All are commonly attributed to and popularized by famously beloved K-Pop stars and K-Drama actors

Korean fashion is an example of a foreign cultural influence. Now, we must bring in the reemerging trends of Y2K fashion and its generational influences The Y2K era brought us denim jeans and skirts; there were crop toptees, shiny lip glosses, techy accessories, and other stylish, signature marks taken from the nostalgic early 2000s If the 20-year rule is in effect, meaning that fashion from twenty years ago will repeat, then Y2K apparel will definitely make a comeback
Speaking of fashion returning, let us speak on the topic of sustainable fashion and the trend of thrift or DIY fashion In reaction to backlash for the infamous rise of fast fashion brands and stores, SHEIN for a major example, many of Gen Z have opted to prioritize conserving the earth and its resources as part of their generation’s effort to live more natural and sustainable lifestyles by repurposing and upcycling old clothes along with accessories, or even by crafting new ones altogether Likewise, the popularity of thrift shops and our country’s ukay-ukay culture help us revitalize secondhand clothing
Filipino fashion designer Alyssa Lagon is part of Gen Z and founded Tela, a sustainable clothing brand wherein excess fabric from her parents’ fashion retail company, Bayo, is amended and styled to be made into complete pieces that are sustainable and modest I believe that Lagon is only the beginning of a new wave of this generation’s future fashion designers who will redefine and reform fashion as we know it today while still referencing the influential touches from some of our current trends
On The Clock:
The Increasing Problem of Phones in the Classroom
Have you ever seen those videos of students performing a TikTok dance in their classroom, only to be caught in the act by their beleaguered teachers? I’m sure everyone has While it may seem humorous to see the shocked expressions of embarrassed students, does it not make you feel a little sympathetic for the teacher, who has to scold students after using their phones in class, or a little concerned for the students, who continue to do so despite being told off?
The high rate of phone addiction among students is not really a surprise once you remember that
the Philippines is informally considered to be the “texting capital of the world ” To lend further credence to this insinuation, a recent study found that 62% of Filipino adolescents have some form of smartphone addiction, ranging from mild to severe You yourself have probably witnessed the strange yet common phenomenon of students taking selfies or filming videos on their phones during classroom hours Nevertheless, you and I must find a way to mitigate this rise in smartphone addiction
I’m not campaigning that
phones should be confiscated immediately once you set foot on campus or that phones should not be brought to school altogether Phones can be reliable for many emergencies, all without having to move places or pay fees, hence why I don’t think it would be the best idea to just put one telephone booth in the school where students will crowd around during an earthquake, for example.
In lieu of forceful, prohibitive policies, I suggest preventive measures based on mutual trust and understanding Students need to be taught proper management of their phones They should already know to turn off their phones or
have them on airplane mode Besides this, there could also be a system wherein phones are stored in a single, closed, yet accessible place, such as inside the teacher’s desk or in a pouch brought by a class officer This ensures that their phones are not being used while also not removing them entirely from the vicinity in case of any emergency calls.
Phones are never not going to be used in school, especially in our advancing society that relies on technology, but students should still learn how to handle them so that it doesn’t distract them in class and interfere with their education

It is without a doubt that Korean pop (K-Pop) continues to be a great sensation throughout the world, with artists serving as the core of the industry From the plethora of teenagers insistently waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of their bias to purchasing thousands-worth of rare photos of their idols that are made out of cards ranging from hologram to lenticular, their devotion is unabating.

For the most part, fandom culture is simply a community dedicated to supporting a KPOP personality with their endeavors Fan projects are widespread and meant to show support towards their chosen artists This stems from the effectiveness of Korean entertainment agencies that advertise their artists to create a structural bond with their fandom They feed the sheer admiration of fans in order to market groups and soloists toward ultimate success However, one destructive downside remains: those who madly support tend to cause the most damage to idols
Parasocial interactions are defined as one-sided relationships wherein one party exerts time, effort, and even money on a media figure, forming a deep connection with someone that is not even aware of their existence It is the disastrous consequence of over-exposing an idol's emotional moments and difficulties for the world to witness This inimical activity is commonly evident in social media, wherein fans tend to perceive that they are privileged to provide unwarranted comments about an artist's personal life At worst, they invade their privacy by leaking their cellphone
The industry's brutality extends to a more prejudicial situation where "cancel culture" is exceedingly common Artists are being put on a pedestal Fandoms believe that their idols are ideal and without flaws Consequently, once an artist is exposed for misbehaving, they will immediately be shunned, and those against them will take every opportunity to bash them, evidently losing their hardearned careers This takes a toll on their mental state It even causes some to take their life away
Take it to mind that this does not villainize K-pop stans for obsessing over their idols At the end of the day, K-pop is still designed as a source of entertainment for everyone to enjoy Creating a productive environment and setting boundaries for both idols and fans are a must in protecting the overall state of both parties. Because, at the end of the day, behind all the compelling songs and pleasing music videos are humans They mask themselves to give positivity to the world It is only fair for the world to do the same

I was a 4th grader when our class adviser gave us a small piece of paper containing a list of the clubs we were mandated to choose from. As an eager nine-year-old who loved a good challenge, I knew that The Josephian Diadem was my only option, and I was determined to be a part of one of the school’s most challenging organizations. Luckily, at that time, grade school students were welcome to apply, and I was more than enthusiastic about becoming one of the young News Writers on the staff. Thankfully, I got accepted. And throughout the years that I became a part of this publication, I have witnessed upperclassmen who dedicated the greater part of their high school life in becoming a student-writer. From contributors to editorial positions, they inspired me to continue honing my writing ability.
7th grade was the year when I realized I would take on a more significant role. Though I was still a news writer, my long-lived goal to become the publication’s Editor in Chief (EIC) wasn’t as out of reach as before. At one club meeting, we were asked to write an editorial article which was highly different from what I was used to. News writing was simply objective; all I needed to do was be factual and accurately tell a narrative. I wasn’t inclined to voice out my opinions and analyze conflicting viewpoints. However, to my surprise, my publication adviser admired my submitted article. It even led her to invite me to be a contestant in an NCR-wide journalism competition.
Now I was well aware that I had very little chance of even placing in that competition. Especially
since the majority of the contestants were much older and had more experience compared to me, whose forte wasn’t even editorial writing to begin with But training for it and actually being surrounded by students with the same passion as me felt surreal One that solidified my versatility and devotion to this skill It ultimately pushed me to become an official Editorial Writer, a News Editor, and eventually the Editor in Chief
In my last year as a junior high school student, I have finally reached my destination Though a part of me knew that my perseverance wouldn’t go unnoticed, it still hit me differently when our newspaper adviser told my mother, “Ito po yung EIC namin ” It validated the nights when I had to balance a great deal of backlogs with articles that had strict deadlines.
Finally, we have arrived at a nearing end After months of managing the publication’s social media pages together with my fellow staffers, formulating activities, and constructing this school year’s newspaper, we have successfully made it This wouldn’t have been possible without my fellow staffers, who I took pride in, and our advisers, Ms Coleen Gresola and Ms Armalyn Cajayon, two of the most encouraging mentors that I am honored to come across with
That being said, I am eternally grateful for the years I spent as a member of this publication To my fellow staffers, long live to the walls we have crashed through May this school year’s 2022-2023 issue be one that can be remembered
TECHNOLOGYUSAGE INTHECLASSROOM:
DOTHEPROSOUTWEIGH THECONS?
The constant evolution of technology and our resulting reliance on it has always had its pros and cons And when it comes to our education system, we’ve always kept it quite old-fashioned Presentations on Manila Papers are plastered on classroom blackboards, handwritten notes by teachers and students, and physical copies of homework But one pandemic and two school years later, that seemed to all change Canva became every student’s best friend, we exchanged manila papers for aesthetically pleasing PowerPoint presentations, and our handwritten notes and assignments were soon replaced with screenshots and document files. Two years of staying inside the house without communication with the outside world but through technology didn’t help our generation’s dependency on technology But now that things are returning to how they used to be, should the same be done for our education? Should we return to handwritten notes instead of screenshots and Manila Papers instead of Canva presentations? How have these changes affected the students’ performances? Would it be wiser to go back or be more innovative to continue going down our technological path where notebooks have been replaced with iPads?
It’s no secret that technology can do much more than we humans can It could store more information than our brains could ever remember, it contains graphics that an average person could never draw or paint with their own hands, and it has answers to questions most of us couldn’t even try to comprehend, so naturally, with the new software created to attend to students’ needs most of which were created at the height of the pandemic and online classes, we turn to these resources to let
technology do what it was designed to do Make our lives easier. With the help of such resources, it forms new ways for students to be engaged in their lessons It also helps students not be limited by what their own hands and skills can produce, especially regarding artistic ability But that’s also not to say that technology usage in the classroom doesn’t have disadvantages The main reason it was discouraged prepandemic was because of the impression that it encouraged students to be lazy And in a couple of different ways, it does Having a computer or phone at your disposal during lessons makes it so that if you didn’t listen, you wouldn’t have too big of a problem, because if the teacher asked you a question or you had to do an activity, all you had to do was search and the answer is right there in front of you Not to mention the distraction they cause, which may be the reason you aren’t able to listen in the first place
It also may not be a 100% even playing field because not everyone can afford a fancy computer or the brand-new iPad with the Apple Pencil and Keyboard or even afford to have data every day to use for online resources and research It speaks to many people’s privilege to even have a phone with a clear camera to take a picture of the board
The usage of technology will always have its pros and cons. And with today’s day and age, using it with things like school and work is inevitable Students shouldn’t rely their whole academic career on Google searches and Brainly But using PowerPoint templates instead of handwritten Manila Paper presentations is much more practical Not to mention how much free online resources save some students money

SHOULD DEPED REMOVE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL?
When K-12 was first established, the government promised that students would be employable once they graduated Senior High School But the government has fallen short of that promise, as most jobs still require applicants to have attained at least college education And now, the purpose of the extra two years of education is questioned
Established in 2016, Senior High School's goal was to produce "holistically developed, equipped with 21st-century skills and prepared for the future, regardless of their chosen paths, whether it be higher education, attainment of middle-level skills, employment or entrepreneurship "
Personally, as a student who went through my Junior High School education under the impression that I was going to have two more years of schooling that focused primarily on the field I'd be
going into, and then suddenly being told that once I finish this school year I'd be a college student, I'd be scared, especially as a student who got hit by the pandemic train and had to take two years of my Junior High School education online
This also only considers some students who have yet to figure out what field they want to go into and are hoping to use Senior High School as a time to figure it out It's immense pressure to think you still have two years to think about what you want to be and do, then suddenly have to decide on your college course immediately
And taking away K-12 would be a step backward When K12 was established, we were only catching up with all the countries that already had it for years K-12 also made it so that Filipino Students who wished to work or finish their education internationally no longer had to retake years due to the curriculum difference Some
Race and Gender have been social constructs since time immemorial. They are mirrors for prevailing societal prejudices; each is used to cause and defend one group’s supremacy over another. Let me express my thoughts on this sensitive and vast topic and how we might practice equity more.
Equity is about ensuring we give everyone things according to what they need. It is very much related to ‘Equality’; many people have considered those two as the a
Senior High School graduates can even apply to prestigious colleges abroad
But though I have objections to removing Senior High School, it doesn't mean it's free from fault The idea of K-12 was great; it was promising The execution of it was the problem. K-12 has its valid criticisms, especially with how it has worsened shortages in the educational system, given the government's consistent tack to to scrimp on the education budget And the disappointment of the people with the failure to fulfill the promise of employable K-12 graduates, especially those from less fortunate backgrounds who

as the same thing, but actually, they are two z different concepts but equally important In Equality, everyone is treated the same regardless of their a circumstances; it’s like one size
fits all. But in reality, it does not always work. Regarding Equity, it is about treating everyone the same benefits. Equality gives everyone a shoe, but Equity gives everyone a shoe that fits. We, especially our generation, should practice Equity more because it recognizes that we do not all start from the same place and are not under the same circumstances. Equity will lead to Equality, and a lack of Equity results in many global issues.
Starting with Gender Equity. Since the
might've hoped to save money by no longer needing to attend or send their children to college and being able to work earlier in life, is truly understandable. So, instead of abolishing K-12 altogether, a better approach would be to improve it and hopefully finally fulfill its promise to produce employable graduates And if the government revokes it, I hope there will also be changes in the Junior High School education that will better prepare them
beginning, women and men have been expected by society to play specific roles and behave in a certain way that is mainly based on beliefs and traditions. Gender Equity is about women and men having the same things according to their individual needs. This may include having equal rights with the same benefits, being treated fairly and justly, and playing an equally important role in society. Gender Equity and Gender Equality are different because Gender Equity recognizes and addresses gender inequalities.
There are several ways to practice Gender Equity; we can begin at home because this is where most of us spend our time and where gender discrimination may first appear Women are taught to be responsible for cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, and other household household chores, while men are not responsible for many household chores outside of yard work Women have suffered from this mentality for centuries. To educate their children on educate their children on domestic responsibility and to prepare them to take care of their future houses as adults, parents can practice gender equity in the home by equitably distributing duties to all of their children, regardless of gender Gender equity fosters creativity and innovation while opening the door to limitless possibilities
Racial Equity It is a term used to indicate a group of people with similar features on the outside, such

groups, and individuals may identify or belong to more than one.
People of different races, particularly people of color, have been mistreated for many years. Racial equity would occur if society disregarded their ethnic status to have access to what they require to thrive. People are judged and mistreated simply because they are physically different Racial equity is about justice, fairness, and doing the right thing by addressing the long-term consequences of centuries of discrimination. Begin calling out prejudices and working to change the system holding them back. Let us begin to listen, learn, and work together as one.

The Willow oil project is an eight billion-dollar proposed oil and gas production in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPRA), which is situated in Alaska's western Arctic area The American multinational company, ConocoPhillips, and the project advocates contend that the Willow Oil Project could improve regional energy output, lessen dependency on foreign oil, create jobs, and increase money for Alaska
However, opponents of the project raise concerns about its potential environmental impacts, including damage to wildlife habitat, air and water pollution, and contributions to climate change through increased greenhouse gas emissions In addition, some Indigenous communities have expressed concerns about the project's possible effects on their subsistence hunting, fishing activities, and cultural traditions "Over the course of 30 years, climate groups have
estimated it would release around 278 million metric tons of carbon pollution, which is more than what 70 coal-fired power plants could produce every year," CNN stated
Since the Biden administration just approved the Willow Project, there has been controversy regarding the project's probable adverse consequences on the environment Scientists have warned that countries must cease permitting new oil and gas drilling or risk a disastrous future on the planet However, the people involved in the Willow project are still determined to continue the task During the procedure, the project will negatively impact species already threatened or endangered, including caribou and polar bears It will also directly affect local communities and tribes, including the
Nuiqsut residents, due to the fatal pollutants produced
In conclusion, despite its potential economic advantages, the Willow oil project in Alaska has generated controversy because of the substantial environmental and social costs that it will entail While the project may create jobs and income for the area, iit also has the potential to degrade wildlife habitats, raise greenhouse gas emissions, and affect Indigenous populations' subsistence methods and cultural practices.

Given the long road from spinning one's own yarn to global production, it's incredible that we now live in a time where you can buy a garment on your phone just moments after it walks down the runway Purchasing clothing and keeping up with fashion trends has never been easier, especially with Fast Fashion It's extremely easy to experiment with new styles and have an outstanding drip these days
But what exactly is Fast Fashion?
Fast fashion is a design, manufacturing, and marketing strategy that focuses on producing large quantities of apparel in a short period of time In order to capitalize on current trends, the phrase is used to describe cheaply produced and priced garments that copy the latest catwalk styles and get pumped through stores quickly. It has gained momentum in discussions regarding fashion, sustainability, and environmental sensitivity
The production, design, distribution, and marketing processes in the fast fashion industry are all very quick It enables brands, including retailers, to obtain a wide range of products in huge quantities, allowing customers to experiment
with various looks and purchase more apparel at a discount Like it or not, fast fashion has fundamentally altered how consumers shop But what is it’s true cost? New fashion trends appear every week, and they are all quick to catch on Instead of spending money on high-end, long-lasting things that will quickly and shortly fall out of popularity, most consumers find it easier and more cost-effective to purchase cheap clothing that has brief lifespans
And here comes the matter at hand The fast fashion industry encourages people to buy cheap clothes repeatedly and dispose them quickly because of their poor quality, which makes them much more prone to tearing The world gathers masses of textile and garment waste every day, the majority of which is not biodegradable, as a result of this cycle of buying and discarding, which poses a serious threat to the environment Refusing to buy from companies that use unethical production methods is the best strategy to reduce the fast fashion industry Due to consumers' speedy purchasing rates, fast fashion thrives in You contribute to reducing that demand by slowing down your consumption habits Do your part and refuse to participate in the crisis that the fast fashion business has become a part of Buy less, choose well, and make it last
