Style
by Ulster Tatler’s Joanne Harkness
The Ulster Tatler Awards always brings out the best glamour, and this year was no different. As the designated ‘Style-Spotter’ for the night, I was blown away by the fashion that was on show – I certainly had a tough job choosing five people to be shortlisted for the Best Dressed Award – sponsored by Holley Optometrists. As I made my way through the stunning St Anne’s Cathedral, it was clear that everyone had pulled out all the stops to dress for the occasion, with a host of stylish gowns, tuxedos and outfits that were bang on trend! Our host for the evening Pamela Ballantine, dazzled in a floor length sequin gown, while pink seemed to be the colour of the night with Cool FM’s Rebecca McKinney and former Miss NI, Anna Leitch opting for stylish pink numbers. I also got the pink memo with my last-minute purchase, which was a satin blazer and wide trouser combo from Next.
The flower wall by SBD Events attracted all the fashionistas as they got snapped by our photographers, so it was a great spot for seeing what everyone was wearing. Another standout was double award-winner Christine Mackin’s bespoke gown, which had decadent detailing and was in the most beautiful autumnal purples and golds. The gentlemen also pulled out all stops, with some very suave suits, a particular mention to our Celebrity of the Year, magician Joel Mawhinney who also opted for a pink suit – we could have been twins for the evening. Joel’s girlfriend, the beautiful Eden McAlister (Miss Great Britain) never fails to impress and she oozed Hollywood glamour in a Marilyn Monroe inspired dress. Here are some of my favourite red carpet looks from the night.
