BEAT THE HEAT

The company offers an extensive range of transmission coolers Automatic transmissions include a number of rubber seals and other components that are sensitive to high temperatures and changes to the heat cycle. This is the main reason why heat is the number one cause of automatic transmission failure. The more the transmission’s heat cycle is reduced, the longer the seals and other rubber components will last. Lowering the transmission temperature also maximises the transmission’s oil life. As the largest manufacturer of 4WD and tradie ute transmission oil coolers, Wholesale Automatic says it fully understands the negative effects that heat can have on automatic transmissions. It says the best way to mitigate the effects of heat on an automatic transmission is by using a quality manufactured oil cooler kit specific to the vehicle.

FRAM 4WD FILTER KIT RANGE EXPANDED Providing maximum performance and durability on and off road

Filpro Automotive has expanded its range of Fram 4WD Filter Kits with multiple new applications and also an extended range of filter kits which now include cabin air filters where required. Filpro Automotive says it makes for the complete servicing solution, packaged conveniently in the one box with one reference number. Each Fram 4WD Filter Kit includes: • Air filter – providing superior protection for strenuous driving conditions. The advanced filter media has been stringently tested and has an increased dirt holding capacitysurpassing ISO 5011 testing standards. • Fuel filter – serving a vital function in today’s modern tight-tolerance engine fuel systems. By removing rust and dirt particles from petrol or diesel, fuel filters protect fuel pumps and injectors from rapid wear and failure. • Oil filter – ideal for drivers who push their vehicles, whether in stop and go traffic, by towing, or driving in extreme weather conditions. A blend of cellulose and synthetic

microscopic fibres provide an ideal balance of dirt-trapping and dirt-holding capacity, whilst providing optimum oil flow to the engine. • Cabin air filter (where required) – allowing travelers inside the vehicle to breathe cleaner air by filtering out pollen, allergens, exhaust fumes, dirt and dust that enter the vehicle through the cooling/heating system. Filpro Automotive says Fram Cabin Air Filters can eliminate up to 98 percent of these impurities. To find the right filter fitment, visit www.framfilters.com.au to use the online catalogue tool. TERRAIN TAMER EXPANDS PARABOLIC LEAF RANGE Wholesale Automatic designs and manufactures a full range of oil cooler kits in Australia to meet the needs of its customers, especially those who tow, go off road, or carry any type of load. All of Wholesale Automatic’s coolers are mounted on heavy duty, one-piece folded brackets that have been dual coated with zinc and finished in Mannex Black. Every kit is engineered to withstand rough surfaces, including corrugated roads. Each cooler is ready for DIY install and comes with everything required, including full colour stepby-step fitting instructions. Wholesale Automatic does note that a cooler kit should not be used when the mounting bracket has been made from stainless steel. It should also not be used if it has not been made as a single piece mount bracket. The company warns to always avoid mounting systems that include two-piece mounts or very flimsy straplike brackets. The innovative range now includes Toyota Landcruiser 70/73/75 series applications

Terrain Tamer says it has recently expanded its range of Parabolic Leaf Springs to now include Toyota Landcruiser 70/73/75 series models, utilising the same impressive parabolic design as the popular springs previously released for Toyota Hilux and Landcruiser 76/78/79 Series, Ford Ranger, Mazda BT50 and Mitsubishi Triton. Terrain Tamer says its Parabolic Leaf Springs’ unique design offers the best of both worlds, helping the spring to flex while still providing the strength needed to bear the weight of heavy loads. It explains that this is particularly useful in 4WD applications, carrying excessive load on the driveline or when challenged with difficult terrain, as the flex allows the spring to give a little when the driver hits a bump in the road. It says the design allows the differential housing to rotate with the springs and effectively provides a smoother ride, reducing the shock transferred to the crown wheel and pinion. Terrain Tamer states that standard leaf packs stay set with almost no flex at all, and the same force would cause more shock to the vehicle and driver.

Essentially coupling a more comfortable ride with a strength not afforded to traditional comfort springs, Terrain Tamer’s parabolic springs are well suited to vehicles close to their GVM. They contain fewer leaves than regular leaf springs and get their name from their tapered parabolic design, meaning the spring is thicker in the centre and thinner toward the ends, rather than the usual linear style. Terrain Tamer says this design eliminates the weight of often heavy, thick, traditional leaf packs, dramatically reduces the unsprung weight of the vehicle and frees up weight for heavier loads or towing. Through extensive research and development, Terrain Tamer says it has found that the new shape provides better axle articulation, as well as almost no interleaf friction, allowing the spring to compress or extend with ease without touching each other until there is a reasonable load on the vehicle, up to 500kg.
