NYCC2017
ROWDY ROOKER My favorite part of comic con is running back and forth between the Marvel and DC booths, getting sketches from creators. Without fail, ever year, I seem to be in the Marvel booth when a celebrity is there doing a signing, giveaway or photo op. NYCC 17 was more of the same. While I was in line for Amy Reeder and Brian Montclaire, what else was going on... Michael Rooker, Yondu himself, was on the Marvel main stage riling up the crowd and doing some giveaways. The crowd was huge and they were way into the small prizes he was giving out. His energy was off the charts and even though fans know him best as Merle (from The Walking Dead) or Yondu (GOTG), my favorite role of his will always be Rowdy in Days of Thunder.
Hanging around Marvel, Luis snapped pictures of Lorraine Cink, Chris Claremont, and an artist who was handed a fluffy pink pen.
Marvel gave away tiny glow-in-the-dark cosmic cubes in support of the Secret Empire mega-crossover event. While it didn’t contain the power to make Captain America into a Hydra-loving minion, it’s a fun little tschotske.
