My Mess Became My Message
"A
rt for me is a means to create discourse and promote awareness surrounding issues close to my heart drawn from my compassion towards others and personal experience with mental health and domestic violence. Art practice has been a place of personal healing and gives me a voice and purpose my audience relates to; this is prevalent in the lonely chairs, a series that's been in the works for the last three years while I was raising my 3-yearold son on my journey through single parenthood, My well thought out practise of abstract imagery that is consistent with a contemporary approach to impressionism. I'm fascinated by concepts that push the boundaries, bold and complementary color schemes, and depth. My somewhat misplaced use of color conveys a sense of nonconformity, my mismatching nature is very intentional, and I'm mindful of creating beauty in my unconventional approach.
I'm blessed to live on the coast of Australia. My backyard is the lake and the beautiful bushland, inspiring my subject matter and allowing my audience to interpret their thoughts and feelings while encouraging viewers to come on a journey with me through my body of work. Light at the end of the tunnel faces the branches, an energy connector between artists and viewers; one of my greatest joys with art practice. My obsession with eradicating stigma and helping others, deep emotions, and personal relationships can be understood, enabling me to reflect on the challenges that shaped me as a person. So, please, enjoy my work, and I'll see you on the ART side of the moon”. “Erin Lady Of Vines” Acrylic, 28”x20”
Influenced by Frida Kahlo and the great impressionists Renoir and Degas, it reflects Kahlo's confronting yet popular imagery with bright, bold color themes.
