Two years ago, we sold Hefte El Primero H04 at this sale. He was purchased by ST Genetics and Five J’s Beef and Cattle. He is currently the first and the only Santa Gertrudis offered in the ST Genetics bull battery. Before we sold him, we used H04 as a cleanup bull on our heifers. He bred over 19 heifers before reaching his 2nd birthday! He produced 8 known bull calves that season and SEVEN of them made it into this sale! Five of his heifers can be found in the female sale. This deep-bodied, easy fleshing and extremely gentle H04 son, Hefte Ranch K78, is out of a Hefte Ranch D25 daughter. He boasts a strong EPD profile with top 10% WW, top 5% YW and top 10% REA.

Typically only our top 25% of bull calves make it into the Tried and True sale, so it is pretty amazing that El Primero has 88% of his bull calves in this sale! It is a really remarkable keep/cull ratio. This El Primero son is out of an Hefte Ranch D25 daughter who goes back to SR Isabella and AL Zeus. With a mix of old school show and modern carcass genetics, K48 is a really unique breeding piece for many different programs. Top 10% indices and five traits in the top 5%.

Five J’s purchased this bull’s dam at the 2021 Tried & True Sale when she was safe in calf to Hefte El Primero H04. The resulting calf has been a stand-out since birth. His dam combines KR 191/13 with Hefte Ranch A88, the dam of Hefte Ranch D25. A very stellar combination of genetics that produced a top tier herd sire.
