PLUMBING & HEATING Plumbers install, service and repair water supply, sanitation and heating systems, both domestically and commercially. Our plumbing and heating courses at Redcar & Cleveland College have been designed to give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours as well as industry work experience needed to become a qualified plumber.
LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE IN INTRODUCTION TO BUILDING SERVICES AND ENGINEERING Course length: 1 year
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This course will provide you with introductory skills in plumbing, electrical installation and engineering. You will learn about health and safety, electrical circuit installations, hot, cold and drainage plumbing systems and basic engineering skills.
WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?
4 GCSEs grade 3/D including English and maths or an entry level qualification in a related course.
WHAT’S NEXT?
After you have completed this course you could progress on to one of our level 2 courses in electrical installation, engineering or plumbing.
LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN PLUMBING Course length: 1 year
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This course offers learning through 50% practical sessions combined with 50% theory sessions. You will learn a wide range of plumbing skills including health and safety, cold water plumbing systems, hot water plumbing systems, central heating systems and above ground drainage. Sessions will be delivered in our plumbing workshop which offers a range of different environments to develop your plumbing skills.
WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?
4 GCSEs grade 4/C including English and maths or a level 1 qualification in a related course.
WHAT’S NEXT?
On completion of this course you could progress on to our Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing or continue your learning by securing a plumbing, heating or gas apprenticeship.
If you don't already have a GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.
