1 Stamp 3 Ways
How many times have you looked at a stamp and thought, “What else could I do with it?” I literally ask myself that every time I purchase a stamp. This particular stamp was a no-brainer for me, as I saw so many possibilities. The brown bear with blonde companion was the first thing that came to me. However, I wanted to change the ethnicity of the human, while making the bear seem like they would be from the same region of the world. While pondering how I could make the entire image look different, I had a stroke of inspiration: bears don’t always have to be one specific colour. OMG, panda bear! What goes better with a black-and-white palette than bright red? Stamps can be re-imagined simply by changing your colour palette, or stepping back and taking a different perspective. Think of all the possibilities for using one image (i.e., holidays, occasions, even layouts and colour plays). This adds so much value to your stamp and your entire collection as well. Your only limit is your imagination. This stamp was created as a symbol of me and my husband (who is literally named “Barry”). I have struggled with panic and anxiety disorders from a very young age. Reading is my escape from the irrational thoughts that cloud my brain in anxiety-inducing situations. My husband told me that no matter what happens, he will protect me. The image of the girl reading is the escape from reality. The bear is not necessarily listening to her read aloud, but keeping watch to protect her from everything around her, even herself.
